He had 138 yards, 3 touchdown on 9 catches in the first half. Man he is beast!!!!

Dez simply over-matched his man all day - probably could have had 25 catches if they had wanted to.

And yet the inside receivers were open all day long on the middle slant patterns. I counted maybe 3 balls thrown their way. If Lufkin will spread the ball around some, they will be unstoppable.

Lufkin was playing without their 2 starting inside receivers in Mcduffy and Johnson. They also lost J Smiley early. They all have minor injuries and should be back next week.

Dont give all the glory to Dez Bryant he didnt do it all. Give credit to the o-line for maintaining blocks and give credit to claybon for getting the passes to him. Dont glorify one person on a team effort. O-line rarely gets any credit so lets give them some credit for the blocking and to the quarterback for the passes...

Well of course you give credit to everybody but most of the time there is not much too it. Just throw it up there and he will go get it. Many of his catches were on fade routes. Fade routes do not take much blocking, and all the qb has to do is throw it up for grabs and let Dez do the rest. The guy is on another level and I am not just saying that as a Lufkin homer.

i am a lufkin fan too i go to school there, but you still have to give credit to those guys to sometimes it is good for someone to congradulate the o-line for what they have done. They are the ones who recieve the least credit of anyone... Is Dez good? Yes but we still have to see how he does against a tough team.. Then everyone can say he's on another level

Texasboy?? Yes you give credit to the whole team but what are you talking about Dez needs to prove himself against a tough team? What does he have 4 td's in 2 games vs the #1 team in the nation? Come on bro? It does not matter who is covering him if it is 1 on 1.

I know Dez can run the fades routes. But, how is he on the slants & digs and any other crossing patterns ? I saw Dez play 2 years ago (10th grader) and I was pretty impressed by him for being a 10th grader.
But, I've also seen alot of "GREAT" High school Wr's that were good at running 9 routes (bombs) and (fades) and just out-leaping their opponent because they were better athlete. But, they werent great at running across the middle of the field and seemed to almost be timid about crossing the middle. Will Dez run across the middle on a slant and keep his eyes on the ball ??
I do think he is a great athlete.
PS. Anyone know what college he is leaning toward ??

what they really had him doin yesterday, was mostly just seam routes, flair routes and out routes. they work though and his size is a big advantage especially against smaller db's.that reciever is their offense. they have anouther #18 that is good to. they success is centered off the big play.i like they secondary. they go for the pick in sted of just thinkin about covering the guy knockin the ball down.that really hepls the out team out.

#18 is James Davis, he was the JV QB last year along with #11 Nobles. LP has a group of very talented xcvrs that are underclassmen.
Having a xcvr like Dez on the field will cause problems with defenses that may not show up in the personal score book for him. I am sure they try to match their best coverman on him all night, which opens the field to the others.
I was impressed with #22 TreVon Lewis @ RB and he is only a Sophomore. Not takin anything away from Turner, but Lewis appeared to have had a better day running in yds per carry.

haha that game will never happen we all know this. No I just want to see how he does in tough times, he did it last year but things do change with time this we should all know about. If he did that against the number one team in the nation he would be a genetic freak

He was referring to the 2 games against SLC in the playoffs in '04 and '05.

read between the lines my friend. He has played against the #1 team in the nation twice and he has 4 td's.
Texasfrog, Dez can do it all IMO. slants, outs, fades, seam routes. He is truely on another level for a hs wr.

Well, if I remember right, I heard that Outlaw said he thinks he Lewis could easily be the best runningback Lufkin has ever had if he develops quick enough. I think next year, he will have a very good season. Also, does anyone know how to put a picture of the home uniforms on here so everyone can see them. I saw them on the Lufkin Daily news, but can not figure out how to put them on here. I think those jerseys look VERY intimidating.

Yes Lewis has been hyped a lot and yes Outlaw did say that!! He averaged over 200 yards a game as an 8th or 9th grader. He will split time with a very explosive J Turner this year.

My cousin, who plays for Houston Stratford, and the 7 on 7 team; played against Lufkin and Dez Bryant this summer. My cousin said that Dez Bryant is one of the best athletes he has ever seen.

Just so it is known, #6 is Josh Sanders, JR. He is fast as lightning but not many know it...he is in my class and he has been quick since middle school. I think he was one of 2 kids in 8th grade to break the 5.0 mark...maybe that doesn't say much but it says something...I believe he is around a 4.4-4.5 range now.

Boy! You act like you have everybody figured out on Lufkin? Lewis has averaged almost 9 yards per carry in his first 2 games as a sophomore so I think he has started just fine. By the way, 2 of Lufkin's starting wr's were out yesterday in Eric Johnson and Mcduffie. The next backup got hurt in the 1st quarter. The only starting wr's you saw were on the outside and they were Dez Bryant and James Davis. Both are 6'2 and right at 200lbs. Of course Dez is the key for LP at wr?? He is only one of the top wr recruits in the nation.
