So ladies and gentlemen of the 5ATF board. I have listened to music that isn't all that popular but I think is well written and has good chords and melody. To me, there are a lot of songs out there that don't get the praise and recognition that they deserve. I really do think that some of the Isley Brother's work gets a little overshadowed. A group by the name of Maze (feat Frankie Beverly) made some good music. Real good night cruising music to listen to when you're with your lady. Still, I don't hear much about them. I also think that Carl Thomas could have had a much longer career and a had a great track (Make it All Right was the bomb.) Primarily I usually think good R&B gets overlooked and I'm not sure why.
So what do y'all think is some music that should be given more praise or in your opinion is a good piece of work but is not given accolades or recognition (you may not think it needs recognition but you believe it is a great song).
It can be a song of any genre or era. Just curious.
Y'all may not care about these songs...y'all may not like em, hell y'all might hate them...that's ok.
Maze "Can't Get Over You" and "Before I Let You Go"
Isley Brothers "Midnight Sky Parts 1 and 2" (one of the best guitar solos I've heard)
Shai "Comforter"
Notorious B.I.G. "Going back to Cali" and "Gimme the Loot (an odd perspective and in the form of a conversation)
2Pac "Lord Knows" (a rap song that is dark and seems surreal but it can viewed as a harsh reality)
3 Doors Down "The Game" ...don't know why...but I like it. (In its original key or transposed up to B-flat minor)"
U2 "A man and a Woman"
...and countless others.
