Amon Carter Stadium demolition at 8:15am this morning

Was on campus yesterday and took almost the exact same picture.

What are the two beams for in between the light standards on the home side and appear to be the same on the visitor side?

Also, it appears they are building a facade on the visitor's side, and at either end they're appears to be a kind of turret. Typically I'd think it would be for stairs, but that doesn't make sense looking at the structure. Any ideas as to what hat is?
