Wow. A congratulatory salute to Coach Rush. This man revived a community that was devastated when Coach Wilson left for Carter back in 2002.
I'm hoping that JT doesn't suffer again. You guys have any word on who may replace Coach Rush?

If Tyler ISD truly cares about the kids on this issue then they will go from within! When Rush resigns it will be a minimum of 10 days before the administration would be able to start interviewing. Then you give it another 7-14 days to complete the interviews and come up with a finalist. That will put you having the new person come in no earlier than May 20th!!!!!! Then he has to find his staff. So putting in anything new is now out of the question because it will be 2-A-Days before you truly get a chance to work with your kids. Ricklan Holmes should be the man for the job.. check twitter the kids want him... the staff agrees!!!!!!
On a side note I know I have cracked jokes on here about people, but it is all in good fun. But this has been 2 of the best years of my life. My kids love these players. My son is more scared of me calling David Bush than taking away his toys. I respect the program that Coach Rush has built. He is a role model for any student or coach. Thank you to all the parents and fans that made me and my family feel at home. I will miss this place more than anybody will ever know. I want nothing but the best for these Seniors! Records are made to be broken!!!!!!!!!!

Smoaky.com has learned that Tyler I.S.D. interviewed four candidates to become the new head football coach at John Tyler High School on Thursday.
The four candidates include:
*Ricklan Holmes, Interim Head Coach (Secondary Coach)
*Paul Frye, Interim Offensive Coordinator
*Jay Brown,Defensive Coordinator, Henderson H.S.
*Kendrick Brown, Defensive Coordinator, DeSoto H.S.
Holmes and Brown both played high school football at John Tyler, Jay Brown was once an assistant coach at John Tyler, and was the head coach at Texas College and he's a native of Jacksonville and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. Meanwhile, Frye has been as assistant coach at John Tyler for four years. He was once the head coach at Arp and Alba-Golden and an assistant coach at Tyler Lee.
Kendrick Brown has been an assistant coach at Lancaster, Dallas Hillcrest, Lewisville Hebron, Arlington Seguin (Defensive Coordinator) and DeSoto (Defensive Coordinator).
Smoaky.com learned T.I.S.D. was expected to interview five candidates, but one of them withdrew his name from consideration before the interview process began. Superintendent Randy Reid, Athletic Director Rod Kaspar and John Tyler Principal Shon Joseph interviewed the candidates. And, Jeff Collum, Executive Director of Secondary Education wasn't able to attend the interviews, and he's leaving for a Superintendent's job Benton, Arkansas.
John Tyler is looking to replace Dereck Rush, who left for the head coaching job at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe.
Look for Tyler I.S.D. to move very quickly with this hire, and in fact, they might have finalist by Friday and recommend a name to the school board as early as Monday, May 7th.

Kendrick Brown is also a JT grad. so it would be good for him also. All of these coaches have been at JT at some point in their lives. So they all know what JT can do.
