They are just ridiculous!!!! How is is that SV always is going to state?? I am a believer in Reagan athletics and hope that Reagan beats SV this year but I am very impressed with SV's football team year in and year out. Can anybody tell me about their offense especially their star reciever Cody Beyer!!!!! Whoooop..... and how is the Hill kid doing at QB????
How do they do it??? The formula would be nice......

SV will be solid as usual. That Beyer guy will be good, fast. The kid I'm looking for to step it up for them is Clay Fuller. He didnt get as much attention then beyer did because he was hurt for siz weeks with a colar bone break, hes kind of flown under the radar, but I've heard he is asgood, or better, then beyer. Oh, and I haven't heard anything good or bad about the Hill kid, I hope he has a strong arm to get it out those WRs.

Bryan Hill definitely has a strong arm, it's his speed (or lack of it) that is the concern. SV has always thrived when it had a quick athlete at QB. Bryan (like his brother Alan) is better suited as a pocket passer than a roll out QB. That's not to say he won't be successful on the roll out plays, just not as good as guys like Bailey, Woodchick, etc. What he DOES have going for him is his accuracy and football IQ; being a coach's kid he knows the playbook backwards and forwards and Coach Hill will probably let Bryan audible plays more than other QBs in the past. He also did this with Alan.
As for how SV does it year after year... I think it comes down to the coaching staff and the organization they have. IF you've ever seen a Ranger practice, you'll notice there is NO wasted time, and they prepare their kids for EVERYTHING they could possibly see from an opponent. I truly feel SV comes into games better prepared than 99% of the state of Texas because of the attention to detail that Coach Hill and his staff emphasize.

Yeah, Hall of Fame coaches normally suck a lot, don't they? And of course your cowgirls are so much better to brag about as they couldn't manage to get a better record than us and signed a quarterback that doesn't have much gas left. Oh, and I'm not from Washington and yeah, it does have a little bit of a crime problem - born and raised in San Antonio. And 88 is the year i was born.

5, of course i knew that. But all that amounts to nothing in the present....it obviously didn't help the cowgirls this year. And 3 didn't help us('Skins) either. But our Hall-of-Fame coach who won his first in his second year, is gonna help us out this year (05-06), as well as his staff (Joe Bugel, Gregg Williams, etc.). We'll see how both teams do this year. Both should be better.
And I have nothing against you personally either....just so u know.

Good point, Fuller is great at WR. That also contributed to the Judson loss. It was that game. The kids were worried because he was such a huge part of the new semi-spread offense. Once the jitter of him not being there wore off, and they learned the new system, it was all good. Going to be better this year. Hill has a GREAT arm, GREAT accuracy, GREAT smarts (duh) but not so great speed. The WR's however do not need much time to get open, so he should do fine.

Saved me a bunch of typing time. Like you said, not any free time during practice, warmups, or the game. Everying they do is timed down to the second. A full one page breakdown list just from stepping on the bus, to kickoff. I think little Hill is going to be a little better than Alan, so it should work out fine.

O'Connor isnt supposed to be THAT good this season, Harlingen is...... Harlingen is the only RGV 5A team to EVER play the SA teams hard, so i know why they were selected.....a couple of seasons ago another RGV team was picked to play against a Lubbock team, the Lubbock team even played StateChamp SLC tough that season, but the RGV team BEAT UP on them in the Dome....everyone thinks we're so weak, and to an extent, WE ARE, but EVERY DOG has his day...

I don't think a 10-9 Donna win over Monterey is beating them up.
Dave has to change his formula. He changes teams up every year instead of taking the best teams and really making it an event. I want to see Judson play Katy or SLC. Judson played Westlake in 1999 and has never come back.

when your an underdog and go in and win...it says something, i think Donna was ranked in state that season, but yet they were still picked to lose in the Classic because of such little big game experiance, i think Lubbock had been 7-5 the year prior and had won their last 6 games...for an RGV team to come out with a W, was big, especially in their 1 and only appearance in the Classic, i think O'Connor v. McHi this season is a poor matchup, i think McHi is gonna GET BLOWN OUT!!!! but Reagan is playing a VERY good team, they have lots and lots of speed, which is kinda rare here in the RGV.....so when i say "beat up" i mean they won, im sure that Lubbock felt like CRAP losing to a lowly SouthTexas team....no matter how high they were ranked....by the way, Donna lost that season in the 1st rd of the playoffs to CorpusChristi Carrol 7-6, i bet even thought they only lost by a pt, they felt like they had been BEAT DOWN!!!
RGVBadBoy
07-30-2005, 03:39 AM
as far as Matchups, i would love to see Katy vs. SmithsonValley, Harlingen vs. O'Connor, Judson vs. Lufkin, SLC vs. Longview, my school, Sharyland vs. SA Madison, LaMarque vs. Ennis...games like that would be fun to watch....... teams from the RGV like, Harlingen, SanBenito, Sharland, Edcouch Elsa, and LaJoya are good teams, im not gonna say that they can contend with the States best, BECAUSE THEY CANT, but to see them against Middle of the Road teams, is a great opportunity....

I went to a Harlandale-Corpus Christi Flower Bluff playoff game in the Alamodome last year and told the guy next to me that it's real hard to root for a team dressed like the Redskins (Harlandale). I was happy for the boys when they won. CC had better talent, but bad coaching.
You should've heard how Yates was trying to butter up Harlandale to come play in Houston 2 weeks later. Their manner made their playoff loss more appealing. I just don't like hearing somebody blowing smoke like they're doing you a favor. It was like, "We've got it all set up. We'll play at the Astrodome at 4 on Saturday. We've got you a hotel reserved on Kirby and will pay part of your expenses to come to Houston." The Harlandale coaches said we'll gladly flip for Houston or San Antonio. All the Yates contingent had to say is we want to play in Houston or pick some place like Victoria, but they acted like they were doing Harlandale a favor.

Well, I've only seen the helmets Harlandale use and they're exact replicas of the ones the 'Skins use....isn't there a copyright law against that? But I've seen loads of schools use NFL logos on their helmets....can they not come up with their own?
But I don't think Harlandale's full uniform is exact to the Skins, is it?

I would say that some of SV success is due to them spending a good amount of time at Judson learning there system. I also think that La Marque also spent time at Judson learning the system and look at how many titles that they have won. They also have the best coach in the that area so it helps a great deal.

Harlingen always plays SA area teams tough?? Judson alway enjoyed their games with Harlingen & other RGV teams--nothing like a warm-up slaughter before the next round in playoffs for Judson.
As for Reagan, they should be further along in victories. Personally, their first coach did take care of business. The new coach has his program intact and should do better. I keep looking for Reagan to be like the Churchill of old and current SV. It's time for the Raiders to take their place among the 265A elite. BTW, it will begin in their 1st game.
Reaganrattler07

...it's Rattlers, actually.
But just because you don't have two powerhouse schools playing doesn't mean it's not gonna be a good game. Because two evenly matched teams are gonna produce a "good" game as well. It may not be as high stakes as they are not powerhouse schools but just because they are not rated in the Top 25 in the State or so on, does not mean that they will not produce a good game to watch.
And yes, Reagan has already placed it's names in other sports.....Football's just waiting in line and I think the new coach will really help us out.

Thats about a half empty glass of water comment!I cant even believe you`d write something like that!? Two of the Three state final games, went down to the wire. That means either team could have won.And to lose in the semi final, really sucks more.At least you get that rush after the win in the semi, and the hype up to the title game.
Also, your now representing all the schools, & cities from your huge region, and the region you just beat. It`s not the AFC champions, (Buffalo)but in our case, region 4,and 3 champions. The best,or arguably the best (div1,&2 5A)in all of Houston,San Antonio,Austin,& that huge area all around these major cities.
In the NCAA Division 1A (football)your mostly a success if you win some bowl game.Did you guys feel like failures, when Katy took you down in 04?Would you have felt better if you lost in the semi?Whats up with SV????Lets see! From 1976 to 1990,never won a district title. As a matter of fact, one of the lossingness teams in the whole SA area during that time.Since coach Hill came,we`ve gone to heights never amagined. It`s truley a rags to riches story.
Sure we`d love to win a state championship, who would`nt?We`re finally on the right track now.Hopefully some winter day we can celebrate a state crown, hopefully, sooner than later.Dan Marino made it to the superbowl his rookie season, but never got back to the world championship ever again.Whats up with Dan Marino???? HEB Classic is the Texas Football Classic in the Alamodome; I think originally it was sponsored by HEB, but I dont know if it still is.

Ohhh ok, thanks....wasn't sure if anyone was gonna answer that.

SV is looking good in practice already. It looks like Blake Schrock (FB last year) will get the nod at TB over McKinney (2nd string last year) and soph sensation Rios. And like everyone figured, Bryan Hill will QB the team while Cody Beyer and Clay Fuller do most of the pass catching. They've got a couple of good pass catching TE's too. Defense looks just as solid as last year, as they've moved Kendall Volz from OLB to MLB to replace Pawelek and Mykal Kovar will be a great LB for them too.
Also, Andrew Sendejo (stud safety last year) is now the Top CB. This guy is fast AND agile. WR's will have a tough time against him. SV looks poised for another run at the title.

Clint Haney was the best running back we ever had but hurt himself at Texas and is no longer playing. I'm sure having that last would help Garrett Haney out. I'm also sure that he is somewhat fast like his brother.
