Thumbs up State Bigman Challenge in Forney, Texas

The Arlington Colts won the State Lineman Challenge for the 3rd year in a row for class 5A. Heard there were over 50 different schools competing in this years event? Waco Midway won class 4A and Sanger won class 3A! Way to go teams. Results should be posted on www.texaslinemanchallenge.com very soon.

I must say I am very impressed with the Arlington Colts lineman and their success in these events. Congrats to all the winners.

If they get a good push from the line up front this year the offense could pile up some pretty impressive rushing stats with Dickerson, Davis, and Onyegbule carrying the ball.

It looks like participation is pretty limited in this event compared with 7 on 7.

Congratulations to the Colts. That's great news. However, I wonder about the relevance of winning this since they won it last year and their lines got manhandled badly by Trinity in the playoffs.

Arlington Bowie, Richland, Duncanville, Desoto, Colleyville Heritage, Spring Westfield, Arlington Colts, Cedar Hill, Lake Travis, Waco Midway, Sulphur Springs, Heath, Sanger, Kaufman, Grapevine, Wylie, Arlington Lamar, Santa Fe, Garland Sachse, and South Grand Prairie were just some of the schools that I know of who attended. For some reasons, some schools dont participate or get involved with lineman challenges. Still a great accomplishment for anyone who could win this competition, let alone 3 years in a row. Good luck to the Colts.

I thought Arlington's tackles were both top notch, with the big LT very very impressive. The interior 3 were young I recall and were probably a year away from being pretty special in their own right.

    Well done Colts

Plano East, Arlington Martin, Grand Prairie, Mansfield Summit, Mansfield Timberview, Keller, Kennedale, Birdville, LD Bell, and Lancaster were some other teams who attended Big Man Challenges this summer. Maybe it will continue to pick up some steam and continue to grow. Congrats to the Colts and the other classification winners.

so you saying that everyone should just quit and not compete or get better? just hand over the trophy to the mighty trojans and go home? come on tback, sounds like y'all got your own koolaid brewing.

not so much. the relevance of 7on7 is justifiably questioned every year too. they are tools at best, not endpoints. i haven't witnessed one of these comps. how relevant are the activities to football?
the harder i work, the luckier i get to pay more taxes so someone unluckier than me doesn't have to work so hard

Sad how people always find something to be negative about. Let's be happy these kids are outside having fun instead of sitting on their ***** playing video games all day.

    Da Hawiian Dude,

Luke Joeckel (LT) will be starting for Texas A&M next year as a true freshmen. Damon Martin (RT) just recently committed to Kansas (Junior).
Center was a Senior and is playing football next year at SEOSU.
Both Guards were Sophs, and are already drawing interest from several D-I Schools. Big Freshman class as well, should be strong on the front for a while.

obviously, strength plays a huge role in line play. seems like they should work in some quickness and agility events too. these aren't your grandfathers linemen come fall. the 3 cone drill is not too far from what ol might have to do, and even more so for dl.

The Arlington OL wasn't a weakness to me, yes the guards were young, but I thought as a unit they were pretty good, especially those tackles...both of them. Where Coach Peach will look to improve will be along his defensive front.

Coach Peach comes from good bloodlines, I'm sure he knows what his program needs to work on
