Cove vs. Universidad Autonoma

This is just plain bizarre. The Killeen daily herald reports that Copperas Cove's third non-district game will be against Universidad Autonoma De Nuevo Leon, a private school from Monterrey. I didn't know they played American football in Mexico. According to the paper, Cove will play Nuevo Leon at home the next two years. I just don't know what to make of this. Does anyone else know of Texas/Mexico football matchups?

Allen played a team from Monterrey, Mx. the last two seasons.
They were a pretty dang good team. I'm sure that the Mexican teams
are trying to branch out and exposed their kids to "real" football.
It can be a great expereince for your kids AND the community.

Well ok, I hope this is a good team. I was very excited when I heard we would play SLC. Waco has been a given over the years but I believe if their program declines over the next few years with the loss of Tusa, they will no longer be a rival game for us. We thought we had Midland Lee who hasn't been to hot as of late but still a proud program, that fell thru. So unless this team from Mexico is good, SLC will be the highlight of our non-district play. Then onto what I still consider a weak district in 12-5A. I really believe we will have a good team this year, but little district competition to help us prepare for playoffs. We won't be able to gauge this year from last years team. I believe it will be very different and better. We'll just have to wait and see.

Really?! That's news to me. This is the first time I've heard of such a thing. How does Texas usually fare against Mexican schools?

Waco played back to back a team from Mexico in the mid 90's.... both at Baylor..... both games were laughable.

Universidad Autonoma won there football league last season, in one of the toughest leagues in Mexico. So atleast they are a respected team in Mexico.

Austin Reagan played a mexican team a couple of yrs ago. They won 28-0. Then i believe Austin reagan went out the next week and lost 72-0 to stony point
