Austin Bowie's band is doing a great job this year, especially considering the director passed away this summer.
They won the Bands of America Arlington Regional for the first time, beating bands from LD Bell and Flower Mound, among others.

They also won the Westlake Marching Festival.
The show is very good. They still have some artsy pieces that I don't quite understand, but that seems to be what judges like nowadays. But there is a lot of movement, crisp sound and when they all play, it's LOUD. The color guard is also probably the best I've seen at Bowie.
My dad saw them live a couple weeks ago at the game, and he actually gave them a standing ovation...twice. He's not a band guy, and has been disappointed by past halftime shows. He said this show, and their sound, is what he's been missing since the late 60s - early 70s Austin Crockett bands. They used to be large and very loud.
I wish I could find a video, but they're being strict about putting the show online until after the competition season. Anyway, I heard it on tv and it's not even close to what you experience in person.
How are y'all's bands doing so far?
