I've heard a gazillion rumors, and all of "The Next Reggie" comments I care to stomach.
What's the "REAL" deal?
Ht ?
Wt ?
Arm Strength?
Accuracy?
Intelligence?
Speed?
All I've heard leads me to believe he will be good, but I can't find out the facts all the way up here in BIG D.
Who has seen him in action?

I have seen Jeremy Claybon first hand for the past two years and this year in spring ball and 7on 7. Jeremy will be a junior in the fall, he is 6'1" 175lbs. He has excellent speed and great arm strength and accuracy with his passing ability. More over he is a very bright, solid , down to earth kid with good decision making skills. I am not going to compare him to Reggie McNeal because that would not be fair to do that to anyone. Jeremy will make his own mark with the Panthers as a quarterback and leader for the PACK. He is always driven to be the best he can be and to make everyone else areound him better, in that respect he is like Reggie McNeal. To honestly answer your question, no Jeremy is not the next reincarnation of Reggie Mcneal, but he does have extrordinary talent and quarterback skills to work with and should do an excellent job for Lufkin the next couple of years.
There are pictures of him playing 7 on 7 on the Panther website @ www.lufkinpanthersports.com

To add to what PA05 said - everyone I spoke with said he had a really solid 7 on 7 tourney. His passes were generally on the money and he made good decisions. A lively arm, fast/elusive and pretty bright.
Physically he's much more talented than Smallwood was, and Jacovey was plenty good enough last year. His wr corp will be awesome, but the rb will likely be by committee and the o-line is also untested.
The question mark with Claybon will be his decision making skills oncel he gets hit by the Friday night lights, the same issue with every other qb with no snaps under his belt.

Yep - a Lefty - and, as mentione before there is some resemblance to Michael Vick, mainly in his throwing motion and speed - beyond that you obviously don't want to put that much pressure on a 16 year old kid.

And there were those who thought everyone was getting carried away over McElroy!....Go figure?

Both are unproven Drgnbkr - McElroy is a senior which I guess is a big difference since he's supposedly has gotten, what, 8 D1 offers to date? Pretty awesome for a guy who's highlights in '04 were all holding a clipboard :) Of course, the backup qb for USC got drafted this year and Jason White from OU goes home.
Hey, maybe the Vick comparison is over the top - but I tell you it's kind of uncanny - of course, you don't see many lefties to begin with.

I think Jason White messed up my order at Jack 'n the crack the other night.

i have been very impressed with him from the little i have seen him on the field but nobody knows for sure how good he is going to be until he goes out and plays vs varsity competition in a real game. the skills are there. on the reggie comparisons?? he does not remind me at all of reggie. completely different styles not to mention claybon is left handed. i heard these type of comparisons before with ashford ayers a few years back and he was not even in the same ball park with reggie. it is just an unfair comparison. reggie is probably one of those one in a million players that do not come around much. you are always going to here hyped up comparisons like that. it is just the way it is. i personally think claybon has the skills to be a very good qb but you never know?? his skills seem to be twice those of smallwood's.

I've watched him play several times as a freshman and a sophomore. I thought he was special the first time I saw him and look forward to watching
him play in the future. I think he will achieve great things!

I'm anxious to see how he develops. With LP's youthful receiver corps, this could be fun. Possibly even a transition back to a true spread offense, minus the beast in the backfield that everyone wants to see with the ball. If this kid can read and check-off, he is going to have several talented options to throw the ball too. There WILL be guys open.
How's the O-Line shaping up? Does anyone know?

The O-line is probably the biggest question mark for the Pack next year. The only real known is that no one is really coming back with huge expectations and LP will be in trouble of 1 or 2 are lost to injury - thin is the word at line.
I'm not sure what the answer is, but my general observation is LP has been somewhat weak at O-line over the past 2- 3 years, especially compared to the '01 O line. It's a concern - but, maybe pleasant surprises are ahead.

My friend Pack0808 may be jumping the gun a bit.
Travon Lewis will just be a freshman this year - still hasn't attended a day of high school. As an 8th grader he averaged around 210 yards a game on 15 or so carries - against some pretty good talent. I haven't seen him in a few months - I'm guessing he's about 5'10" - 165-175 right now and will be a freshman. I doubt you'll see him until '06 Duke - but who knows.
The rb next year will likely be Kibble & Co. -- probably will see several before the years out.

I knew my buddy Duke would be trolling around in here sizing up the comp. He just can't wait to see if TWHS is going to be the one who get's it done at Ol' Abe. :o

i am not jumping the gun i said he will be the man next year not this year. i truely believe that. i heard that tre was close to 200?? he sure looks at least 185 to 190 and he is only 14 or just turned 15?? this guy is the real deal and outlaw says he has unlimited potential and i trust outlaw's evaluation of talent more then about anybody. he might turn out to be better then j lane you never know?? i am not the one to hype up new players that have not suited up on the varsity level but this kid is special. i remember thinking the same thing about reggie when he was about 14 or 15. i thought the same thing about dez bryant before he came up late last year also. many did though.

Claybon has Elway's arm, Vick's speed, Marino's technique and Manning's intelligence.
Since we're keeping things in check... ;)
Seriously, I'm anxious to see what Lufkin looks like this year.

Well we in Lufkin hope that our new qb can live up too his Jv skills. Moving up and starting is a big step. Now for the Lewis kid....better than Lane...wow we sure hope that,s true
