NBC will have a tough time editing out all the game footage so that Dillion High School gets a W tonight. :)
Memo to Baylor Fans: Kicker Shea Brewster is the real deal. He did miss one FG that looked very good to me (hey, I'm a homer!), but he did connect on a 43 yarder to open the game scoring.
Next series, P-ville fumbles, OLB CLayton Hanks takes it in for 6, Brewster for the PAT.
Teams go back and forth the rest of the half, score 10-0.
Consol's defense looked very very strong. The offense wasn't hitting on all cylinders. A couple of dropped passes and an errant throw or three and drives continued to stall.
2nd half was pretty much all Consol. The running game got in gear and P-ville couldn't stop it. 17-0.
P-ville's QB is a good athlete. P-ville does manage to score a TD. 17-6.
ACM puts together two long methodical drives and notches two unanswered TD's.
The 2nd half showed an o-line that came together and put together some strong blocking. There must have been 7 running backs that will come away with stats.
I'm not satisfied right now by any stretch, but I saw about what I expected to see and I like the way things are looking. Leander will be a very tough test next week. Both sides should be up for it.

Man, from what I saw your boys looked pretty good. High expectations definitely has an impact on the field, though. I personally think Pflugerville's defense had something to do with AMC's lack of ball movement in the first half. They do have pretty good team speed--better them most teams. It would have been 3-0 at the half w/o that fumble. AMC took Pflugerville out of their game early--running. And just plain wore them out in the second half. Conditoning definitely pays off--especially on a night as hot and muggy as it was last night at The Palace.

Coach Jim Slaughter and his staff do an outstanding job of getting their players prepared for games...the preparation allows for adjustments as the game progresses.

Dang dood! I gotta sleep sometime! :)
Actually, I was up till 3 in the AM uploading the first half. I'm now going through the 2nd half flash card to edit out the ones that were out of focus, etc. When I get done with that, I'll upload them in a while.
Patience, young skywalker.
On the subject of P-ville D taking us out of our game, I think it was more not firing on all cylinders. I just watched the game film and it confirms to me what I'm saying. Snapping the ball over the punters head, throwing the INT behind an open TE, tossing the ball out of bounds with an open receiver, two really good open receivers just dropping or juggling balls. That stuff was in no way contributable to the defense. THe O was just a bit out of sync.
This time of year, defenses are normally a lot further along than offenses.
I'm a self-admitted homer, so take my comments with a large chunk of salt.

No problem on the homer part, I totally understand. But we get to play P-ville year in and year out and they are always good. McNeil and P-Ville have a pretty good rivalry going since the schools are both N. Austin and are only a few miles apart. 14-5A is a tough district and I'm convinced that just about any team from this district on any given night can pull an upset over a very good opponent. AMC is good, no doubt, but you beat a good program in P-Ville.

I was expecting big trouble out of P-ville last season in the playoffs. Cobb was such a hoss. I'm not sure how many yards he had but it wasn't many. Quite a bit of last year's defense is back in this year's team. Two of the four d-line headed off to college (Scott to Mizzou, not sure where Daily went) and we lost a great DB and LB. But, guys have stepped up at LB and DB. The D went to 3-4 due to an abundance of talent at LB.
P-ville's offense only had one returning starter. It showed up against a very experienced defense. That QB is slippery. He's going to give some teams absolute fits. He hides the ball on his hip better than any QB I saw last season. Watch that play. He's very cool pausing there for a moment with his back to the defense, then he's off around the corner. Their o-line is still coming together. Give them a few more games and they should solidify.
Leander next week, Westlake in two weeks, Katy in three weeks...
The Aggies should look into this concept of scheduling quality opponents. Its the only way you get better. No matter what the record is after 4 games, I'm betting Consol will know what they have to work on going into district play.

Hmmmm... Pflugerville, Leander this year. AMC vs Mcneil sometime? Would love to see 'em go at it.

That is the reason that Leander scheduled Judson and ACM. It is hard to improve when your beating up on teams such as Austin Reagan every year.

I'd say this migth be the best game in Austin next saturday night, including that small get together with those boys from Ohio down the road in orange land. :D

That was a great game for us! I really like your photos...in particular the ones of Daniel Trampota on the 45 yd. run down the Tiger sideline! You take some spectacular photos. I hope you get some just as good as these vs. Leander.

Leander will give A&M all they can handle. The quarterback is the key, and that 44 on defense is a stud. This should be a great game if played in Leander then I will go with them by 3.

44 is Clayton Hanks. After last year's powerlifting meets, he's definitely the strongest young man on the team. 5'10" 202 lbs And, I'm with your TexRed, we are definitely the underdog...

You've lost your perspective just a little. A high school game might be the best game in in your town, not in Austin!!!

I really can't argue with you on this one. HS football is just better in that you can play all the difficult opponents in the non-district and a loss won't affect your ability to win the State Championship. So, you play the best, you get better. In college, you have to run in a popularity contest, you have to play some cream puffs to pump up your win total.
Imagine the poor schmucks that just dropped $55 a ticket to see the Aggies play the Citadel. Or Colorado and Montana State. Blah blah blah UT seems to be the exception to the rule at least for *next* week. THen they go back to playing small schools again.
Maybe college football needs a worthless pre-season like the NFL and we can officially not take it too seriously. I tried to point this HS versus College schedule thing out on a local call-in sports radio show. They hung up on me before I could even make my point. I guess they had to put their head back in the sand.

thats why college should have a championship tournament... where conference play decides who gets in and who doesnt... like hs football
