I'm new to Texas. One thing I just don't get. How can one team be classified as a division 2 playoff team and a team from their same district be in the division 1 playoffs? What's the difference?

It goes by the number of students in the school.Originally Posted by double-a

Mac is D2 because they are "small 5A", or a 5A school that has a smaller enrollment than others. Mac's enrollment is just under 3000 students (2800 something).
Reagan is D1, or "big 5A" because of larger enrollment (3500 ish).

its quite complicated...now that 4 teams go in from each district, its the two largest schools of the four that get in go D1 and the other smaller 2 go D2...thats the best i could explain it

UIL did this because they feel smaller schools have a smaller talent base to draw from, and it'd be an unfair advantage for schools like Plano which has 5000 students play Seguin with 2100 students.
There are 2 champions from each class. (1A through 5A)
Thank you for clearing that up for me. Do the two play?
The monkey wrench is that D2 sometimes has bigger schools win titles than D1.

That sucks that they don't play. Any talks of them having one champ?
Its mentioned a bunch on this board, but appearently not at the UIL. Most on this board want 1 champ, but we I guess are powerless.Originally Posted by double-a
