Brian Simmons, a RS Freshman who was projected as the starting RG, hurt his knee lifting weights and even though Stoops has not released the severity of the injury or time table for a potential return, some have speculated that he will not play this year. Simmons is a testament to just how bad Stoops needs linemen. Simmons is an undersized guard who was recruited as and played DT last year, but the desperate need for O-line help necessitated his move to the O-line.
This injury news comes right as Stoops granted a release to Chad Roark, another offensive linemen, who was competing for the center position. This is on top of all the other offensive linemen the dirt burglars have lost for reasons other than graduation or the NFL (seven since 2004).
If they don't watch it, Bomar is going to have to snap the ball to himself.
