WHO will be the top 5 teams in 26 5a and who will be the top players to contribute to their success ?

1. SV
2. Judson
3. Mac
4. Churchill
5. Madison

I'll speak for Mac:

QB Schmid
Before the injury in the SV game he had better stats then Udell. His 61% comp per pass was better then Udell 54%. He had zero int to 4 for Udell. He also had 7 td's pass to 5 for Udell. Schmid runs the spread the way it's suppose to be done. He uses all his options. He won't single into one guy. He's already told the wr's that if you want the ball, then get open. With Odom, Loftin, Craig, Kinney and Williamson as his targets and this the second season under the spread this offense will be one of the best in the district.

RB Craig
Craig is an explosive runner who can score on any play. He can also lose you 4yds on any play as well and that has to be addressed. Too much dancing trying to make everything an ESPN highlight. Out of the backfield he is a dangerous weapon because there just aren't many people who can tackle him one on one. He will also be used in the slot when Mark Kyle comes in at RB.
He will also return KO's and PR's.

RB Schram
Wally is your true blue collar RB. No fancy moves. Just give him the ball and it's north and south and he won't lose yards. Very dependable on short yardage.

WR Odom
This is his year to show he's the man. At 6'3" he's a big target with above average speed. Has a nack for making the tough catch in traffic. Must improve is blocking when the ball is not thrown his way.

WR Loftin
Small wr that can take to the house on any play. Better speed then Odom and has very good hands. Has very good football instincts and knows how to get open.

WR Craig, Kinney, Williamson, Chambers
These 4 will rotate the other two spots at wr. Chambers is the up and coming QB but will be at wr this year. All 4 have shown that they have good hands.

TE Williamson
At 6'2" he's another big receiver for Schmid. He has above average speed and will cause trouble with coverages. He will also go both ways and play DE.

OL Shussler
Healthy. That's the key. If healthy he will be all district first team. Again, if healthy.

OL Williams
Solid OL who just does his job.

DT Johnson
Johnson is a monster that can play DT, DE or LB and will probably play where ever is needed but mostly at DT and DE

DE Hickman
6'2" and quick. Very sound and will keep the play inside for the LB's

DE Williamson
6'2" and even quicker. Makes a living in the other teams backfield.

LB Probably the strength of the defense
LB Kinney
Played everywhere last year due to injuries. A true hitting machine. Will be 1st team all district

LB Montdragon
Another blue collar player that is small in stature but huge in heart. Will be around the ball on every play.

LB Gallegos
Would have been 1st team all district if he didn't have to move to DT due to injuries. Will be the leader along with Kinney and Montdragon.

LB Ricker
Small player but will take on anyone. Just a football player that will get it done.

This is the core from last years team and it doesn't include all the starters from last year. Mac has been in the dumps since 2001 but made it to .500 ball last year. This is the team that can get them in the playoffs.

Hey, it's a tough district. Judson almost missed the playoffs and got to the State Finals. Going from 3 to 4 playoff teams doesn't change much. 26-5A already had 5 or 6 good teams every year so a good team will still miss the playoffs.

Reagan could replace any of the teams after Judson. As tough as it is in this district any key injuries can end a season. SV and Judson are not guaranteed a spot either. Both teams lost some core players. Both have great programs and are expected to reload but this district is better then last year and again the gap between #9 and #1 is much closer then in years past.

Churchill knows about key injuries ending a season.

I believe Churchill was 1-2 with Fanuzzi. They made a pretty good run without him, including a victory over Judson. Don't get me wrong, if Fanuzzi stays healthy, Churchill can be right in the mix; but he is not their only talented player.

I see what you're saying (they were 2-2 with him) but Fanuzzi is a difference maker. The early games they lost (Marshall, Clark) weren't due to him as much as it was due to their defense was not very good at the begining of the season. When Fanuzzi went down they became a little more conservative on offense and the defense started playing better. They still had weeks when the defense was just not that good and the offense couldn't make up the difference. That's why they were 5-5-0. If they lose Fannuzi this year, again they won't be in the playoffs. If he stays healthy, I like their chances.

Actually Churchill was 1-2 with Fanuzzi at QB for the entire game:

LOSS vs Marshall
LOSS vs Clark
Game stopped due to weather vs Austin
WIN vs SV
LOSS vs Roosevelt (Fanuzzi went down early in this one)

Churchill was credited with a win in the Austin game. A win is a win no matter how you get it. I didn't put Roosevelt as a loss for him since they were up when he went out of the game. You could say 2-3 if you count the Roosevelt game.
