Shores' scrimmage went well Saturday. The Defense is really looking good. They (1st team) held Memorial to just a few 1st downs and no scores. You can tell they are ready. There was a bone crushing, bell ringing helmet removing hit by someone in the secondary at one point. You could hear it all over the stadium. The offense moved the ball well with the ground game and usually got their standard 5-15 yards a crack. It was typical NS ball playing. Although it was a scrimmage and you can't judge a season by it you could still tell Aymond has them together. They do need some tweaking in areas. The defense loves to hit and hit hard so if Shore is on your schedule this year you better bring your lunch bucket and get ready. What I love is that this whole team really has no recognized blue chip top 100 superstar by anyone's poll or list but they come to play ball.
I'm ready for Aldine.............:D

I think they scrimmaged Port Arthur Memorial - someone correct me if I'm wrong. I have no clue what their mascot is but Houston Memorial is Mustangs and R&W

If the defense is clicking like they were in the scrimmage on Saturday NS will win it. Like I said on a previous thread. NS was hitting really hard during the scrimmage.

LOL... Evidently you have never seen NS play. Memorial was wearing white pants with white jerseys with red numbers. NS was wearing white pants with black jerseys with no numbers.

hahaha. I take joy in watching north shore play, period. Good or bad teams..
Also never underestimate Ike, they have a whole lot of talent year in and year out.

I've heard some funny stories pertaining to the black pre game jersey's. I've heard everything guess they couldn't fford numbers for the pre game jersey's to may be they are trying to confuse the other team as to who is who. Which I guess for opposing players and fans I might be able to pick out the studs when they are looking alike. Though the people that follow the team know full well who is who. What i would like to see though is the black jersey become more than a pre game jersy. Can't you see them coming out of the tunnel or field house in a black jersey with red letters and numbers?

It was Spring Branch Memorial. And as squirrel said they had on white and NS had on black. It was not so much that Memorial was not doing well as it was what NS did well. Memorial showed up and I would compare them to LaPort. A good team but not a state contender. NS's receivers need to learn to catch so it was not all perfect but I felt they were where they should be at this point with the defense playing like mid season. NS and Memorial go way back. In NS's early years they were in a district with Spring Branch, Memorial, Springwoods and Aldine. My senior year, Memorial was state ranked, might've been no 1, and we knocked them off on their home turf. They should do ok in their district this year.

Memorial is always going to be competitive because Gary Koch is a fine coach who keeps it simple. While all the other coaches in the world are installing the spread option, shotgun, zone-blocking offense (it's amazing how all these coaches go to these clinics and then all of a sudden everybody runs the same offense), Gary has stuck to power football based on building a fine offensive line and letting them wear out the defense. That's why he can do it year after year in a smallish 5A school without much team speed.
Even in so-called down years like this one, I suspect Gary will have Memorial right there at the end of the year in his district, probably neck-and-neck with MacArthur and with Stratford having an outside shot if its defense can jell in time.
But Memorial is no match for the talent level of a North Shore. Good Lord what a perennial combination of speed and size!

From what I saw I think Memorial has a good team this year. I could tell at the scrimmage they were not intimidated but were there to work out the kinks
and look some people over. They have done well the last few years so the coach must be doing something right. Stratford seemed to be the big dog in SBISD for several years when Oscar Cripps was there but I don't hear much of them now.

Very true statement and a fine person too. One of the best, that one.
