I hear there's a rivalry game in East Texas...:D

Are tickets still available? This is Lubbock High's bye week and this would be a good time to head to Lufkin. I would love to see the Longview/Lufkin matchup and it's on a Thursday. Fits perfect on my schedule.

I know it's unlikely that tickets are available because of the high profile attention it's receiving (It IS on TV). So if this game is not available, what other teams are playing on October 5th?

You should be able to get tickets, i didnt have a problem the past couple of years for this biggy. You might wanna head to Lufkin the beginning of that week and get them.

TIckets usually go on sale Wednesday of each week. However, they may move up a day because of the Thursday game.

Like someone said above, tickets won't go on sale till the week of the game, so if you get their early enough in the week they should be there.

I'm pretty sure here in Longview they'll go in sale on Tuesday. But don't hold me to that.

If you get to the stadium by about 4:45 tomorrow afternoon, you should be able to get a ticket at the gate. You may be on either the visitors side or in the grass. If im not mistaken, the only general seats on the home side of Abe Martin are the student section.

Well I wonder if maybe I could get you a "student" ticket and you could use it to get in on the away side or even sneak past em' at the home side...I did have an extra reserved but I never saw this thread and I just gave it away.

The grass will be just fine--as long as I get in the game.

I should be there before 4 p.m.

The game is on television? I didn't know that. Knock me down with a feather.

I guess I better stay home...it just as good as watching the team in person.

Hell, I want to go see the Berry Center. But since it is in Houston, it is pretty far from Lubbock. I guess I can only dream.

Man...that was ONE LOOOOOONG DRIVE.

I'm in Round Rock now where I'll be staying for the night.
So far, I've traveled 776 miles on this trip alone so far (OUCH!!!).

The trip to Lufkin was worth it though. Great atmosphere to be apart of. I got to Lufkin at about 5:00 p.m. and got some general admission tickets on the home side. The home side was PACKED!!!! There were people sitting on the stairs of the grandstands. I thought the visitor's side was going to be a little empty at first. Just before game time, it started to fill out. I was also suprised to see such a large amount of Lufkin fans on the visitor's side.

There was also a good amount of people on the grass. The cameras were everywhere. Brought my own of course (will post pics when I get back to Lubbock).

The game was not bad. Lufkin grabbed the early lead but the XP was no good due to a good snapped ball not being caught. Longview drove the ball down the field to score a touchdown on a pass play. XP is good. Longview had the lead 7-6. That was their last lead. Thirty points later due to great passes by Jeremy Claybon, Lufkin had seized control of the game. Dez Bryant was making good breaks on the ball. I can't remember which receiver made a great catch in the end zone to make it 12-7 Panthers, though. The running back Jacorey Turner was able to bust through the line and make Longview pay whenever there was a hint of daylight. The first half, the Lobos were off-balanced as the highly talented and skilled Panther O had a well-balanced passing and running attack. The defense of the Panthers was able to cover the Longview receivers from catching long balls in the first half. The line of the Panthers contained off-tackle run plays. The def. line seemed to shoot a variety of gaps to have the Lobos O-line guessing which way will they be attacking.

Of course, giving great field position to Lufkin doesn't help your cause. Two costly turnovers by Longview gave a short field to the Panthers. They took advantage, quickly.

Give credit to Longview, though. They didn't roll over and die. Around the middle of the third quarter until the last 3:00, Longview clearly outplayed Lufkin. Longview was able to score 20 more points thanks to great power running and good throws by their own quarterback. The Longview Lobos were able to score 2 touchdowns on offense in the second half. This includes a 4th and goal on the 1--Longview was able to punch it in with a power run between the tackles. The defense from Longview was still bending with some good runs by Turner of the Panthers. However, they were now putting pressure on the star QB of Lufkin--he was throwing earlier now than he wanted.

A nice play on special teams. Lufkin was attempting a fairly long field goal (about 45 yards or so), but it was blocked!!!! A Longview player picked it up in the air--and ran it all the way back for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed.

Lufkin 37 Longview 27. The game was getting a little closer. However, that was as close as it would get. Claybon officially put it away with a fantastic pass that was caught by the receiver perfectly in stride (XP was good). Longview couldn't convert a fourth down this go around.

The game was over.

Great job by the Panthers and I was glad to see Longview fight back.

It was well worth the trip.

:D

Plus, there was a cookout with FREE food!!! Bratwurst dog and cokes for FREE!!!
