from reading lpfan on this board i was thinking of this idea. I just posted this on the pantherwebsite. I think this would be so cool.

Well was on the texas 5afootball board and they were talking about getting together and playing a football game then a idea came to my mind. you know how the panther baseball team plays the 100 ining game to raise money.

What if the panthers got together and played all the former panthers in a game of 7 on 7 to raise money for other events on the campus or for cancer or something make it a saturday night at old abe and a BBQ and have the current panthers play agains a team of former panthers in some 7 on 7 or 8 on 8 flag football game and have people donate money to come to the game and to pay like 5 dollars or so for a plate of bbq an have some of your past great panthers play the panthers of today. this would be something fun to watch and i am sure that there are some former panthers that would love to come out to that field and play a game one last time at old abe. I would fly in from sandiego for that one and play or just to watch. just a idea that if someone talked to outlaw about it i am sure we could get something like this started in lufkin. this would be fun.

That's a great idea. But convincing Texas Department of Corrections to let out some of the Panthers greats of old might be tricky.

you might want to do it after the season, so wide doesnt "accidently" tackle somebody..

If it were a tackle game...I'll be the first to say..I want no part in that.
Those kids are quick,in shape, and bad to the bone...Plus if I did "accidently" tackle one of 'em and they got hurt...The entire town of Lufkin would hunt me down and tar and feather me.

Wide i would not play if TJ Turner and Jeffrey Rodgers are playing if you decide to play tackle!! Speaking of which, Have you seen Larry Davis lately?? HUGE DUDE!! probably 6'9 300 plus. That is Javorski's and Jermichael uncle who played in the NBA. There dad is not tiny either!! Probably 6'5 280??

Wide, I don,t think that statement was in good taste, and is something that is rather offensive. Having been a employee of that dept. there is nothing amusing about anyone being in prison. They made a mistake and have been judged and paying the cost, hopefully they have learn their lesson.

Speaking of former panthers!! My son's new pe coach this year is Ronnie Blake!! That name really rings a bell?? Wasn't he a great Panther back in the late 70's or something like that?? I do not know if it is the same guy but i am betting it is?? Does anybody know??

Considering I personally know all the guys I was referring to...I don't think they would mind my joke. In fact they would probably laugh at you coming to their defense. FYI...I worked for TDCJ for about 3 years before I went into the military. Besides all that....my comment was true and you know it.

How about Lobos vs. Panthers. That has much more appeal. Me, Bleed, LoboFan, Round, RP-3 and whoever else will take y'all on. I for one would like a shot at some of you oldtimers. LOL

We ARE talking about baseball right?
I didn't have the best experiences playing Longview during
the Culpepper era. Don't know if I want to re-live that...
They used to come down to the Jr. High field out of the damn woods....
We all just looked at each other..."Who are these dudes?"

I played baseball in 95-97----#9....went and played college a couple years at Tarleton State, then moved up to Dallas. Played football in 8th and 9th, but at that time, LP didnt really have a great squad, so opted soley to play baseball. Always been a fan though...enjoy watching, especially the past 5-6 years. You play any other sports in h.s.?

Tarleton...hey that's out here in my neck of the woods...right?
If you were at LHS in 95...you might know my boy Mitch Carlin...he's
the one that just left for Iraq.

Yep...I played ball with Cory's brother Jason.
One of the fastest white dudes on the planet.
Hit it anywhere in the outfield and he would go
