Hey, Marshall's revived as a program after last year. Plus, I like getting some of the big rivalry games in the Pick 'Em and it doesn't get much bigger than Longview-Marshall. One of the great rivalries in the state as far as I'm concerned.

Same holds true for Judson, SLC, Lufkin and SV.....reading on this board you would think they could compete for the rose bowl this year. :)

Mad Hatter, ktchamp will post the standings when he gets back from overseas during Week 1 of the season. He has the spreadsheet all the picks are going to. He's the Excel wiz, so I defer to him on that. Running standings will then be kept through the end of the season. Links will be provided on the board so you can see where you stand.

Even if they make it a good game we can always depend on Marshall's RB to turn the ball over. I think he has fumbled like 9 times against us the past two years. It's pretty ridiculous.

Definately a huge rivalry still. 3rd longest in the State of Texas. I think Longview will pull away in the 2nd half though. Longview 42-24 IMO.

What are the two oldest? I believe Lufkin and Nacogdoches first played in 1911. Nacogdoches dominated...prior to 1930.

Their first game was in 1906. There are proven records that Longview/Marshall was playing back in the 1880s. But the UIL starts record at 1909.

So by UIL records the first meeting between Mesquite and Garland was in 1935.

This is actually the first time since 1935 that Mesquite and Garland havent played each other. But offically the Mesquite/Garland Rivalry is only 70 years old.

What is amazing is in 1927 Nacogdoches led the series 11-1-3 and they still led 16-8-4 in '40. So...in the last 60 meetings Lufkin has won 52 of them with one tie. In the last 6 games Lufkin has outscored Nac 276-36!
