Default Re: Playoff Projections (Week 8)

This was a more volatile week than normal given some of the fourth place races have kicked into overdrive.

7-5A was the big mover in Region 1. I have Carroll in Div. 1 after Central's loss to Fossil Ridge.

I elected to not change 8-5A for now (despite Hebron's loss to East) because the battle for those spots will be decided by very slim margins. Too close to call- even for predictions.

In Region 2, 13-5A and 16-5A are the most uncertain. I also shook up 12-5A a bit by adding Temple.

Region 3 is pretty well set, but 24-5A is all kinds of messed up regarding fourth place. An interesting battle for fourth place could take shape in 19-5A if Strake beats morton Ranch this week (could also ultimately push Katy Div. 1). Several things need to happen for that to happen, and mr can end any speculation this week.

27-5A is the most active Region 4 district after O'Connor's loss to Jay.

MR will sneak in in 19-5A only because I picked 'em to do so many, many months ago. Yeah...right! (My pick 'em skills are easily documented.)

In 15-5A...I think it'll basically come down to two games for the seedings.

Del Valle vs. Austin for the 4th spot.
Bowie vs. Westlake for D1 #1 seed.

Del Valle has impressed me more than Austin High. I think they could grab that last spot.

7-5A is going to come down to a tiebreaker for the final spot unless somebody loses a game they shouldn't.

Current tiebreakers: Coppell beat Fossil Ridge, FR beat Central, Central beat Guyer, Guyer beat Coppell.

    Key remaining games:
    Week 8: Central vs. SLC
Week 9: Guyer at Fossil Ridge
Week 10: Central vs. Coppell, SLC at Guyer

For SLC to go Division I, both Fossil Ridge and Guyer have to make the playoffs.
