Robert Griffin III, who is a wide out and qb at Copperas Cove set the national record in the 400 meter hurdles this past weekend. The time was in 52.74 s. And he isn't even the fastest on a bulldawg team that is full of great speed. Even though we do not have size our great team speed will prevail us to another district title.

Unlike hurdles, Judson's defense moves and hits back! :p

With Judson transforming to the spread........I wouldn't be surprised to see Cove dismantle Judson.

Dismantle Judson...don't think so. Win a very close game is more like it. Speed kills and Cove has plenty of it. Should be one of the better games of the year.

I'll bet the old slow Rockets won't have chance. I hope everybody else is biting on the spread thing. Gonna be interesting for sure. Cove had a very good team last year. While they did out stat us the only one that counts is the score board. I think the big game jitters is what beat them last year in Converse. Hope they haven't got over them yet.

I totally agree with you on this one. Cove had not been in a game this much hyped since the '98 season (i think) when we played midland lee in the regional finals. Alson the fact that yall packed in 5,000 plus fans on your side. The dawgs will be ready this year.

I suppose turn-a-bout is fair play. One thing to remember though, a loss this tyime of year is not the end of the season. I'd like to think we can win, but you never know. I hope we were good hosts and the favor will be repayed.

That's true because some teams can't recover from losses during the year and some get better. A regular season game can't be your Super Bowl because you'll never win state that way. They're all games that you build on.

Last years game was a measuring stick for Cove against one of the best programs in the state. They lost the game but was a better team for the loss.
This years game against Converse Judson is considered a measuring stick also. Cove is looking forward to the game but not looking past anyone. Cove feels they are better than last years team and they are playing at home where they play everyone tough.
The game will be tough and some of the comments made earlier simply don't hold water. No one will get dismantled. It will be a very hard played game between two very good teams. Judson was fast last year and there should be no difference this year.
I'm looking forward to seeing to of the best teams in Texas play in Bulldawg stadium. I'm sure it will be a classic.

I don't think Cove will be better than last year...but that is my opinion..........the lines for them are not going to perform as well as last year.

Our defense is fast and thats all there is too it....nobody will have seen speed on the 'd' side of the ball like ours.....i guess we get to test it on the Roo-Dawgs....they seem to call themselves that cause there the Roo's and they wanna be like Dawgs!!!!!!

A&M Consolidated looked like a 3A team on the field against Cove last year. Men against boys so Roos will be a tune-up for rest of 13 5A :)

So I guess your starting running back gave up 400+ yards. Sounds like an excuse to me. So in other word you had NO DEPTH, NO DEFENSE, and NO CHANCE. So from that lack of depth last year will spring forth this great team this year that will jump up and win district that sounds like a fantasy. Go DAWGS!!! :D

Certainly a sub-53 sec. 400 hurdles shows great speed, but information I found about Texas highschool records shows the TEXAS record to be 49.77 set by Kenon Clemant of LaPort in 2002. Did I find incorrect information or did you?

The record he is refering to is the National AAU record. The point of his post I believe is to show that the back up quarterback is this fast and he is not one of the fastest people on the team indicating the amount of speed on the team.

I knew his point about team speed. What he didn't bother to make clear is what record he was talking about. All he said was "national record". It obviously wasn't the national high school record. Thanks for clearing that part of it up.

Thats BS. I personally know Griffin does not run a 4.4. He is close to a 5 actually. Hes extremely fast as a hurdler in 400's and such. But he does not run good 40 times in the least bit, at all. And I think you mean number 22 on JV. His name is Troy Vital and hes a second or two at most off of Griffin's 400 times.

NO I don't mean number 22 I mean number 20. He is faster than Troy. Troy is a 200 runner. The 200 and 400 are his strength #20 runs the 100 faster than Troy and has exceptional 40 times (4.3). On that point number #10 Anthony Cotton is also faster than Troy in the 100. And you are right the future is bright for the Cove backfield!!!

#20 Last name is Taylor I believe. Smallish guy will see how his size develops. Very fast. I would put him and Cotton in backfieldd ahead of #22 my opinion only. Future is bright!!!!

Jamel Taylor is on B team. He isn't nearly as talentened as Vital, Cassius, or Cotton. He is fast though, but realy I don't think hes on those other guy's level, maybe in a year? But yes the future is definetly bright.

But yes the future is definetly bright.Perhaps you are correct but from what I saw at the game the only reason Vital is where he is is because of size not skill. Cotton should start instead. As far as #20 not being as talented well... My opinion only and you know what they say about those. Either way it goes im glad we have an abundance of talent instead of none at all. Go Dawgs

When it comes to 40's it is Taylor, Cotton, in that order in skill it is Cotton,Taylor , with Vital third I do believe time will bear that out. Like I stated Skill positions are loaded for next few years we will see how it goes.
