I wanna know what everyone thinks about Cove and how they will do.

I'll go on the record now and say this year's Cove team tops the 98 group led by Vontez Duff as far as how far they advance in the post-season. The Dawgs have the talent to go four rounds deep as long as they put things together as a team.

oh ya, I think Cove will do alright this year, but I don't see them winning state. They are ranked 1 better than J-Rock so I don't know.

Last year Cove smacked Abilene around in their scrimmage although that was just a scrimmage. They then turned around and outgained Judson but gave up the big plays that cost them the game. They then went on to run the table in 13-5A. This is a new year and they return 9 starters on offense and 9 on defense they should do okay especially with Judson at home which should be a great test as well as a very good game. Team is not very big but is very very fast no one in the district is close when it comes to team speed. Staying healthy and focused will be key for them. If they come together early they should do damage this year but they can't take a night off as they did against Cedar Park in round 2.

Evidently we were not watching the same scrimmage at Shotwell last year. Your D took it on the chin consistently but Potts and company did that to almost everyone. At best it was a draw. Not too bad to play a team like Abilene High even up in their backyard. :cool:

Cove deserves their preseason hype and ranking. They should have an excellent season. Will it be faster to go up 281 or 35 to CC, if you leave at 1PM? I know what's waiting in Austin, especially on a Friday.

As long as you get to Austin by 2pm and up I-35 you are alright.........

But, you can take 183 out towards Cedar Park and on into Cove by connecting to 290.

It's faster to Cove going up 281 because you avoid Austin, but you're driving in a straight pattern north and then east. 35 takes you northeast until you get to Belton and have to go back west.

Your figures for Cove are a little off. Cove has 13 returning lettermen and the figures on 2 sites say that you have 9 returning starters plus 4 members in the secondary that started at some point last year. The 10 1st or 2nd Team All-District players is good. You don't have returning depth, though.

I'll agree with you, provided 2 things are true:

1. You're coming from Converse or the northeast side of San Antonio.
2. You don't mind taking different roads.

He gave 2 choices of 35 and 281 and that's not always the quickest way. I love taking back/alternate roads but know many people who won't do that.

Last year going to Judson I spent an hour in traffic in Austin on 35. 183 out of Austin is not good either. There is construction in the Leander/Cedar Park area and traffic is always backed up there. Once in Cove you take a right on Martin Luther King (Traffic Light and 7-11 at the intersection) and then turn right onto Williams. That will take you right to the visitor parking lot and visitors side of Bulldawg Stadium.

We barely are pulling in 2000 kids. The only way we go d-1 is Shoemaker and Waco making the playoffs. Dont think that will happen

I stated last years playoff loss to make a point that they are a good team meaning Cove but they can't take a night off during the season or that score will be the result especially against a good team. And don't underestimate the depth of Cove they have some good players coming up from the JV ranks who are waiting to make a name for themselves. Did I say they are very fast well they are by the way :)

Judson will be the biggest test this year....and in district, AMC will be a toughy along with Waco since we have both games on the road..

I was still surprised Cedar Park handled CC so easily last year since Cedar Park wasn't much of an opponent for Lufkin - but I do understand CC just had a lousy game.

If CC brings back some folks from last year - they should be pretty salty.

Should be an outstanding game. Both teams have speed, especailly CC. CC's defense will have to be quick to counter the massive offensive line that Judson will start. This may be one of the biggest offensive lines who have good speed in Judson history. To play CC at CC after last year's game, I do beleive that the Dawgs will be ready.

I think if a team consistently makes the playoffs they are good. To be good you dont have to win a state championship every year. Ya I like Cove in a barnburner.

Ok a barnburner is where both teams are just scoring with ease.. It'll be a highscoring game. like 35-31, something like that
