Harlingen 34 Reagan 17= Harlingen is a VERY GOOD team with a TON of speed and experience, they play tough D and have a VERY balanced Offense that could LIKELY play with SOME of the states better teams QB,WRs and RBs are their strengths along with an experienced Defense and O Line
O'Connor 45 McAllen High 6= McHi is a bit of a pushover that in many RioGrandeVally fans eyes should not have even been considered for the Classic, but oh well, we will be there to cheer them on none the less....too bad they aint got a prayer

Hmm....I don't think SA Macarthur will be able to beat Clark. Everything else seems pretty good.
I think Mac will beat Clark hands down. Mac has some good players coming back and played well against some pretty darn good teams last year. Sorry, but Clark was all Wilkerson last year. This year they will struggle without him.
Also Smithson Valley will beat RR Westwood 28-0. ;)

its not that, i am not from Harlingen or McAllen, i just think that Harlingen is the better team, i realize the type of competition Reagan faces year in and year out in 26-5A which is IMO the toughest district in the state, BUT i will be the first to point out, Harlingen is one of the few RGV teams that IS capable of playing with some of the better higher profile programs.... Harlingen has the athletes to play with the best of them and coaching as well, Harlingen has one of the best traditions in the RGV, certainly the best in RGV 5A football, they have played with the likes of Austin Weslake, Judson several times and even gave NewBraunsfels a run for their money in 97' losing 17-19 to Kliff Kingsburry and company, YES, they did lose all of those games, but they were able to hang in there on most occasions, i believe only Weslake and Judson were able to blow them out, but still thats only 2 teams and 2 games out of SEVERAL, i remember Harlingen gave Judson all they wanted in 94'.......Reagan is NO Judson and this will be one of the better Harlingen teams EVER, ex all district WR turned QB Robert Sanchez 6' 185 4.5, all district WR/K/P Johnny Guillen 5'9 170 4.5 and RB Justin Hernandez 5'11 170 4.4 (avg. 10yrds per carry) are all back, along with about 8 starters from a pretty decent D.....like i said, i have nothing against Reagan, i just think Harlingen will win...

I understand where your comming from but most of the dates you listed were in the 90's.....and I hope to god that the players in the 90's still aren't playing but I dunno, I'm 50-50 with Reagan's team this year, I honestly don't know what to expect.
For Macarthur, i dunno, they may be returning a few people but they're also replacing a few key players....such as QB. It'll be intersting to see what happens. But I think Clark will take Mac.

these are my picks
Churchill will beat Marshall- i really wanna see this game, i wanna see how good this Fanuzzi kid really is
Roosevelt will EASILY beat East Central
Madison will beat San Marcos
Clark is gonna take MacArthur
Warren and Alamo Heights is gonna be a good game, but in the end Warrens' D wins it
Judson vs Nixon, this is a game that i would love to see Nixon win, but I KNOW THEY DONT HAVE A PRAYER
Harlingen will more than likely beat Reagan
O'Connor is gonna CRUSH McAllen
Reaganrattler07
08-05-2005, 11:38 PM
I'd rather see Lee beat Judson, lol. Yeah, Clark's gonna take Mac. Mac doesn't impress me as much as it did when i was in elementary...my older sister went there and i watched all the mac games as a kid course that was when they were good. Harlingen-Reagan game should be good, I can't wait for it....three painstaking more weeks.

Lets see ure really close to all stadiums NE/NS/Judson all about 20 mins to 30 mins away depending traffic so if u have no ties to any real team in Sa go to the games of the week...
I would go to Judson Vs. SMithson Valley if u can get tickets its a judson Stadium. .... acctually id just watch 26-5a that will give u most of the best games :)

SA breaks down easily since you have three 5A districts and a couple big school districts that play in the same stadium.
26-5A is the best district in the state. You see great teams, good games, and decent teams who just can't beat the great teams. Sometimes, you get upsets because the bad teams still have talent.
To get to Smithson Valley, take 1604 back around to the northeast side, get on 281 north, and turn right on 46. You'll see the stadium pretty soon after that.
Northeast ISD (Madison, Roosevelt, Lee, Reagan, MacArthur, and Churchill) all play at Comalander. It's at the corner of Jones Maltsberger and the segway between Bitters and Wurzbach Parkway. Either take 281 South from 1604, get off at the Bitters exit, turn left under 281 and stay until you get to the stadium or get on 410 East and take the Jones Maltsberger exit.
Everybody should want to see a game at Judson! You can take 1604 to the Northeast side of town until you get to Converse and turn right on Rocket Lane where the sign says school stadium and you can't miss it because Randolph AFB will be on the left side. If you take I-10 back to Houston, you can get off on 1516 to Converse and drive right by the stadium. If you take I-35 north, get off on 78 at the Kirby exit and stay on it until you get to Converse. The O'Connor, Judson, and Toepperwein road exits off of I-35 all make you get on 78 to get to the stadium.
25-5A isn't great, but you might want to watch Clemens play at home. Schertz is on the other side of Randolph AFB and Converse. Take 1604 until you get to the Randolph AFB/Converse exit for 78. Go towards Randolph and keep driving until you get to Schertz. You'll turn left toward Clemens high school.
27-5A has some good teams. They are the Northside ISD (Clark, O'Connor, Taft, Jay, Holmes, Marshall, Warren) and play in 2 stadiums. Farris is close to UTSA and is on 1604 going south towards Sea World. You'll pass the stadium on the left and take the next exit, go under 1604 and come back north into the stadium. They also play just past Ingram Park Mall on the left off of 410 south of UTSA.
The crappy schools in town play at Alamo Stadium, but it's old and historic and on 281 north of downtown. The big playoff games and some regular season games are at the Alamodome, which is on I-37 just east of downtown.
Alamo Heights and the New Braunfels schools play in a good 4A district. AH is off of Broadway going south from 410.
3A is nothing in town and 2A isn't great. The Randolph-Cole game is good because it's Army vs. Air Force. Cole is on Ft. Sam Houston just off of I-35 and the Randolph stadium is right next to 1604.
The Clark-Churchill game is the Gucci Bowl and always a good game. Smithson Valley-Judson at Judson is the best game all year. Go see Randolph-Cole in 2A. Central Catholic and Holy Cross really hate each other (Holy Bowl) and usually play at the Alamodome. They also have the Chili Bowl and Frontier Bowl in 4A. They are Lanier-Fox Tech and Harlandale-McCollum. Go see Judson-Clemens in the playoffs! All the games I listed were rivalry games except Judson-SV and that's the best example of a tough 26-5A game. Judson is more juiced for Madison and Roosevelt than some of the other teams in district.
I'll include the Stadium Finder link to all the stadiums. The paper each week says what stadium and times the games will be played in/on.

bhs06 is ignorant to what Judson schedule's year in and year out. All 3 of Judson's non-district opponents went to playoffs last season. 2 of the 3, Pfulgerville & Copperas Cove, are currently ranked in the preseason top 25.
I don't believe very many 5A schools will play 3 of their 1st five games against teams ranked in the top 25 (Smithson Vallley being the 3rd). Will your school play that tough of a schedule in just the 1st five games? Not sure what school that you support (if you do), but, bhs06, please know what you are talking about before you spout off idiotic ramble.

bhs 06, I can't even comment about Judson not playing anyone in pre season. That is just the dumbest comment anyone has ever written on this web-site. You must be new or have fallen on your head, but for now I am sure you are just joking. I am not a huge fan of the Rockets but I do know that no body in the city of S.A, will play them in pre-season so they always have to look at Waco, Bryan, Temple, CC, Austin Westlake, Spring Westfield to play them. I guess in a nut shell all of those team suck in your book. IN the future be serious as most folks are well educated on their high school football topics on this web-site, but after reading your comment I would bet they are all laughing at you .

Copperas Cove 10-2 and 7-0 in district, and beat by Cedar Park in Round 2.
Pflugerville 8-4 and 6-1 in district, and beat by Lufkin in Round 2.
Laredo Nixon 10-3 and 7-0 in district, and beat by SA Taft in Round 3.
That was last year's results for the 3 non-district teams. Nixon is always a consensus district champion and favorite and gets to Round 3 before being eliminated by SA almost every year. Pflugerville was as high as #2 going into last year. Cove beat expectations, but had a lot of talent. Judson played 2 undefeated district champs and another team that tied for the district title.
Judson has a hard time getting SA teams to play them and the previous 2 years we played Waco, Bryan, and Spring Westfield. Those teams had talent and were well regarded too.
There aren't a lot of teams that have all their non-district opponents get to the playoffs. Judson's opponents all won games. Oh, yeah Madison won 1 playoff game and SV got to the title game, so 26-5A won 9 games. Clemens was an undefeated district champ, just like SA O'Connor and LaJoya. Westfield tied for their district. That's 5 outright champs and 2 co-champs in 13 games.

Should be some great games during Week Zero. I personally like Mac over Clark. While this game will not be one of the elite games that week it should be a very good game. Mac has made some changes with their play calling this year (actually started last year in the Madison game). The offensive Cord. will make the calls this year. Look for them to more wide open with their offensive play calling. They are bigger and faster then last year. Probably their best team in the last 6 or 7 years.
Reaganrattler07
08-06-2005, 11:00 PM
If you go back 6 or 7 years than that's around time they were going to State......I just don't think Mac can get it together for at least another few years.
Gridiron Gopher
08-06-2005, 11:04 PM
They won't be as good as the state team but they will be better. And yes you're right. It wasn't 6-7 years but it seems like that. :(
Reaganrattler07
08-06-2005, 11:11 PM

Very tough district but they have a shot to upset a few teams. Gave Clark, Boerne, Reagan and SV all they could handle last year. They just didn't seem to know how to finish games. The team will be better on both sides of the ball but still a very tough district.
Reaganrattler07
08-06-2005, 11:31 PM
I'm looking for Reagan to be a bit better (yes, this is a little bit of a biased opinion) but being realistic I think the new coach will have his style into the team by now. And it'll be interesting to see how Mac will be. I think third place in 26-5A is gonna be a toss-up. First and second will belong to Judson and SV.
Gridiron Gopher

I like Churchill to take the 3rd spot. A lot will depend on how the kid Finuzzi plays at QB.
Reaganrattler07
08-07-2005, 12:01 AM
Yeah, my predictions are Judson, Sv, and Churchill (may be replaced by the likes of Reagan, or even Roosevelt and maybe even Mac). I haven't really been impressed with Madison, so I don't look for them to be much good.
The reason why I pick Reagan to be better. 1. Talent, we've dominate (sometime in our history) in most sports. 2. We have a pretty good coach who will be going into his second year. 3. We have a pretty good fan base.
jrdaniel
08-07-2005, 01:25 AM
Watchout for Madison's offense. They have 2 playmakers in the backfield and historically they do well in those situations. However, they have lost coaches and never have been the type to win on defense.
lonny23
08-07-2005, 02:16 AM
Ranking-wise, SV (3rd) at Judson (9th) is the best game in the state all year until the playoffs start. Judson at Copperas Cove (8th) is the only other Top 10 matchup all year. The Rockets also tangle with 21 (Pflugerville) in Converse and are almost guaranteed to play 22 (Schertz Clemens) at the Alamodome.
Madison lost the O Coordinator to Judson, but they have talent and speed on offense. Mac and Reagan still won't get 3rd. That goes to Madison or Churchill.

I'll be at Judson-SV. I'm going to Judson-Cove, too. The time I'll be in town in between those games is Judson's bye week, so I don't know what I'll do that week, Sep 16-17.
