A bunch of us today during a break at practice agreed at a consensous on how are season would be. A bunch of talk went on during 5 minutes and continued throughout the practice during breaks. At the end, we agreed that 8-2 seems ideal for us. Here is what we mainly discussed so far:

Sept. 2 @ Bowie - Win by 30
-Without Sherrod Harris our starters should be out by halftime.
Sept. 9 vs. North Mesquite - Win by 8
-North Mesquite could very well be 0-2 or 2-0 going into this game. It's our first home game and the new-look Blue Raiders will be ready to show their extremely doubtful and pessimistic students/fans/teachers/parents/supporters whats up.
Sept. 16 @ Flower Mound - Win by 14
-Flower Mound has a good quarterback and huge line, but are they really a better and more talented team then us? No
Sept. 23 vs. Irving MacArthur - Win by 1
-Homecoming, first district game, more support from a strong non-district and up against a team that went 10-0 last year and beat us by 40 points. Intangibles kick in here.
Sept. 29 @ Irving - Lose by 15
-Irving is the most talented team in our district by far. I think we will be big headed and over confident if we start 4-0 like we predict, and beating them last year badly will put more into that.
Oct. 7 vs. South Grand Prairie - Lose by 4
-SGP's defense can hurt us. I think this game will be decided by whoever makes the least mistakes.
Oct. 14 vs. Trinity - Win by 3
-After losing 2 straight, what better team to get us motivated to get back on track then the school who resides 5 minutes away from ours and has beat us 8 years straight? Of course, like usual, the Trojans will come into the game thinking they have already won. But this year it will be a tougher test they have faced. I think overtime will be needed to decide this one.
Oct. 21 vs. Coppell - Win by 14
-Stop Emmanuel Moody, collect the win, its that simple.
Oct. 28 @ Irving Nimitz - Win by 20
-Stop David Watkins, collect the win, its that simple.
Nov. 4 vs. Grand Prairie - Win by 40
-It's senior night at Pennington, last chance for everyone to play at home. Grand Prairie is a good way to end it.

That is my prediction. Of course it is just a prediction and a little bit out on a limb many will think, but hey we have dreams and we want them to come true. Predict how you think your team will do this season here.

Abilene Cooper

Aug. 26 @ Mansfield Summit - Win by 17
Summit has undergone a lot of changes as has Cooper. I just think our changes are for the better.

Sept. 3 @ Brownwood - Win by 7
I think Brownwood will be the toughest test of our pre-district schedule. We blew them out last year, but they are greatly improved.

Sept. 9 @ Del Rio - Win by 28
It's Del Rio... nuff said.

Sept. 16 vs. San Angelo Central - Win by 10
We have a really tough time playing these guys in San Angelo. However, this game isnt in San Angelo. ;)

Sept. 23 @ Lubbock Coronado - Win by 14
Cooper owns Coronado in pretty much every way one team can own another, but the Mustangs pulled the upset on us last year. Revenge will be sweet.

Oct. 7 @ Midland Lee - Win by 10
I dont really have any clue as to how this game will end up. I just hope we win.

Oct. 14 vs. Odessa - Win by 28
See Del Rio.

Oct. 21 @ Midland - Win by 14
These guys kept us out of the playoffs last year. They will pay.

Oct. 28 vs. Abilene - Win by 3
The Showdown at Shotwell will once again be a back and forth sluggfest with Cooper taking the victoy thanks to a FG in OT.

Nov. 4 vs. Odessa Permian
Mojo is coming back, but they still have a ways to go. Wouldnt be surprised if a playoff spot is on the line here.

After a 10-0 regular season, the Coogs will cap off a perfect 16-0 season with a damatic win over Katy in the 5A Div. II Texas Bowl.

nice picks jtk. where's the strength coming from that wasn't evident last year?

btw, i predict slc goes either 14-1 or 16-0. the semi final winner up north takes it all.

BHS O6, I thought you said all the *** smokers were gone from last years team!!!! JK, I don't want to sound negative so I am going to wish you luck with that 8-2 season. Looks like I'll be signing on about 8 Saturdays to congratulate you guys. Work hard, you are going to need it in that tough district ya'll play in.......

TrueBlue

Sherrod Harris will most likely be playing in the opener vs Bell -- it appears that the hernia was a misdiagnosis and from what I understand he is back practicing and set to participate in Bowie's scrimmage this weekend -- Bell should still win this one --

August 26th, @ Marshall - While the Mavericks are getting better, their offense has lost some of their key players from last year and J. Robinson always seems to fumble glore when they play us. While it'll be close, the Lobos pull away late.
Longview-42 Marshall-24

September 3rd, vs West Monroe - West Monroe, like Marshall, lost key parts to last year's State Finalist Offense. If WM were to win, the D would have to. The decision on their transferring QB could make a big difference if the game is close or not.
Longview-35 West Monroe-21
Ok Update just got word he's allowed to play

September 9th, @ Lake Highlands - LH might be improved a little, but so are we. Longview in another blow out
Longview-49 Lake Highlands-14

September 16th, vs Evangel - Another tough test for the Lobos. Gonna be a hard one but I think the Lobos can pull another one off. If anyone IMO is going to bet us it'll be Evangel IMO but I'll go with Longview in another close one.
Longview-28 Evangel-24

September 23rd, @ Mesquite - Lost a lot and shouldnt be able to turn around if they start 0-5 again.
Longview-31 Mesquite-7

September 30th, vs Mesquite Horn - While improved, it'll be another year before we see the Jaguars compete for a playoff position.
Longview-42 Mesquite Horn-10

October 6th or 7th, @ Tyler Lee - Toughest district competition no question for the Lobos. Another dog fight againist the Lee Red Raiders. 4 straight for the Lobos at Rose Stadium and 5-1 in the past 6 games there. (Only losing to Lp in the playoffs). Two straight againist Lee. While Lee loses a lot they still have a lot coming back. It'll be a dog fight but ultimately the Lobos come out and attack.
Longview-35 Tyler Lee-31

October 14th, vs Rockwall - I think this is the game most Lobo fans want to make sure we dont have another appearance like we did last year. New coach for Rockwall and its at Lobo Stadium where only Tyler Lee and Lufkin have beaten them since the 2000 season when Monroe Ouachita beat them 33-14. So since 2000 we are 21-6 at Lobo Stadium with Monroe Ouachita beating us once, Tyler Lee twice, and Lufkin three times. Longview pulls away and wins big.
Longview-38 Rockwall-14

October 28th, @ North Mesquite - Big test for the Lobos for sure here againist North Mesquite. Big time improved IMO. It'll be close but the Lobos pull away late.
Longview-28 North Mesquite-17

November 4th, vs John Tyler - John Tyler's expects a new winning attitude for them this year but I just dont see it happening. A new coach. A new system. A SMALL team for a 5A team. I just dont see it being that close at all
Longview-52 John Tyler-14

We'll see how it goes in the playoffs.

If every team is going to have a winning season, how are the playoffs decided? Somebody has got to lose, otherwise you just have a bunch of tie games... then what?

BTW, I am predicting the Hutto Hustlin' Hippos will go 7-3

Zero week
Leander vs Westlake
Two very evenly matched teams in my opinion with high powered offenses. Could end up being a shoot out with either team winning (i dont see a blow out in this game) but i'll take our home field advantage in a close game.
Leander 38 Westlake 31

Week One
Leander vs Austin Reagan
Very big mismatch in this game, and to top it all off, this is homecoming. After the 78-18 thumping we put on them in 03 we tried to get them off our schedule, but no luck. The combined score of this game over the last two years has been 140-30 in our favor. No different this year.
Leander 56 Austin Reagan 7

Week two
Leander @ Bryan
This game scares me. Last year this game was on a Thursday night and little to no Bryan fans showed up due to the fact that it was a week night. If im not mistaken this is on Thursday again and theres no way we get a solid crowd to travel 100 miles or so on a week night. I think we are the better team in this game, but with a lack of fan support in this game it could really hurt us.
Leander 24 Bryan 20

Week three
Bye

Week four
Leander @ RR McNeil
Nows where the fun begins. I don't see us running the table in the regular season and this is a very loseable game IMO. Solid team that will likely be 3-0 when we play them due to their weak schedule and we're at their house, and in the words of UnderArmor "They must protect their house" lol. Even after bye week preperations i think this is the game we lose this year in the regular season.
Leander 14 RR McNeil 20

Week five
Leander vs Round Rock
Decent up and coming team with a division one caliber running back in Chris Johnson (6'0" 205 timed as a 4.41 at the nike camp in Fort Worth). However Round Rock doesnt have the caliber players to beat us at their house, let alone our house.
Leander 42 Round Rock 17

Week six
Leander @ Georgetown
This is where the wheels came off us Lenader last year. Georgetown is expected to be one of the bottom 3 teams in our district this year and i dont see them pulling a fast one on us this year considering the players they lost to graduation last year
Leander 31 Georgetown 0

Week seven
Leander vs RR Westwood
RR Westwood was a poor mans version of Texas Tech last year with their pass 90% run 5% run a trick play 5% type offense last year. Our secondary was the weakest part of our team last year. This year with 3 of the 4 coming back and all of them healthy they are the anchor of our defense. Not sure of his name but look for the Westwood qb to throw for about 250 yards with maybe 2 tds and 4 ints.
Leander 49 RR Westwood 21

Week eight
Leander @ RR Stony Point
Has been the worst team in our district forever and nothing will change. Thats all i need to say
Leander 42 RR Stony Point 7

Week nine
Leander vs Pflugerville
This is a very key game in our season considering Pflugerville beat RR McNeil a week ago. If we win this game their will then be a three way tie for 1st in our district. This game always comes down to the last team that messes up losses. And 3 out of the last four years that team has been pflugerville. Coach Herm i feel is one of the worst coaches on one of the most talented teams and always seems to find ways to big games. I'm gonna say Antwan will have 140 yards rushing but when the game is tied up, he'll try to air it out and Tyler Beaty wil throw a pick.
Leander 31 Pflugerville 28

Week ten
Leander @ Cedar Park
Considering Cedar Park plays their home games on our home field, and our home field is on Leanders campus, this is considered a home game where we sit on the visitors side. We will have more attendence then them naturally since its in Leander and this team lost way to much to make this a ball game.
Leander 35 Cedar Park 14

Their will be a three way tie for distict champs with Leander, Pflugerville, and RR McNeil. I say we either lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Copperas Cove or the 4th round to Lufkin, if you look at our path in the playoffs. So either 10-2 or 12-2 my prediction. Sorry for making that so long  .

Where are all of the Pack fans?

I am not going to predict game by game, but if the past five years is any indication we will go deep in the playoffs. I am hopeful to matchup with SLC again whether that means we go 14-1, 15-1 or 12-4, it doesn't really matter to me. I believe our hardest regular season games are going to be Aldine Eisenhower and the Woodlands. I am not saying the others are going to be easy, but I believe these will be tough ones.

August 26 @ Elsik

Game is close for a quarter then Mustangs blow it open and win in Mustang fashion.

September 2 Hastings

NS runs away with this due to just too much fire power for a declining Hastings to over come.

September 10 @ The Woodlands

The Woodlands/North Shore III. Will most likely be the toughtest competition North Shore will face until they meet Pearland in the first round of the playoffs.

September 23 * LaPorte

May be some rust after having a week off though once everyone gets back focused North Shore runs away despite a first half push from the Bulldogs.

September 30 * @ Dobie Pasadena

Dobie will most likely be the runner up behind Norht Shore. And while a vastly improvign team they still don't what is need to really compete with the Mustangs.

October 7 * Sam Rayburn

This one will most likely be over before half time.

October 13 * @ South Houston

Another one that is going to be over and doen by half time.

October 21 Friday * Deer Park

Deer Park has always put up a good fight taking the Mustangs to double overtime a few years ago. With a year under the new coach and offense under their belt they mayput up anothe rgood fight but will fall once again to NS.

October 28 Friday * Pasadena

This one is over before half time.

November 3 @ * Pasadena Memorial

If this one turns out anything like last years game it'll be over after the first quarter.

Another Ten win season for the Mustangs.

Again, bhs06 has lost it!! An 8-2 season for you guys is like surviving jumping from a plane without a parachute. You can bet the farm that you will NOT beat Trinity, among a few others. Maybe you should dream about a 6-4 season at best. Good luck though...

nicely said!!!!! I couldnt have put it any better. Cant wait till the woodlands game though but ns just has too much size and speed. Once district starts its kinda boring. you just have to sit back and wait for the playoffs.

Okay. Without going into book mode and making it as short as I can, here it goes:

8/26 - Bryan @ Bryan - They always bring a pretty strong crowd to the home games - Hard to win there. It's only a preseason game and not a live or die situation but I will pick Falls in this one by 3

9/1 - Westfield - I love the Eagles but we've played these guys 2 times in the past 12 months - this will be 3 - with little or no success and they are just phenomenal. I want to pick Falls by 1 but I think I'll have to go with Westfield by 10 - hope I'm wrong - it is a Thursday game after all and weirder things happen.

9/10 - Cy-Fair - Bobcats are going to be in the top of the heap when the season is over but it will have to wait until after this game - Conteh is gone but they are still loaded - Falls by 3

9/17 - Langham Creek - Big Rivalry here - anything could happen. I just think they are missing strength in a couple of areas - Falls by 13

9/23 - Cy Creek - They surprised the Eagles last year with a very big win (and extremely disappointing loss for us). This time we are ready - Falls by 17

9/30 - Cy Springs - This is my dark horse pick - Falls needs to be on their toes with these guys...don't know why - just a gut feeling. However, Falls by 7

10/8 - Jersey Village - ALWAYS an exciting game. Falls has beat them the last two years after losing the first 10 in school history. This one is a toss up...Overtime game....lots of chewed off fingernails on my hand - kids irritated with me from all the screaming - typical JV game.

10/14 - Cy Ridge - I think the Eagles will be trying to get them back for that frustrating loss last year. They have lost a lot of talent from last years team but Tacaks is still there so the Eagles need to watch him.

10/28 - Tomball - may be gunning for us after last year's loss but I think the Eagles will handle it fine - Falls by 10

11/3 - Magnolia - We beat them last year with their famous announcer calling the plays - we'll do it agains this year without him!! That guy is more interested in the cost of the hot dogs at the concession stand than the game - unless his Bulldogs are winning. He is funny though - Falls by 20

I'm not sure why. I didn't want to say we're going to have a perfect season so I had to pick at least one loss so I chose North.
