I think he means

State Champions - are exactly that - The winners of the Final
Runners-up - are the Losing Finalist
Finalist - appearances in the State Chapionship Game, either as a winner or loser

If this is true why isn't SLC shown as a runner-up once... when they lost to Katy in the championship game?

It's nice while it lasted for Judson, I see about a 5 to 7 year streach where they might not make 2 games into the playoffs and 4 of the years they might not make the playoff's at all. All great things must come to an end, but hey it was an awesome ride!!!!!!!!!

If Judson stays with the bunch they play now, I see it a little differently. They'll either miss the playoffs or make long runs.

toonman, you have it exactly correct. I just put the top 5-7 teams in each category, that's why SLC isn't in the runner-up.

Interesting to see what each Region has done overall and after UIL went to two division playoff system.

Here's my own little statistic. Worst Arsse whuppin administered to a region 4 (Westlake)team in the semis by a region 3 team(Northshore).
52-0. 2003.
Worst possible Arsse whuppin is yet to come. Look out for Westfield!
If you have not seen them play you are in for some SHOCK and AWE.

Nothing like having some wannabes blowing their horn over a couple of good seasons. Here's another stat for semifinals: Judson 9 Region III 4.

If SW & Judson make it to the semifinals, SW should beat Judson with all of those Division I suspects on their team. With all of that talent, you wouldn't think that SW was afraid to play Judson at Judson Stadium, but they are and chose to go elsewhere in San Antonio (either Seguin, Alamo Stadium, Northeast, or one of the NISD stadiums). Always nice to play Region III schools because they are usually heavy favorites over Region IV, but a funny thing has happen since 1990, Region III ranks last in state titles and Region IV has more state game appearances than Region III.

As for SW, what was impressive for one of the few times in Region III semifinal opponents of Judson, was the coaching and self-discipline of the players. My hat is off to the coaching staff for being able to corral that talent and make them a team.

BTW, 52-0 was the 1992 D1 Finals when Judson beat Euless Trinity.
