OK, so I saw maybe one of the dumbest things in sport in my life last night. That may be a bit of an exagerration, but maybe not.

At the end of the men's gymnastics the Japanese team thought there was a scoring error and needed to file a protest. As the coach is approaching the judges I saw him have a piece of paper and cash (appeared to be US $20 bills)!!!!!

Apparently one of the announcers saw the same thing and it is protocol. You pay them a fee/deposit and get it back if it's upheld or the opposite or something. In any case, it seems like the dumbest thing ever. Even if you want to charge a fee for the dispute, why show cash at the judges' table? Just charge it back or hold the medals or something.

Crazy!!!
