2012 Official "Cy" Schools thread

On a good note I guess, 3 of 4 teams in the semi's were 175A!

Also, congrats to Woods for qualifying for the State tourney.

Falls may not make it this year. Poor ol' Falls.

Keith is a neat guy. Very knowledgeable of the game. I kept him in the dugout with me to keep me headed in the right direction. i remember a game up in a Dallas tourney where we (minors) were playing a majors team and we go into about the 4th inning. Two out, they had one on and their #3 hitter coming up. Keith also kept the book for us and he informed me this batter has been smashing all day and the next batter has struggled. Without questioning I asked blue to place the batter on 1st, moving the runner to 2nd. Next batter.....grounds out to 2nd for the 3rd out. We actually played them close that game. I think it was 8-4?

Will was my 1 hole batter. The only kid I could find on the team with the right mental approach for the spot. He was very disciplined at the plate and when the pitcher made a mistake he drove the ball very well to a "hole". He crossed the plate many times for us. And a bulldog of an attitude when playing.....backed down from no one or nothing. Off the field....one of the nicest, sweetest kids.....On the field, don't furk with him!

Those were the days. Loved working with the kids.

Agreed - it was not optimum, but it was lightning and raining for several more hours and not much else could be done unless everyone waited around for 3-4 hours for the weather to clear.

I guess.. but losing a heartbreaker in last 10 seconds of a semi finals game the week before and then having someone get in on a coin toss…don't seem right..but congrats to Cy Creek and Cy Woods..!

Rod - I have not followed Woods, we only played them once in the Creek consolation game but Creeks entrance is well deserved. Winning their pool 3 times and losing to the winner of the first 4 SQTs they entered. Creek has had their share of winning/losing drives in the last seconds - thats 7on7 football.

I wish Klein the best of luck in their upcoming SQT's and hope they qualify. It would be good to have some of my Klein buddies there. Having played Westfield, Collins, and Forest - there are a bunch of great athletes in your district.

This group is younger with lots of soon to be Sophomores and Juniors..so I am very proud of them...We will concentrate on league play and Strength and conditioning so they are ready for the Fall...

Haven't seen too many of you guys over on the FB site - that place has become quite confusing and crowded! So glad this site isn't going away. It's much easier to navigate....and we can keep it in the Cy family on this thread (with our neighboring cousins among us of course!)

And at their own SQT!!!!

It was Alaka's first tourney and he looked to be going easy on his ankle. I look for Falls to qualify soon enough with him in the mix. Looked like they were missing a few other receivers though. Falls should be able to stretch the field vertically come the fall.
