Cool Who Attended the Texxas Jam in 1978, 1979, 1980 ?

I Attended the first 3-4 Texxas Jam concerts at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas starting in 1978 and have some great memories. Does anyone else have any stories to share?

I had looked the concert up on Youtube a few years back and only found This Aerosmith Documentary.

Then the other day I did another search and found where someone had taken the KZEW radio broadcast of the last Three Heart songs at the end of the night and put them with some pictures.

    Pretty Cool.

I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

Wanted to in 1979. Rush was my favorite band then and now. Was too young to go...

Was just a little BDC at the time, but my uncle went all or most of them I think. I know he told me he remembered seeing Metallica get booed off the stage because no one knew who they were at the time.

I was at the first Texxas Jam - it was hot! My parents were idiots for letting me and a buddy drive from Abilene to Dallas. Crazy.

Heart stole the show! Ted Nugent passed out and Aerosmith was terrible. The intro band was awesome - many had not heard of.....Van Halen.

I camped at the lake park where the secondary stage was located. Many of the bands played there when they weren't on the main stage. Janis Joplin gave a great performance from about 2 to 4 a.m. There was no sound system except for the individual speakers attached to each instrument. J.J. didn't need a mike to be heard by all. That girl could sure project her voice. She drank a whole bottle of Jack Daniels while she sang. By the time she left, she was about as drunk as a person can get. Then we all went skinny-dipping.

This brother didn't go to the Texas Jam but I did go to the Funk festival at the Cotton Bowl which was a couple of weeks earlier than the Texxas Jam. Those were great concerts back in the day. I believe a ticket was 20 dollars and the concert lasted for hours. My best memories are them breaking out the water hydrants and wetting the girls T-shirts. I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
