Just want to get some opinions. I know I see more teams wanting to play Texas schools now more than ever before.

That's a good question. It seems to have definitely put the spotlight on our brand of football. I can't tell you how many e-mails I've received from people in other states, and even countries, since last fall asking about the events portrayed in the movie.

I sometimes wonder how long can schools keep scheduling out-of-state teams because of the cost. But then again I don't know how much money is generated by playing these schools. I know we play alot of teams from around the state since it's so much competition inside this United States of Texas. I sure think in the future we might start playing out-of-state teams like from Louisiana and Mississippi since we're kinda close.

Apparently the success of the film will also bring about more football and sports related movies as well. Courtnee Garcia - the stunt double for the No. 42 kid in FNL (Chris Comer?) tells me his "people" are talking to alot of producers about future football/sports related films.

Seems like the movie had more of an affect on those living outside of Texas. For all of us who've experienced Texas High School football first hand, Friday Night Lights just reaffirmed what we already knew.

I agree here, wasn't that big of a deal for those of us who have played in the Lone Star State!! :D

OH YA!! I was on the edge in some places but the main reason for that is because I would do almost ANYTHING to get back in those pads and play under those Friday Night Lights one more time!!

The spot light is on Texas, I mean everyone wants a peace of the best teams... I dont think its the fact the movie came out, but the fact that Southlake is number one in the Nation. If one thing happend and the other thing didnt, I dont think the spot light would be on Texas. Both of these events have giving America somthing to look at...Over the years Texas football will grow bigger, and sooner or later there very well could be a National play-off systim (which would be amazingly cool if you ask me)

That will never happen. If they can't make a simple playoff system in college I don't think it will happen for High School athletics across the nation.

I can't help but be a little concerned about all the "national" attention placed on Texas Highschool football. Is playing a good district rival week in and out, with the hopes of a playoff berth and state championship not enough anymore? I'm afraid all of this exposure may give some of our kids too much of an ego boost, and place priorities in the wrong order. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of sports in general, but just a little concerned about so much emphasis being placed on the revenue it would generate. (it would have to generate $100's KK to justify a national playoff system)

Hoping to not offend any of my Tyler Lee friends - but I gotta wonder about playing a team from Florida and then Ohio over a three week or so period - that seems like a big leap for an ET HS to me. Hope the kids can handle it.

It's a new kind of rivalry. I think they will be just fine.

I live in Florida (Miami) and the High school football is no where near the level of High school football in Texas. Some of the stronger teams have a few "athletes" on it that will go off to be great college players but the overall , Team, atmosphere and ect is very very VERY Dull.
The movie has brought alot of attention to Texas High school football. I have friends here that asked me if that's really how it is in Texas. I explain to them that some places its alot more passionate than others in Texas. But, a few regions in Texas like West Tx, East Tx and some of the stronger Programs in Dallas, Houston and Central Texas take their football like that in the movie.
I told them that its very common on most Friday nights in Texas to have 7,000-10,000 fans at a regular season game and they just think thats insane.
I've lived in California, Virginia and now Florida. I can tell you 100% without a doubt that Texas High school teams and fans take it about 90% more serious than those States.
Its Friday Nights in Texas. Between Texas and most other States. Its Night and Day.

What's up. I'm glad to see you reading on here. Let me teach you something ok there Mr. TxHSfootball. I'm the guy that said that there was 50 Programs in Texas that take it just as serious as California De La Salle.
You came back and laughed and made fun of me and kicked me off you're site and called me a MORON. Good to see you calling people "NAMES" on your website.
Especially people talking about Texas.
But, its time that I give you a lesson on what a PROGRAM means their killer.
Programs isnt Win's or loses . Its not who can beat who.
Program is Coaching staff, Players, dedication to getting better, Fan support, booster clubs, School spirit and about 100 other things there genius.
So in saying that. Yes, Texas has about 50 Programs that are equal to De La Salle, California program.
Learn what the term PROGRAM means there Mr. Football.

Once again TexasFrog,
Your opinion didn't get you kicked off the board. The first step you took was attacking members personally and then after repeatedly asked to tone it down you failed to do that. I would be more than happy to let you back on the board if you would simply not make your posts personal. But I am not in the position to do that right now unless you can send me and my moderators an apology. And for the record I don't call people names. You caught me at a point where you had pushed me to the limit by not obey several requests to stop making your posts personal. So don't give me the crap that you were kicked off because of your opinion. Frankly, I do agree with you about the competition in Texas.

First, you say that I attacked poster'S. I dont know about poster'S. But, I do strongly disagree with ONE poster on your site. Again.. "ONE."
His the same dude that for "YEARS" has torn apart Texas football and tried to discredit it one way or another. And you just bow down to the dude. That's what kills me the most about your web-site.
I've been reading that from him for YEARs. Listen YEARS and its the same ole everytime. "Texas has the best 'AVERAGE' teams but its top teams arent very good." They dont this or they dont that compared to the top California teams. The top California teams are so much more well oiled than the Texas top teams blah blah blah blah..
I use to debate with that clown on Foxsports message board in the late 90's. To him DLS was a Superbowl caliber team. It was the same. Texas has very good "average teams" but its top teams arent that good compared to California. DLS is the greatest.
He still says that if DLS played in Texas they would have like 12 State titles and maybe every now and than someone in Texas could play with them and upset them in the State Championship. You know and I know thats a complete 100% JOKE.
Years ago it was Texas couldnt pass the ball and their offense sucked. Now its Texas teams dont play DEFENSE. "WOW." And You just bow down to him.
I mean the gaul of that dude to claim the Texas elite teams dont play DEFENSE.
Like I told you.. its more that the Texas offensive's are very well oiled machines than the Texas defensives arent good. Heck, SLC would of put 17 pts on many of lower tier D-1A programs in College this past season.
Anyone out there reading this disagree with me that SLC couldnt put 17 pts on lets say-- Kent St, Idaho, SMU, Army, Temple just to name a few ? Than again, I think about 10 other Texas programs could put 17 pts on many of the lower D-1A programs.
The Top level Texas teams are to well coached, have top line athletes that grow up playing together since 7th grade. Now you throw in all the summer programs and 7 on 7 tournaments and that just makes those offensives that much better.
Hey,,I'm all about having the 1st Amend and free speech buddy. So, if someone is going to try to discredit Texas football on a dang WEBSITE called TxHsfootball .. Than I'm going to debate with them and give them FACTS.
It kills that clown that a (8-4) Texas (4A) Wylie destroyed his California team (8-4) San Diego Mira Mesa, that would be a Texas (5A) by enrollment numbers. So, I see that he now tries to claim that San Diego Mira Mesa wasnt really a good California team but I guess Wylie is a super Texas power.
Now his throwing "excuses" about Clovis East and how they arent really a good California team. This is the same Clovis East team that was a "blink" from beating California power Long beach Poly two years in a row.
Also, you say I was warned ?? I dont think so buddy. In fact I got about 4 personal e-mails from other Texas people on that web-site , while I was debating with that clown telling me that I was totally right. I dont ever remember getting a warning from anyone from the TxHsfootball staff.
Last....if you say I was attacking him and I got kicked off. Than I'm sure you kicked him off also right ? Because I would say that he was attacking me 10 times more than I was attacking him.
By the way.. since that "CLOWN" wants to say that Texas elite teams dont play defense. Here is some FACTS that I would like you to ask him.
All California playoff games:
#1 Mission Viejo = 50
Hart = 20 great defense by Hart
#1 Mission Viejo = 48
Upland = 21 great defense by Upland
#1 Mission Viejo = 49
Valencia = 21 great defense by Valencia
#2 LB Poly = 27
St. Johns = 6 great defense
#2 LB POLY = 39
Esperanza = 15 great defense
#2 LP POLY = 21
Los Alamitos = 6 great defense
#3 DLS = 35
Monte Vista = 7 great defense
#3 DLS = 31
Pittsburg = 6 great defense
#3 DLS = 41
Amador Valley = 0 do I need to say anything ?
But, you I both know how that clown would answer this right...? Mission Viejo, LB Poly and DLS are just super power teams. I mean for sure those 3 California teams would do the same thing to SLC, Lufkin, Longview, Spring Westfield, Tyler Lee, Midland Lee, Abilene and about 7 other Texas powers.
Listen man.. You have a nice web-site and its obvious that ya'll have done a great job on it. You promote Texas football and thats the number 1 issue to me. I see that you are trying to put a more National flavor in it and adding the Louisiana connection and ect. That's great. But, the site is still 90% about Texas football and 90% of the people on the site are Texas High school fans.
I love Texas High school football alot. I grew up with it and have several family members that Coach in Texas on the 5A level and several other buddies that Coach at other Texas 5A and 4A schools. I played myself on those Texas Friday nights. I wont tolerate anyone that has misguided facts about Texas football like that clown from California. His sole mission just like its been for about 6 years now is to discredit Texas football "one way or another." Bad offensives and now its Bad defensives. I love it man.
But hey TxHsFootball.. if you think I'm a "Moron" and I deserved to be kicked off your web-site and that "CLOWN" that discredits Texas football deserves to be on it. Well, than I guess that's the way it is buddy.
I dont really have anything against you. I just dont think you truley read the post from both angles.

I still have my opinion that I strongly believe. I've lived in California, Florida and Virginia and grew up in Texas until I was 20. I've traveled the nation and seen alot of High school football from around the nation. I believe from what I've seen:
Texas Top #15
Cali Top #5
La top #3
Okla top #2
Ala top #1
Ga top #2
Fla top #4
Ark top #2
Miss Top #1
Ohio Top #4
Missouri top #3
there is a few others out there from year to year.
are all about equal. You put those teams on neutral fields with equal travel time and practice time. You would get some bonified tough games. I do however "STRONGLY" believe that Texas has about 10 more elite teams than its closest rivals. I'm talking "elite national caliber teams" than any other State.
I also believe that Texas does have stronger depth with quality teams than other States. In Texas #25 can sneak up and bite #1 in the butt on almost any Friday Night.
Texas is the only power football State (Tx, Cal, Ohio, Fla) in America where team #25 can fight #1 close on almost any Friday night.
Any other State #1 destroys #25 to scores like 45-7. I've seen it 100's times.. Not in Texas. This shows the quality of competition in Texas from Friday Night to Friday night much less the Texas Playoffs.
Look how many Texas teams make the Texas 5A quarterfinals and semi-finals with records of (11-3) or even (12-2). Its called strong competition.
Plus, Texas top #15 or so teams from year to year can and well play with anyone in the nation giving things are equal. ( Travel and Neutral field).

Yeah, i mean football can be over in a second even if you are the best player, on second you can be running 15yards for a touchdown or making an a pancake block the next second you could be looking up into the stadium lights having to relize that its over
