I was just wondering how many of you go to other teams games aside form your own?
I know that I frequent a lot of katy games now that I am back in houston...my parents graduated from there, I lived there for a time as a child, so it kinda seems like the next best thing.....I mean I am a die hard CC fan, but when I can't make the trip I like to see the tigers play....
anybody else guilty of watching the enemy:rolleyes:

I try and catch the best game in the area each week, and can sometimes travel to the other parts of the state for a game. Last year I watched games in the Houston area, Midland, Waco and DFW. This year, I hope to do more of the same and try to see games outside of the area a little more often. I'd like to plan to go see a 26-5A game this season among others during the reg. season. I also want to catch a game in Lufkin.

I try to catch the best match up in the metroplex unless one the 3-5A teams are in the area.

When I can, I will go catch a Thursday game, if its a worthy match up, or if my team plays on a Sat., I would catch a good match up that Friday.
Last year I saw, SGP/Irv. Mac and ET/ Irv Mac. These were 2 of the best regular season games that I saw!!
I also made a point to go see Sergio Kindle(Dallas Woodrow Wilson vs Dallas Lincoln).

If there is a big game in the valley, and the Cardinals aren't playing, I will try to make it. When I lived in Abilene I went to a lot of games--- Abilene High, Cooper, Wylie, and 2a Stamford.
As an aside, jump at the chance if you get invited to a 2a or A class ball game. Coming from a 5a background, I really used to look down my nose at the little guys, but I will tell you what--- small town HS football is one of the cleanest, most enjoyable nights of fun you can find.

I usually catch around 5-6 Lewisville games a year but will venture into other parts as well. Last year I was limited in the games I could attend but plan on catching at least 2 games a week this year. I dont have a problem going into the enemies home to watch a game as I am a big fan of great football and want to make sure I get the most out of my dollar.

While I am a diehard Carroll fan, there are quite a few of us who frequently watch other teams as well, when the Dragons are not playing. Will try to pick some of the more interesting match-ups and off we go. This is most often during the playoffs, but can also happen with Thursday night games during the regular season, leaving Friday nights available.

Last year, I attended the Austin Westlake v. Round Rock Westwood game (Round Rock ISD Stadium) and the Copperas Cove v. Lufkin playoff game (Floyd Casey).

I am a North Shore Guy. Other teams that I will go out of my way to or have seem in the past have been:
1. Woodlands v. Lufkin - alway a great atmosphere. Alot of intensity in this rivalry.
2. Katy vs any other rank team. Katy always comes to play and the other team knows it. See them againt A&M Consolidated and Humble in the playoffs.
3. Galena Park - Well , this may not qualify as a wandering out my backyard as they play in the same stadium as N.S. But I do see them when N.S isn't playing.
I would like to get a taste of Valley ball, and plan on going to see game there this year. Also, if I get a chance I want to see Judson (their crowd is seriously into games - I saw them in the playoffs in the Astrodome a couple of years ago against Westfield and They are into it - great fans). And last but not least if I get a chance I would like to go to a Southlake Carroll home game - why - well just because.

This year the Dragons play Keller on a Thursday night. This will allow me to go to the Colleyville Heritage--Northwest game at Northwest's beautiful stadium.

It's fun to watch GP play. They do so well against the H-town teams, but when they start playing in their own district they get their butts whooped.
That and I think its poetic justice to watch them have to drive over to their own staidum. After all the years of going to NS games and having to drive to Dement.

Lets see I went to 48 games last season...including College and HS...and only 11 Longview games and 4 SMU games. So 15 for my own team and 33 for other teams. LOL.
Most the time I go to the Marshall games or Gilmer games when Longview is off. I would never go to a Spring Hill/Pine Tree game even if that was the only game on that night.

I'll catch the occasional big district game that doesn't include the Owls, or includes a team or two that the Owls will play soon that "concerns" us a bit. I don't much get out of the district until the playoffs. Once the playoffs begin, I get the paper on Tuesday or Wednesday and start checking off games around 50 miles or so away that interest me. Then, by process of elimination and my work schedule that weekend, I decide which games I will watch and on what days or nights. I really like to catch 1A, 2A, or 3A games, especially from round 2 of the playoffs on. I really like lower classification ball. The fans are just the greatest. It's relly neat to get the wife and load up on a Friday evening during the regular season and drive to, say Honey Grove or Farmersville or Celina and watch a game in their home stadium. One of the best nights at a HS football game I ever had was at a regular season game between Celina and Pilot Point in Celina, and Celina and Farmersville in Farmersville. I also try to catch a 6-man game each year, but it's tough since it's about 100 miles to any 6-man game from Garland. I have to get lucky and have a playoff game in Glen Rose, or something like that, and have my schedule match up, so I can get to one. 6-Man is a whole different critter.

I try to catch some of the smaller schools in action. Teams from Alto, Cushing, Groveton, Huntington, and Garrrison have been my entertainment. Last year I saw all them play, however since I moved to Whitehouse this year I will see Troup, and Arp at least. That is all besides going to Lufkins games every time I can. Will definitely be at the Woodlands game!

Yeah, I'm all for seeing other teams play. I did a thread last year in August about all the games I was going to and it was going to be like 2-3 games per week during the regular season and then I deployed and missed the whole year.

I caught 3 games in 1 weekend several times last year. Plan on doing the same this year. Mercer stadium and Hall is where I catch the 235a games. I will go anywhere to watch and Support Katy(usually Crump or Rhodes). This year I plan on seeing several 175a games and visiting not only the new Berry center, but also Crusader stadium. I am also fortunate to be close to Rosenberg Terry and Lamar Con. so I can even check on Seven Lakes.
Last year I did go out of my way during the regular season to catch Westfield at Humble. I usually won't venture across town during the regular season with so much action close to me, unless the game is critical, like that one was.(district title).
During the playoffs I will travel anywhere. Even for a good 4a game, as long as it doesn't take me away from the Katy Tigers. I did miss one hell of a 4a game at Rhodes, but I was busy watching Lufkin handle their bus. against Cove. in Waco.

I don't follow any certain team.
Living in the metroplex, I usually will go see a Thursday night 5A game locally. Many of the suburban school districts here have too many schools for everyone to play on Fridays and they have elected to play additional games on Thursday rather than Saturday.
On Fridays I like to get a room out of town and see some good lower classification ball, usually 2A, 3A, or 4A.
Then on Saturday morning I make my way down to San Antonio or Houston where I can see some good 5A games. If I'm lucky, there will be an afternoon game as well as a night game worth seeing.
I will only go to games between 2 "competitive" teams because I hate to see one-sided or sloppy games. I generally will not go to any game that includes a team that has no chance of making the playoffs. My average for many years now has been about 3.5 games per week over the length of the season. The most games I ever saw in a weekend was 7. That occurred several years ago on a Thanksgiving week. They were all at Texas Stadium with 2 on Thursday night, 2 on Friday night, and 3 on Saturday.

I am a student minister, and I have kids at 8 different high schools. When I'm not watching the Owls, I will usually go to one of their games (Thursday and Saturday games are great for that purpose). Once the playoffs start, I'll obviously follow the Owls, then other Garland schools, but when (and if) they get eliminated, I'm all over the place. Last year, I caught GHS vs. Cove in Waco, drove home, slept for a couple of hours, then drove out to Nac in a monsoon to check out SG and Lufkin. The following week, I checked out Celina, then planted myself at Texas Stadium all day Saturday. I also like to see playoff games in Garland or Mesquite between two teams I know very little about.

Last year I went to Ratiff and Grande to watch Lee and Permian. But the main travel I did was to six-man contests. My cousin played for the Happy High Cowboys and were not expected to finish higher than 4th. They finished 2nd and made the playoffs. :D
(they lost in the first round to Wheeler 99-56...yep, that is NOT a typo). :(
Went to Happy, Silverton, Turkey Valley, Groom, New Home and Kress. Caught the six-man championship game at Shotwell in Abilene.
One thing that six-man football has 5A football beat is the concession stands. Many of the six-man games have barbecue, homemade burgers, pizza (at Silverton) bratwurst wrapped in a tortilla--at a reasonable price.
It's all good.

I venture out to see other teams during the playoffs. In the past you could go to the ADome and watch 2 or 3 playoff games in one day. In 2003 me and some other Katy fanatics took off for San Antone to catch Schertz Clemens vs (O'Conner?). With 2 mins left in the game we took off back to Houston to watch Katy at the ADome.
This year because of band duties I'm gonna miss some Katy games.:(

I live in SA now and I don't always get to go back home to Victoria to catch games.....but I try my best. My nephew is the QB this season so I'll try to be at EVERY game possible.
Lucky for me the Vipers have FIVE games in San Antonio this year! :D 3 district games are in SA and 3 district games are in Victoria! WORKS FOR ME!
But when I'm not watching the Vipers you can catch me at Comalander (26-5A) or Dub Farris Stadium (Northside ISD). I'll be at the BEST game that week. I've been to Judson and I'll even drive to San Marcos during the playoffs if a good game is being played there. I was at SM and Smithson Valley last year.
I'll stick to the SA area if I can't watch the Vipers.
