Monopoly....I almost never lose.
I prefer Trivial Pursuit, but I never lose at that........any of the versions......so none of my friends or family will play me anymore. Sore losers. :D :D
Oh yeah, Stratego and Chess too.

Diplomacy by far.
It's essentially Risk, but without all that "rolling the dice" nonsense. It's pure strategy.

Around the house, chess is the game of choice right now. It's hard to get the kids off of Xbox and PS2. We might throw in a Battleship every once in a while.

Risk would have to be my alltime favorite.
Trivial Persuit has been banned during family functions because of fighting over mis-worded answers.

Good ole Risk, I never lost a game, but I have not played in 10 years.

I liked playing monopoly and sorry. Those games rocked. I remember getting the Jumanji board game. I don't have it anymore though.

so far, all that have been named. But I like the word games that don't use boards, like Catch Phrase. I also like, any drawing or charade games. There is a good board game of quarters too that gets kind of wild but I don't recommend it to just anyone. It takes skill. LOL :D

Quarters...now...what exactly does that involve? I hear things that this is one of those games that can alter a person behavior. Are those just rumors? :p :p
By the way...congrats Miss Kitty, Hall of Famer! :D

Wow, haven't played that last one in eons:)
I love the other ones you mentioned too. I love word games and, this one isn't word or board game, but I just love Jeopardy!! Some day I will get on that darn show! Maybe I'll get on and there will be a category called "Texas HS Football"!!

Thank you and yes I enjoy(ed) it. LOL I felt it was my responsibility to prepare my daughter with the necessary skills to fend off any evil plots to have her succumb to the losses of the competition. So much like you have "THE TALK" with your children to prepare them for the challenges of life, I had "The Quarters Talk" with my daughter to prepare her for college life. Not encouraging her to play, just teaching her how not to lose. :D

Yes it can alter behavior if you lose. But if you win, no harm done, to you that is.:)

Mom, you would rock at Jeopardy. I get excited when I can answer one question. Now if it were sports or rock-n-roll/Country Jeopardy I would do okay. :)

There was a board game put out several decades ago that tried to reproduce the Civil War. As I recall, it carried the American Heritage brand name, but I am not sure who actually manufactured and sold it. Had all sorts of rules for bring different troops into line of battle, artillery, cav, infantry, etc, as well as what counted for what strength. Took awhile to get used to the rules, but it was really fun. Games could go on for days or even weeks at a time, depending upon how good you were.
