They will get beat in Spring for the district title just like in P.A. last year.

It has nothing to do with last year. They were good with Lynch in 2001 and gave Judson a good game in 2002, but didn't make the playoffs. Webster Patrick ran all over Judson in 2003, but they disappointed again. Last year, they had great talent and the rookie coach got them to the title game. I know guys are back, but I don't think they have as much top-end talent in 2005 and I can't put Meekins at the top of the coaching list yet. I just think too many people are expecting too much, too soon.

Maybe you're right, but can you blame people for having such high expectations for them? They were a bunch of underclassmen and nobody expected them to go as far as they did...then...everyone comes back. But I guess why we play the game....no one really knows. To be honest...sitting in the dome watching Judson warm up...i was like "Uh ohhh Westfield is in trouble"...but we all know the story. :)

13-5A A&M Consolidated will take district this season and go father into the playoffs than they have ever gone before in the 5A bracket. Aldine Eisenhower will be their first victim at Reliant Stadium August 27th.

Realize I'm being vague - but one of the big boys with lots of holes to fill simply won't gel. Could be any number of teams from SLC to Abilene High to Lufkin to Smithson Valley.
I think Tyler Lee will have trouble defending their crown - they overcame every adversity imaginable - and had a great run at just the right time - it will be tough to duplicate that. I could see them going 7-4 and getting bounced pretty early.
At the expense of my Pack brethren continue to try to paint me green -- I still say Longview is the team to beat, and is somewhat under-rated for that reason. The only real key they have to replace is wr - and they will do that. Freeman is the question mark on that team IMO. He is one scrappy kid and was good enough to lead them undefeated up until Lufkin - I just don't know if he has the skills to win state - those last 3 games are sure to be tough ones.

The scenario can happen again, but the weak district is not the biggest element to it happening. I just think Judson is better regardless of the previous games during the year.

When i say big three, i mean as far as Austin Area football goes this year with the rankings. 15-5a consists of Leander, Pflugerville, RR McNeil, Cedar Park, and so on. The three that i was mentioning for this year are either Leander, Pflugerville, or RR McNeil. I'm not stupid, i know Austin area football isnt near up to par with Houston or Dallas, i just simply stated that we are on the rise. Because in my opinion, we have surpassed the Supercentex region as far as putting out a competitive football team (supercentex being Waco, Bryan, Copperas Cove, etc). Your thoughts?

the past three years of 15-5a vs 13-5a:
02
Leander over Copperas Cove
Waco over Pville (who woulda thunk it ;) )
A&M consol over RR westwood
advantage 13-5a
03
Leander over Belton (coulda been a different story had Ramonce Taylor did his pickle juice routine the way he usually does)
Pville over A&M consol
Temple over RR McNeil
advantage 15-5a
04
Cedar Park over Copperas Cove (both won district, and it was clear who the better team was)
Leander over Bryan (not a playoff game, but it was some what of a blowout, and we didnt make the playoffs last year, and Bryan did in 13-5a so i wanted to throw it out there)
advantage 15-5a
overall advantage goes to 15-5a, and most consider 13-5a a fairly tough district. So how are we not on the rise. 13-5a used to cake walk through our district, now they are looking at getting one team out of the three out each year.

I think when it is all said the Longview Lobos will be the surprise team. It will not be them winning the title, that will not be the surprise, because any of the top seven teams can win it, and you must include Tyler Lee. I think Longview will be the surprise when they bring a passing attack to the game, and also, their secondary developing a lot quicker than people thought they would. Leading to what looked like an easy 16 wins, title run, national championship season.

I wouldn't trust what the editors of this website wrote about us. I think their mindsets are still on last year, when we sucked. Last year was last year. 7th place, in our team's opinion, is outrageous. A revolution has gone through our team with new coaching staff, plays, and personel and I think we can compete for a playoff spot in 6-5A.

^^You have to base it somewhat of what happened last year, along with returning starters. And learning a new offense after a bad finish the previous year really hurts your chances. Just prove them wrong, this should be motivation. You dont want people to have a target on your back when you didnt win the previous year.

teams like lufkin and katy are not surprise teams if you are talking about winning. most everybody expects these two to be playing deep in the playoffs come december. the only surprise would be if these two had a mediocre year.

I'm not sure if Westlake is in your district but i know that Gtown is, When you look at the overall picture i don't think 15-5A owns 13-5A yet. Its not a cake walk anymore but its still a whole lot easier playing you guys than each other - See you in the playoffs!

Once again, never said owned. I just think that over the past few years and im gonna include this year, that 15-5a's top three are better than 13-5a's top three. If you look from top to bottom, 13-5a has no Georgetowns or Stony Points so they have better teams overall, but i'm just talking playoff temas for the most part.

Dallas Skyline have been underachieving far too long. I think with their new coach, Reginald Samples, they will be a far better team this year. It was just last year that he lead Dallas Lincoln to a state championship game in which they lost to Kilgore in OT.
Skyline has never lacked talent. I think coaching may have been their issue. I think that Samples will take this team to the next level.
Because they will have a new system, chances are they may start out a little slow, but by playoff time they should be ready to make some noise (for them I mean getting past round 1).

Unless things have changed, Good head coaches have never been an issue in the DISD. The problem there is bringing in the assistants that you want to help you. It's very difficult to "lose" a job once you have it there! I'm sure Samples is great, but if they don't let him have any leeway in hiring assistants, he'll be just as hampered as those who went before him.

Thats a good point. When Wilson came to Carter, he brought his assistants with him.
One thing to consider with Samples; since he has been in DISD a while, maybe he will get what he needs

Collyville and Coppell..
Collyville has alot 2 prove after this off season...and they had a very good JV team last year...and as always they did well at the 7 on 7 torny...
Coppell has Moody...enough said alot of ppl still underrate him for playing on a well not so good team last year. Coppell rebuilt the offense line, and they are bigger then they have been last year. like the Dallas Cowboys, Coppell ran alot of the 3-4 Defense in the Spring game... I think that they will be making that switch this year. Big Defense End, Marquies Sikes, will be leading the teams deffense, as well as a relativly unknown Defensive Tackle Blake Simmons, who started 3 games at Offensive Gaurd last season before becoming enelgibul due to his grades. If he can keep his grades up, Coppells defense looks bigger then they have been in several years.

Skyline had a very good coach in Que Brittian and they underacheived. I need to wait and see what they will accomplish under Samples.
In 11-5A, I believe Lakeview may surprise a few people. They might not be a a playoff team just yet, but new coach Don Willis, who did nothing but win state titles in Oklahoma, brings a new attitude to the program. They have always had athletes there - now they may have leadership, too. This program appears to be heading in the right direction.

I agree that T.Lee will have a very difficult time repeating last year's showing. I will not be surprised to see them make a BIG run at it though. The biggest surprize I can think of right now would be if L'View doesn't make a serious run.
IMO The Lobos were the best team we faced last year on both sides of the ball, including SLC. Not slighting The Dragons in any way. I am a BIG fan of their program and watch them as often as possible.
L'View has the talent, grit, and coaching to make it happen. The problem is that when they are playing well, they just assume they will win and don't execute on game day. I've seen it happen with them on several occassions, and hope this year it will be different for them. Until the play LP of course :o

In three years, coach Yenzer has taken Midland High to the state championship game in '02 (where they lost to Judson on pretty much the last play of the game) and he led them to a deep run last year before losing to Denton Ryan. Remember... this Midland High program had gone 50 years without making the playoffs until coach Yenzer showed up.
That being said, I dont think Midland makes the playoffs this year.

They were dang good as 8th graders. I saw them play Santa Fe and they destroyed Santa Fe like 50-7. Heck, there 8th grade FG kicker was kicking like 35 yd fieldgoals.
