Well, ladies and gentlemen. I'm off to the Austin area to catch a couple of scrimmages (and visit some relatives). Haven't decided the Friday scrimmage I'll attend but will be at RRISD athletic complex to watch Westlake and McNeil (I think it's McNeil) scrimmage Saturday.

Just only ONE more week til the REAL football starts. Wish everybody well and during the season I hope to meet one of you posters.

HA...HA...HA.... Veerrrry funny.

Sure, Lubbock has only summer, winter and dirt as seasons, but its still my home. The haunted plains is a good place to relax for me--until I have to drive on Loop 289. Traffic laws be damned!

I'll be at a Southlake Carroll game this year (right now it appears I'll be attending the Rockwall @ SLC game).

From what I've read, the Dragons have fielded a pretty decent team over the years. :p

One of our new employees loves Lubbock. This guy is from New Jersey and he's crazy about the town. Most people hate Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico but he thought those TDY's (temporary duty) were the bomb. All these guys would hate life having to temporarily work in Clovis and he was going to Lubbock every weekend to party. Needless to say, Lubbock had a few reasons to keep coming back!:D

Hey, I'm in the crowd of liking Lubbock.

I'm glad somebody does.

It's OK. Lubbock isn't everybody's cup of tea. Hell, sometimes it ain't mine (cause I don't like tea :p ). Still, it isn't the worst place in the world.

No, towns appeal to all varieties of people. As fate would have it, I'd hate to live in the towns where most of the Lubbock detractors live.

Hey, I'm just kidding..my daughter graduated from Tech and all her friends still live there....I've made the drive many a time, and once upon a time Lubbock Monty gave the Dragons all they could handle!

No worries. I wasn't upset at all. It was an attempt at some sarcastic humor on my part.

I remember that game. The local news covered it (the Powerhouse from the Metroplex--haven't lost a game in 5A as I remember it), and it was windy (surprise, surprise). Monterey did play a damn good game: a close 38-31 loss.

Still, I will be visiting Southlake this year. I've heard some great things about this community and would like to see the Dragons firsthand.

It was a fun couple of days down here in the Austin area. Got to see Judson ISD Stadium, RRISD complex and RR Dragon stadium. Alas, I have to go back home (have to work tommorow). Time to head on back to Lubbock.

Looking forward to the trip in Odessa. Hope you guys have a safe trip on your first game.

I can't wait for the season to begin!!!

Hey Rockland Dragon--tell us about the Westlake/McNeil scrimmage!

Hey Rockland Dragon--tell us about the Westlake/McNeil scrimmage!

I'm back in Lubbock. About 380 miles from Round Rock to Lubbock.

The Chaps seem to not have much to worry about. The quarterback was throwing good spirals. The team seems to have some good speed. The defense as a whole was swarming the ball well. Every time McNeil tried to sweep, Westlake was able to contain them well. Good solid hits. Westlake did not allow the McNeil runners to gain much yards after the play. A nice TD play and field goal is the scoring I saw from Westlake.

Still, McNeil had a few good plays (not any broken plays but good plays) and was able to cross the 50 a couple of times. Westlake created a turnover (and McNeil created one on their own). McNeil didn't score (but I left a little early--the first and second teams of McNeil did not score).

I'll try to upload a picture or two on the site.
