Coming to a town near you

Guys (and a few women),

I'm finally ready for football. I haven't really given it much thought, but I sat down and looked at the schedule to plan where I'll go this year and there are some games I'm really looking forward to going to. I'll take suggestions, but I'd like to hear the justification why I need to go to the game you want me to go to. The ground rules are that I have to go to San Antonio some weekends and will only consider Friday night games in the Wichita Falls area or loosely on the way to SA. I really don't want to have to travel far on Thursday night and come back to work the next day because there will be another game I go to then. Saturday games are cool, but I didn't see nearly as many good one's as I thought I would. I'll ask a few questions, so please answer and thanks for your thoughts. Home teams are listed last and this is what I'm considering right now:

This is a tough week. We have the Mesquite double-dip and the West Texas rivalry games. What's the best West Texas inter-city matchup to attend? I know Abilene-A Cooper has been a real good game in recent years. All these good games are on my mom's birthday, so I may go to Longview and miss all of them! :mad:

I have to go to SA and am pretty set on the city matchup on the 4th. The 5th is open.

Most Houston teams don't do it for me and outside of that one Katy game, it doesn't look like they fit my schedule. Lufkin sure didn't have anything for me to go to. Longview and T Lee only fit my schedule when they're in Dallas. The Little SWC fits in a lot of weeks and Dallas fits easier than the other 5A areas. SA fits when I have to go there and so does Central Texas on those weekends. I don't seen anything for me in El Paso, Lubbock, or Amarillo. I'm more than willing to go to a lower classification game that's a real good rivalry. When does Brownwood and Stephenville play? How about Randolph and Cole? My good link isn't working right now.

Longview is playing Lee a week I have to go to SA. Almost all of Lee and Longview's home games are in weeks I have to go south. I'll either get the girls on Friday nights or sometimes Saturday mornings, but ET doesn't work on those weeks.

I said Lake Highlands because they aren't regarded badly. I know Longview pounds them, but I usually go to games to see the better team and not as much to see how good the game will be.

I still don't know about Saturday. It might be a last-minute thing. I didn't even go to Judson's inter-squad scrimmage last week. I need to clean my house after the girls went through it like a tornado for a couple months. I still have pictures to put on the wall and stuff to unpack at work! :eek:

Lonny, you need to check out the Madison vs. MacArthur game on Sat Nov 5th. The M&M Bowl. MacArthur has looked very good during Spring and early practices this last week. We'll know more on them by Nov 5th but that game could be for the 3rd playoff spot in 265a. I'm sure Madison wants a little revenge from their beating last year at the hands of Mac.
Also, keep an eye on Oct 7th- SV vs Mac. Last years game was a nail biter down to the last play of the game. SV won 21-14 but Mac's D held SV in check. A lot will depend if Mac is as good as I think they will be. They are a bigger/faster team this year and they have shown to have a running game as well. There was no running game last year.

the way it's looking I might not go to P.A. for the game of the year. If the gas prices go down then i'll see. Looks like the only P.A. game i'll be going to in September is the one in Midland. :(

The job pays for all the fun. Hey, I like football and that schedule is fun and how I like to live life.

Pull out a map and look at it. 2 or 3 weekends every month I have to drive to San Antonio from Wichita Falls and back. I've already been to every county and drove on the vast majority of the roads in the State Highway System and this will be great. I'm going to drive through Stephenville sometimes, so I might as well do it for the Brownwood game. Why not leave work early to get to Cove for the Judson game. I might as well go through Abilene and Dallas some weeks when they have good games. I'm going to see Judson's 4 biggest games of the year and none of them are special trips.

It's one of the better places to go, but not at the top. If you can't go to UAE, Qatar, or Kuwait the next best thing is Kyrgyzstan. The first 3 are the jewels of the Iraqi Theatre and this one is the jewel of the Afghanistan region.

The Alaska large school championship game is scheduled for October 22. Then the state shuts down for the winter.
When I lived in Alaska, they only had 1 champion and it was too hard for guys like Kodiak, Palmer, and Soldotna to win. The Anchorage and Fairbanks schools always won state. Football starts at the beginning of August before school and they only play like 7 or 8 regular season games before the playoffs. It seems like Bartlett (Anchorage), Lathrop (Fairbanks), and Eielson (Eielson AFB right outside of Fairbanks) won the 3 state titles from 1991-1993 and I was gone before the 1994 title game.

Information and how much is out there is the hardest obstacle to tackle when it comes to government and the military. Even in sports, you don't talk about trades until after you make them. I can't say what bases do or give numbers about people, planes, weapons and all that. It makes it easier for the enemy to plan an attack.

For the guys who never joined the military or were a cop, you'd start looking around more for bad guys if it was drilled in your head. They tell us to vary routes to avoid attacks and do things to make ourselves less of a target for attack.

Guys (and a few women),

I'm finally ready for football. I haven't really given it much thought, but I sat down and looked at the schedule to plan where I'll go this year and there are some games I'm really looking forward to going to. I'll take suggestions, but I'd like to hear the justification why I need to go to the game you want me to go to. The ground rules are that I have to go to San Antonio some weekends and will only consider Friday night games in the Wichita Falls area or loosely on the way to SA. I really don't want to have to travel far on Thursday night and come back to work the next day because there will be another game I go to then. Saturday games are cool, but I didn't see nearly as many good one's as I thought I would. I'll ask a few questions, so please answer and thanks for your thoughts. Home teams are listed last and this is what I'm considering right now:

This is a tough week. We have the Mesquite double-dip and the West Texas rivalry games. What's the best West Texas inter-city matchup to attend? I know Abilene-A Cooper has been a real good game in recent years. All these good games are on my mom's birthday, so I may go to Longview and miss all of them! :mad:

I have to go to SA and am pretty set on the city matchup on the 4th. The 5th is open.

Most Houston teams don't do it for me and outside of that one Katy game, it doesn't look like they fit my schedule. Lufkin sure didn't have anything for me to go to. Longview and T Lee only fit my schedule when they're in Dallas. The Little SWC fits in a lot of weeks and Dallas fits easier than the other 5A areas. SA fits when I have to go there and so does Central Texas on those weekends. I don't seen anything for me in El Paso, Lubbock, or Amarillo. I'm more than willing to go to a lower classification game that's a real good rivalry. When does Brownwood and Stephenville play? How about Randolph and Cole? My good link isn't working right now.
