We gotta get there first! Let's at least enjoy the first half of the season and thrill over what might happen in the post-season. I'm looking forward to the Woodlands game and the district part of the season (especially vs Strake). And don't take SV too lightly. They were in the State Final last season and look like a well coached team.
In the meantime.....Go TIGERS!!!!!!!

OK, and the pads go on when? Does the phrase "one game(week) at a time" mean anything? Ease up poppy, there's about 20 weeks of to enjoy between now and then. Have some fun in the meantime.

all these Katy kids keep coming on these boards and saying how they're gonna win state, or destroy an amazing team like SV in the state semis..Just so you know Katy team of 2005, you haven't done anything and you lost even more coaches. I believe very few coaches from the 2003 state title team are still there. I am a big fan of the Katy program, but c'mon now, don't make yourselves look like fools by coming on here and saying ridiculous comments. Atleast wait untill the week we'd play them..then I'm all for it :D

these kt kids may be jumping the gun a little, but when you don't remember the last time your beloveds didn't have a great chance to go all the way, you tend top be a little overboard.

Some self-proclaimed Tigers coming out of the woodwork lately. Any reasonable Katy fan would tell you that making it to December football is no easy task. I don't think fans of programs like Katy, Southlake Carroll, Judson, etc. need to make statements like the one above just because the program and the tradition speak for itself. No trash talk needed. Let the players settle it on the field.

Katy only hires coaches at the top of the food chain. You better believe Katy will still have a chance at state again. If you were to think otherwise you are a fool. If you remember there are only three teams in the state of texas that have a record that speaks for itself.

Katexrb- I wasn't trying to say Katy has no chance, they have a better chance than most teams with all those players with experience coming back, but I was just putting the kid into perspective to not go around making ridicilous claims when the season is still a month away, and that game being wayyyyy to far away to make statements like that. Katy is one of my favorite programs in the state, and if you'd like you can go back and read the super powerhouse district thread where I defended Katy like no other. I'm just looking at dynasty's of the past like Permian, where when coaches kept leaving the dynasty eventually died off. Am I saying it's Katy's time to die off now? Heck no, but I can honestly see it in the near future with all the growth in the area and the number of coaches that are gone. But Joseph is an AMAZING coach and man at that, so as long as he is there I think Katy is in good hands.

up until recently i have never seen katy fans act like this or predict or trash talk. please i respect katy so much dont take that away. i bet these are just jv or incoming freshmen players but seriously stay at katy for 3-4 years and youll see true class and discipline that is translated perfectly on the field.
poppy, etc the other katy kids on this board that talk..wait a district champ or 2 and experience the games and i guarantee you that you wont talk like that cause i dont see james aston or yalls qb or oline talkin trash cause if they were i have no doubt they woudlnt hide their identity cause of their accomplishments.

Sorry "The Dude", yeah dont know where some of these katy guys are coming from. Though we seem to have the same amount coming from SLC and Lufkin. There most likely freshmen and haven't experiened what its like winning a state championship like I have, and seeing your best friends cry. You grow up real fast. I got to say I miss offseason, and all that hard work in the offseason, and I miss my friends. It has been more the four years now but it's something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. What's funny about the whole thing is, that's the very reason I come to this forum, because I miss playing high school football. This is the closest thing to playing. Im sure many others feel the same way.

Without divulging your true identity to all of Texas I was wondering who you are. My son (J.W.) graduated in 2000 and played Varsity baseball there. He was a pitcher and outfielder. I was just wondering if your initials are either B.S. or B.T.

Yeah, I've been around for about 5 years and I haven't seen Katy fans act like this until the last few days. I hope it doesn't continue either b/c I really like Katy. :D

Yall, c'mon, seriously. Can you honestly judge a football program by what a few pre-pubescent kids are saying? Katy lets the helmets do the talking.

i think Poppys kidding us....i dont think he really means what he says....right????

HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU EVEN PREDICT EVEN THE GREAT (and i do mean great) KATY TIGERS BEATING SMITHSON VALLEY, MUCH LESS SLAP THEM LIKE STEP CHILDREN!!!!

Lets face it, Smithson Valley was an EXTEMELY young team last season that wasnt expected to do much due to the fact that they only had 1 returning starter on Offense and only a couple more on Defense....YET THEY MADE THE STATE TITLE GAME!!!!!! NOW, they have EVERYONE comming back, sure they lost a COUPLE good players, but so did everyone else including Katy who lost James Aston......Smithson Valley returns WR/QB Cody Beyer, WR Clay Fuller, LB Kendrell Volz, DB Andrew Sendejo, RB/WR/WB Blake Shrock AMONGST OTHERS..... that is WAY more than what they had last season....IMO, the only team that will beat SV is themselves....I would love to see a Smithson Valley vs Katy Semi Final, but i think Smithson would win.....

If those two fine programs are fortunate enough to make it to the semifinal round, I would have to favor Katy, only because this game would be played in the Houston area, and Katy hardly loses a playoff game when played at the Dome or in the area.

Is there any chance that we can put to end a topic that hasn't even happened yet?

Both Katy and SV will have to get through 14 weeks of football to even get to that game.

Lets take it one game at a time.

2 things:

1. SV and Katy played each other in 2002, so your 2 times in 3 years rule isn't in effect.

2. It obviously isn't a rule because Randolph has had to play Rogers in the Austin area 2 years in a row.

farmerfan
07-27-2005, 04:42 AM
Go check on it Lonny, it is a rule, has been in the UIL for years, and still is. Thats why SV came to Texas Stadium last season to play Carroll in the state finals.

Randolph and Rogers probably met in the Austin area two years in a row due to the coaches agreeing to it as a neutral site location, just like Lufkin and Carroll.

Rerun
07-27-2005, 04:54 AM
What is the rule?

Explain please.

farmerfan
07-27-2005, 07:55 AM
The rule is, that if 2 teams meet in the playoffs 2 times within 3 years, that you will rotate home and home, meaning that when Southlake and Smithson Valley played in 2002, SV won the right to play at the alamodome, since they met again within a 3 year time period, Smithson Valley had to come up to Dallas to meet Carroll.

eagleike

If both teams are lucky enough to make it to the semi's in 2005 I give the nod to Katy for the same reason. If SV plays Katy in Houston it will be a Katy win.

dragonsdaddy
07-27-2005, 11:33 AM
i don't think the rule would apply this year as it will be more than 3 years since they played(02, 03, 04). they would have to flip again, i think.

You are correct, since they didn't play each other in 03 or 04 they could pick a neutral site or flip for home field.

Last year, the Randolph coaches wanted to play at Judson or Clemens and still had to play in Round Rock. It might've been in Round Rock in 2003, too.

That's the part I don't understand. Everybody says it's a rule and then when I saw the chance for it to come true, it didn't.

farmerfan
07-28-2005, 01:40 PM
The only thing that might have happend then was that it was agreed upon in 03 that they would meet at a neutral site, so that would prohibit Randolph from playing Rogers at Judson or in San Antonio.

dragonsdaddy
07-28-2005, 01:55 PM
or since they had agreed to the init game as a neutral site, they would have had to flip home and home, and didn't want to take the chance of having to go to wisd.

No matter how you slice it, it looks like Pete Wesp made a major error like the kids who say they'll kickoff and then the other teams takes the ball in the 2nd half, too.

It could've been decided as a neutral site in 2003, but it sure wasn't one when Randolph had to go north of Austin.
