There are some programs that consistantly have losing seasons.
In the SA area, it is Lee.
Why do some programs never turn it around and start winning?
Coaching?
Talent pool?
Lack of fan support?
What is yalls take on this topic and what are some consistantly bad teams in your neck of the woods?

Not 5A but around Lufkin two of the worst programs are 4A Nacogdoches and 3A Huntington. Huntington is probably one of the worst programs in the state. I dont know about the community support but they are lacking in talent and coaching. I believe after 20 years this last offseason was the first time they have had an "offseason" program. Nacogdoches has some talent but lacks coaching and community support.

SA Lee could probably make the playoffs in any South Side SA district....they are just in a tough district.

CC Miller did well a few seasons back...but thats about it for them. Their glory days from the 50's and 60's are gone :(

Coach Welch came in to Cove and did a great job with it in '94....turned it completely around and were in good shape right now...

one year in high school.... our football team lost like 9 straight games......and the last game was against a school rival that won like 3 gamees that year.... and we won and everyone was sooo happy....lol....
many school districts dont put a lot of money into football programs....and they will probably never improve the football team.....

Our 9th grade football team went 0-11 and scored only 6 points the entire season...we crossed the 50 twice. Remember that Pack0808?
The next year they went 10-0 and unscored on....WTF?

I dont really think of John Tyler as a losing program, but they have definatly fallen on some hard times. I think with the new coach that they could be a force in the playoffs again real soon.

I think a new coach to shake things up a bit can get things started. Then of course, community support to motivate the player. But coaches can completely turn a program around by installing a system and a great offseason program, and also to get kids motivated to play football (i.e. spring westfield).

I have not kept up with SA Lee much lately, but I remember several years ago they finished dead last in 26-5A, but two of their three wins (which were in predistrict) were against the 27-5A and 28-5A district champions. If I remember correctly this was in 1997 against SA Southwest; I dont remember which 27-5A they had defeated either, but I want to say it was SA Jay.
Everyone knocks on Lee but they are just in a bad district.

Please do not use examples from 8 years ago.

LOL ...
anyways, I actually intentially used an example from 8 years ago to show everyone how long Lee has actually had a good team but hasn't been able to get out of its tough district. There always good, but in a district where 'good' is never good enough.

Lee just has too tough of a district to play in. I can't say it's the fan support since some of the other 26-5A teams who play better don't get enough fans, either.

Well I don't think that the fans wanna come to every game and see their team get blown out each and everytime.....although they have given a few teams a good run for their money.

In 2002, I was at the Clemens vs Lee game, at Clemens.
Clemens has about 8,000 there on the home side and Lee had no more than 100, not including band, drill, etc.
It was sad.

Everyone knows why Cujo went from a state power to a losing program and Lee went from an average program to a state champion and consistent Top 10 program!

Tell me this, Headliner. How did Clemens have 8,000 when the stadium seats 6,000 on both sides?
Why would 6,000 show up for a Lee game when Clemens played Holmes in 2003 and had like 400-600 for both teams? At least that's what the paper said attended the game.

We all know Clemens is a handbox.
Just trying to make a point of the large fan difference.
I have never been to a Clemens game when it was not packed on the Clemens side, wheter it was at Clemens or not.
I can promise you that Clemens has never had a game when less than a few thousand show up, at least not any that I have been to in the past 5 years.

At that Clemens vs. Lee game I spoke of, it was the one when Booker's dad ran on to the field.
The Clemens side was I would say at 80% capacity and Lee honestly did have no more than 100 fans.

Why?
In Tyler you can attend the high school of your choice regardless of attendance zones. I usually just post about it to get a little rise from our friends in Tyler. Lee fans say it is not a factor but the outgoing JT coach thought it was enough of a problem to complain about the policy on a television interview last year. He may have been just trying to make an excuse for his poor record.

When they finally drop down to 4A! :p Either that or they get tired of playing the best 5A team ever. :D
