I don't really understand why they set up Pool D the way they did. It almost seems like the The Woodlands-Jersey Village game will be the only one that matters. Also, most of the teams will have alot of players out this weekend at all of the SQT's around the state. Alot of the upcoming seniors will be taking the SAT. This could be the weekend where a few underdogs come out of nowhere to qualify for the State Tournament in College Station.

Biggend-
You are absolutely correct. The winner of The Woodlands vs. Jersey Village game will advance out of Pool D. The pools were set up prior to last weekend's SQT's....... I don't think it's anything sinister....it just worked out that way.

Terry may have been good last weekend, but they will have to beat out two VERY GOOD 7 on 7 teams to make it out of Pool C. Cy Falls has already qualified, so that leaves Terry competing with Stratford and A&M Consolidated. Both of these teams have already been seminfinalists this summer with only 7 tournaments having been played. It seems like most of the Consol kids will be missing, so I'd have to go with Stratford in this one. Combine QB Andrew Luck with WR John Sorsby and the Spartans have a pretty tough combo to cover. In 7 on 7, anything can happen. However, I'd still pick Stratford to come out of Pool C.
A-Cy Creek
B-Cy Fair
C-Stratford
D-The Woodlands
Stratford and The Woodlands already played a thrilling one point game in Houston, but I'd have to go with Stratford in that semifinal. Cy Creek is usually a very good 7 on 7 team, especially early in the summer, so I'd pick them over Cy Fair.
Once again, I just think the Spartans are too much to handle and will end up defeating Cy Creek in the Final.

Also, it is almost a guarantee that the winner of The Woodlands-Jersey Village game will advance, but it is possible for this not to happen. The pools are won on overall record. Say TWHS beats JV but loses to Cy Falls and Katy Taylor. Then JV beats Falls and Taylor. That would then put JV in the semifinals. Its an unlikely scenario, but still possible.

It sounds as though SATs and vacations will affect many rosters this weekend. We're struggling to find players. Some of the obvious favorites you mention may be in the same boat.

creek tourney last year had the same problem with the SAT schedule.
i remeber jp tillman missing the "pool" play for falls & then showing up for the semi's and throwing 3 picks in a loss to langham creek. seemed too much for many of the players to handle both.

Maybe you should check out the numbers. I was referring to the langham Creek football game. No different than referring to one Langham Creek 7 on 7game.

We had to get two guys from the golf team to get to 12 players :( I'm not complaining, we have a pretty good golf team. <shrug>

CyFallsbooster2-
Terry could very well qualify, but it would be considered an upset. Stratford QB Andrew Luck is only a sophomore, so SAT's will not be a problem for him. John Sorsby has looked really good in both 7 on 7 tourneys so far this year. And RB Brandon Carlin is a good threat in the middle.

Okay Booster2 - you've admitted you don't know CyFalls that well and now you're an expert on Terry? Would that be the same Terry that Falls beat 39-13 in the semifinals at the CyFalls SQT?

never said i did not know falls, just that i am not as close to the program on a daily basis as a few years back. i still have contacts and visit with the coaches occasionally. as far as terry is concerned, i was expressing my opinion. an opinion formed from watching them in a couple of 7o7 games last weekend. i was very impressed with their players and program. teams can be impressive even in a loss. does that make me an expert? no, it helps me form an opinion. lighten up a little, huh? otherwise, you will drive yourself nuts even before the real games get here.

would those two players be considered "legal" for this tourney?!!!:p
just kidding. falls had a golfer a few years back who had played football in middle school and would have been an excellent member of the secondary. quick, fast, aggressive and smart. he just wanted to concentrate on golf in hs.

Well, Terry went 0-3 while Stratford won the tournament by defeating Cy Springs in the final. Both Stratford and Cy Springs qualify for the State Tournament in College Station. The other semifinalists were Cy Fair and Jersey Village.
