Discussed this on another thread. We decided the cut-off point must have been somewhere between AC and the Starlight Ballroom. hahaha
That is crazy.
Either that or the North team didn't want any of those thugs from Diboll on their team....just kidding.....just kidding...My sister lives in Diboll and my nephew is the quarterback at Diboll high. Wish Jermichael was playing there this season...he could pad his stats big time throwing to him.

Sure was....My Mom and Dad went and saw George Strait there...isn't that crazy? My Mom said she had to stand on a table all night in order to even see him. Meanwhile, Reece Wallace and I were at my house terrorizing the neighborhood. I remember that night like it was yesterday.

Well if that's the case we probably know each other. I ran with those guys from time to time too. Marvo's neighborhood got a little crazy at night too. But I still give the edge to Allendale/Tanglewood. After all we had R. Jones batting clean-up for us.hahahaha

Jones had his share of terrorizing the Brookhollow area and the loop. Is he still locked up. I know M.G. is. We keep in touch through letters. The one that was a little too crazy was K.D. he would throw rocks at cars. But hey at least he is not locked up and has an honest Job. My son better not do the things I did back then. He will be 13 in Jan. so there could be some tough times ahead. So far he is a better kid then I was. Anyway, are you going to watch the game tomorrow? I hope Lane gets a fair amount of carries and has a good game. I am looking forward to watching it so I can get my fix of H.S. Football to hold me over untill the end of August.

without a doubt that was one of the craziest neighborhoods we grew up in. we got into everything. lol i do not care if it was a middle to upper middle neighborhood it was wild. i was a big part of it unfortunately. ;) i mean most of us were not straight out criminals just young and dumb kids having so called fun. you better know how to fight in that neighborhood. at least i am not in jail like most were or are now. lol i have only had over night visits in my young and dumb years. lol by the way wide, the old starlight is where my parents go to church and i go sometimes. it is a huge place!! we left st.cyprians a while back. who are you lpfan??
ok back on subject sorry, lol at the boundaries being the starlight ballroom and the junior college. i hope both javorski and jermichael have big games. it is kind of hard to have big games in all star games though. everybody plays and they do not go to a particular player over and over usually. they try to get everybody involved like it should be in an all star game. hopefully j mike will make it out of town without producing another offsrping. ;)

Jamaal Charles scored the first touchdown of the game. And in the sideline interview...I think he was speaking a foreign language....sounded something like..."Talka 'bout uhhhhh Talka 'bout uhhhh...whatchacallit...uhhhh...Vince Young and 'nem...uhhhh The University ...uhhh...state of Texas...."

I think the TV guys made a great point when they said that Chase was having a hard time going under center. He is so used to the shotgun from his SLC days that he doesnt really handle being under center well. If I'm not mistaken, Mizzou runs an offense that will put him in the shotgun most of the time so he should feel good in their offense.

Ya, no doubt that is alot to do with it. The comfort zone isnt there. Brock Berlon (Evangel) was the same thing. He was so use to being in the "gun" at ECA that when he went under-center he was not comfortable at all and it showed bigtime during games.

Chase Daniel has started to come on fire and delivering some very nice accurate passes. Too bad for that holding call. It seemed Daniel was starting to lose his cool and throwing some fits when things weren't going his way, but he's settled down and back in form now. Finley...man I can't even begin to describe how impressed I am with this kid. He has made so many amazing catches, some of them not being ruled as catches, but still the fact that he went up and came down with them was incredible. And I never thought I'd see the day that big ol' Jorvorskie would get put on hit butt. Of course he came back with a viscious stiff arm later(0 yards on the play, but the stiff arm was pretty) I never got to saw Jamaal Charles during the season and all I can say is WOW..I am impressed and this is an all-star game with 1 week of practice. I can't wait to see him running the ball in that burnt orange one day.

I completely agree. Lane is a beast and pretty much non existent in this game due to the North Coach's decesions.

I like to watch All-Stars games for that individual athletic talent on the field. Its fun to watch many of the blue-chips that you dont really get to see much throughout the season.
I'm impressed with the Texas recruits in the game. I know that Texas has taken some hits by the so called "experts" for not really having a big class. But, what Texas did sign is good... VERY GOOD.
I'm impressed with Charles, Finley, Muckelroy and even Colt McCoy has impressed me some. Put those kids with the DT-Roy Miller and it looks good.
Heck, put those kids with this group coming up this season and "look out." :)
All that has to happen now is Mack Brown and Co. need to coach em up.

I didnt like the way Colt and Daniel were rotated. Rotating the QBs every series if fine, but they were being roated during a series. That's no good.
BTW, I cant wait to see Colt when he's handing the ball to Jamaal Charles or throwing to Jermichael Finley. I have watched Colt play in the Abilene area for a couple of years now and he is about an outstanding a young man as there is.

I agree with you on that one. Colt would drive 60+ yards and have it all clicking, then they would put Daniel in. He converted the TD on one, but didnt on the other and Colt came back in. Colt is also one heck of a player. I argued that point from day one of last season. I think he is the best in Tx at the position in that class. Just didnt get the media attention that others got. He got to show that tonight.

nobody mentions they are brother's, even the lufkin area media and i think this is why wide!! j lane does not even list him as his brother in the lufkin program. they have different mom's and grew up in different households and i guess they never have really acknowledged it. i think the media is just trying to respect that. i am sure it will come out in college because a story is a story when you get to the higher levels if both of these guys are standouts at a&m and texas. now all of you know why lufkin fans were very dissappointed when j mike moved right down the road to diboll with his grandma. he would have added a whole other dimension to the lufkin offense and defense. he was just as good as a safety. he is a scary specimen that i have been bragging about for years in this site now. you just saw a little taste of what he is capable of doing. he was a top notch basketball player also that had scholarships all over for that too. he was originally going to arizona to play basketball before changing his mind. he has one of the top vertical leaps in the united states to go along with that 6'5 frame. on j lane, he had only 4 carries but he managed to still get 34 yards for 8 yards a carry. on the hit where j lane was landed on his hind end. i have never seen that happened before. i think it shocked him!! the linebacker was coming on a full out blitz and had all of the momentum and knocked lane down. if it was the other way around and lane had the momentum it would have been a different story. i knew he was going to try to get some revenge on somebody if he got the ball again and he did. on a run on the goal line he basically knocked a guy 2ft in the air with a stiff arm. he did not gain any yards on the play but he sure desroyed that tackler.

KTRE has run at least 2 stories on Javorskie and JerMichael. They have a little brother that was also on one of the stories. In one story they had both of them together and Javorskie asked JerMichael "What would it take to get you to come to A&M?" Then just the other day they did an interview with Javorskie and he talked about playing against his brother in the All Star Game. Anyway I am not a football coach but I think the North coach messed up by not utilizing Lane more often. I was very disappointed. I didn't expect him to get 25+ carries but at least 15 would have been nice. His brother looked good though. I am sure Texas fans were happy to see what they were getting.

My son and I were trying to figure out what he was saying too. Hey at least he looked like he was happy and having fun. We had a hard time figuring out what he was saying just like the opposing defense had a hard time figuring out which direction he was going. He was shaking alot of the defenders. While having good verbal skills is important that does not make someone a better human being. Just because I have good verbal skills does not put me above someone who does not. But hopefully his will improve over the years as he matures. I am sure they will.

Crap, you guys are just cruel. Give the kid a break. The first interview was hard to understand, but he seemed quite nervous and out of breath. The second one was much better and I had no trouble understanding what he said.
In case you actually care...He said that the coaches told them if they work hard in practice it will show up in the game and that he and J-Mike just did what they did all week in practice. In response to "Was it that easy for you guys?" He said, "It was kinda easy, we just made it look easy." He closed by saying, "Whassup everybody in PA?"
By all accounts he is a quiet guy and a good kid. If most of us were thrown in front of a camera on a live interview after we'd just scored a TD, I'm sure we'd stumble over our words and not sound as intelligent as we actually are. On top of that, you can't always judge intelligence by how someone speaks. I've known people who talk a big game, but actually know very little.
And, yes, he has already cleared all entrance requirements.

The jerks who call Vince "Radio," poking at the fact that they think he's ******** are missing the true and striking irony that the joke is actually on them. The real "Radio" is a much better person than any of those people ever will be.
They're also missing the fact that Vince was an honor roll student in high school and he's on the Academic All-Big 12 team and needs just 43 hours to complete his degree.

Keep yuckin' it up aggy...Cuba is coming at you again this year...and he might even have "mushmouth" in the backfield.
I promise you.......aggy is ALL over this. And quite frankly I don't blame them.
If Reggie did a sideline interview and sounded like Bob Dylan and Flavor Flav's love child....I would be ALL over him too.
Sadly, 4 years of college probably won't help. Anybody heard the James Brown (former UT QB, not the Godfather of soul...although their speech is quite similar) radio commercial for Lumbermax.com...Good Lord...somebody please tell him to stop it!

I was upset as well. I think it had a lot do with the fact that the coaches didn't know what capacity to use him in. He is unique to say the least. And with just one week of practice...they probably didn't know exactly how to use him. I was waiting for the fake snap to Chase and Javorskie running...or maybe even throwing it downfield.
Yes...I will make at least one regular season game....and if my luck is as good as it was last season...The playoff games will be in my backyard. Man...that was lovely. I'm about 5 minutes away from WISD and 10 away from Floyd Casey.

Hope the Mizzou staff is a better judge of character then I... Because I just saw Chase Daniel lose his temper and lose much of his game. It's funny when you start seeing a player perform as he did. It's not how you act when you are winning or up, but how you act under pressure and adversity... I'm sad to say, the kid has no heart.

Good post buddy! My sister cant talk at all, and she was first in a class of 600. Its true that you cant judge people on that kind of stuff. If he got into college, which he did, then he must be smart... I would have done just as bad after running all over a football field, with the jitters of being on TV... But I loved the wssup PA!

Just getting in on this -- I thought Colt McCoy looked really good - strong arm and quick. Finley was awesome - though I only caught it on tape - I missed much of the first half. I'm happy for both of those non 5A kids - they really belong.
Charles looked awesome - he may start next year at UT - who knows. I thought Chase Daniel had a really solid second half - the TD pass called back was beautiful - that could have changed the entire ending if they get that score. As I stated I missed must of the first half - if Chase was off - I'd bet it was mis-communication as much as anything.
You smack-talking youngsters need to go get a summer job sacking groceries or something - you got wayyyyy too much time and energy on your hands.

Yes, back to the actual game...
Finley was incredible. That was the first time I've seen him play and I was very impressed. I know he lacks prototypical WR speed, but I would give him a shot at WR. He could be similar to a Mike Williams.
Chase did not have his best night, although he threw some great balls. I've seen him enough to believe he'll do just fine at Mizzou.
Jamaal Charles was himself...I was glad he got to do his thing.
Howard Morrow was impressive too. He'll be a very good player for the Aggies.
Emmanuel Sanders quietly had one of the best showings of any of them. He showed some nice ability on offense and he pretty much shut Morrow down on D.
Chris Brown was a terror off the edge. Whether at OLB or DE, he could be special for the Horns.
Last but not least, Colt McCoy looked good too. He didn't throw the hardest, prettiest ball, but he was on target and showed good mobility and decision making. He reminds me of 'Opie'...with wheels.

Finley is something to really get excited about if you are a Longhorn fan. He doesnt have to have high end speed because he is so big. He was listed at 6'5 220 and his leaping ability is incredible. You can probably expect him to put on another 10-20 pounds in college. Remember that he was recruited as a TE, but is probably more of a "tweener" like David Thomas... a smaller TE with great receiving ability. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Finley lined up at TE from time to time and also split out wide. He's just a phenominal athlete.
I was very pleased to see Colt play the way he did. The big knock on thsi kid was that he came from a 2A school, but I think Colt proved he can play with the big boys. You have to remember that Colt is the all time leading passer in 2a and one of the top passer in the history of Texas high school football. If he had played at a 4A or 5A school, he probably would have been a very high 4 star or 5 star recruit and one of the top QB recruits in the nation. He compares very favorably to Graham Harrell from Ennis who is now at Texas Tech. Both are in the neighborhood of 6'2 190 with good mobility and very good arms. Both put up incredible numbers and both should do very well at their respective schools.
Here's a quick highlight video of the game...

Most of what I said about Jamaal was said as a joke. However, I do hope that he learns to speak to the press in a more professional manner. It was embarassing, for me as a Longhorns fan...and I'm positive I wasn't the only 'Horns fan that felt that way.
At 31, I reflect back on a lot of stuff my Dad said to me as a youngster...that I let go in one ear and out the other...and I regret being so hard-headed and stupid. Patrick Ewing lived in New York for about 5 or 6 years before he played at Georgetown. The guy could speak English. I guess you could call it english.

You guys can make fun of me all you want for saying this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I can look at people's eyes and how they carry themselves and tell a lot about their character.
Chase Daniel does not have what it takes to be a great college QB or a pro QB for that matter. You can look at his eyes and facial expressions and see the hot-headedness and cockiness he takes into each game. He looks good as long as he's winning, but he doesn't have the demeanor to win a lot of games from behind or pull through when times are tough.
Guys, I don't have any bones to pick or axes to grind. It's nothing against SLC, but I do have to tell you what I see in the boy and my character judgments about people have proven to be correct most of the time. Yes, I saw him lose his cool several times in the state title game in 2004, but my thoughts about him were formed before that game. All I needed to do was see pictures of him in Texas Football last year. With his demeanor, he's better suited to play LB than QB. It works the same way with women. You can always look at a woman and see if she has a real temper/controlling problem.

Not trying to knock Daniel, but from what i saw tonighit as far as accuracy, temper, and leading a team by example (not by natural ability) i'll let Mizzou have Daniel and i'll gladly accept Colt McCoy. He looked like the more impressive qb. And I was very impressed with all the UT committs, especially Chris Brown, Jamaal Charles (impressed with his ability to play the game of football anyway :D ), Jerimichael Finley, Roddrick Muckerlory, and Colt McCoy. Howard Morrow, the aggie commit from Keller Fossil Ridge impressed me as well.

Chase has never really had to deal with losing. He will have to learn how to deal with it at Mizzou and it will be very interesting to see how he does. I personally think he has all the physical tools, but his mental and leaderships skills will be put to the test a program like Mizzou. I hope he does well, but I do thing it will be hard on him.

MVP Charles sparks South to win
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Larry Bodin - The News Sports Correspondent Posted: 07/27/05 - 11:10:47 pm CDT

Courtesy photo by Alan Pearson Jamaal Charles celebrates after scoring another touchdown for the South
SAN ANTONIO - Throughout their careers, Memorial all-America running back Jamaal Charles and Nederland quarterback Dustin Hood always stood head and shoulders above the rest.
On the Alamodome turf here Tuesday night in the Texas High School Coaches Association North-South all-star football game, Charles and Hood provided many of the same fireworks Golden Triangle fans have watched for three seasons as the pair helped the South all-stars knock off the North, 37-21.
In accepting his Offensive MVP award, the same award Joe Washington, Jr. won some 23 seasons ago in this game, Charles said he's, "looking forward to the next step in his career."
Charles, who displayed the razzle and dazzle Southeast Texas fans have come to expect from him every time out, ran for touchdowns of one and seven yards, and helped make a Golden Triangle highlight film on a 31-yard TD strike from Nederland's Hood.
Headed for Austin and the University of Texas in two weeks, Charles raced for 105 yards on just 20 carries against a defense that was stacked up to stop the run. He also caught two passes of three and 31 yards and returned a pair of punts for seven and 11 yards. Although Charles was the deep back on kickoff returns, the North team feared his breakaway talents so much it pooch-kicked every kickoff.
"I know when I play against better players, I play better," he said. "I just come out every time and play my hardest and help give me team a chance to win."
While Charles' expected "big-time" college career begins in earnest in a couple of weeks, Nederland's Hood closed out his football career in tremendous fashion.
Hood, a standout two-sport star at Nederland, will take the baseball route in college as he heads to Wake Forest in two weeks.
Completing 10-14 passes for 133 yards and the dazzling 31-yard pitch to Charles in the first half, Hood said he'll never ever forget the experience he's had over the past couple of days.
"I knew it was gonna be my last football game and I got that TD pass to Jamaal, which was a special memory," Hood noted. "The entire experience was great. When we got here last week, we didn't know what to expect. But we've all become great friends. It'll be really fun to watch these guys on Saturday college football games on TV. And I'm sure some will also get to the NFL."
The Nederland standout said making "this team was a great honor and I'll remember it forever. Some day I can tell my kids and my grandkids what a great experience it was. Being around these guys has made me a better person."
One man who had the best seat in the house in watching a talent such as Charles perform for an extended period was South head coach Lee Bridges.
"I've coached two great backs here in San Antonio that I thought were phenomenal - Robert Merrell (TCU) and Jacoby Scott, who just graduated, But Jamaal is everything they are and a little bit more," Bridges exclaimed.
"He and Dustin are really great kids and were a pleasure to work with."
Bridges noted that Charles' speed and quickness is as good as it gets. "He is SO fast and quick. And he's really a big kid (6-1, 194), even though he doesn't look that big."
The South mentor said, "Texas has a kid that can really fly, is tough as nails, and is very unselfish. "I really feel he's a kid we'll be watching on Sundays in a few years."
Bridges also praised the work of Hood at quarterback. "Dustin really did a good job and I'm so proud of him. He's a very intelligent athlete and I told him I'll be following his baseball career on the Internet."

lonny, don't give up your day job. you'll need it to get the fifty cents with which you'll want to combine your opinion so as to get your morning joe. i've never thought putting up with losing is a quality to be admired in a qb, or any ball player for that matter. dealing with adversity is important and i'm assuming you mean that since chase only lost 1 game in 3 years, the other 47 were beds of petunias. anyone who watched the l monty game or even his worst game overall, the sv game, saw a kid who could have spit the bit, but didn't. instead he took the load and hauled it to the promised land. all you hosers and shade tree sports psychologists need to glance in the mirror periodically and see if there's a teenager in there who has flaws and weaknesses just like the rest of the populace, yet proceeded to win more games in 2 years than any 5a qb has ever won, on bigger stages, with more pressure and more vocal detractors. will he be successful at mizzou? time will tell. will they go 47-1 under his reins? i doubt it. will he get used to losing and thus disintegrate into a sobbing mass of blubber. not likely. will the hacks on here still be typing out valuable opinions based on some unfathomable ability to look into peoples eyes through a tv screen and pass judgement on that person's depth of character. indubitably. until the last nail is hammered into his coffin, i'm sure we'll keep being flushed upon by mr wizard.

agreed. I dont like the way SLC does things sometimes but that is beside the point. I still think Colt is a better all around QB out of all 5 divisions, but Chase was the best in 5A. I cant look in his eyes and tell you anything about him. What I see, is on the field. There ARE times when he throws a little fit every now and then when things dont go his way. The other 98% of the time he is a great QB. Most kids his age do not understand that that game was going to be different than any prior games. The timing would be off, you may forget someones name on your team, you have to be swiched out to allow playing time to others (even during a series). All kinds of crazy changes from what you are used to. He will do fine at Mizzu, and he will get rid of that attitude which will help him more than anyone. Its one thing to have a want to win, its another to show too much emotion when your not.
lonny, don't give up your day job. you'll need it to get the fifty cents with which you'll want to combine your opinion so as to get your morning joe. i've never thought putting up with losing is a quality to be admired in a qb, or any ball player for that matter. dealing with adversity is important and i'm assuming you mean that since chase only lost 1 game in 3 years, the other 47 were beds of petunias. anyone who watched the l monty game or even his worst game overall, the sv game, saw a kid who could have spit the bit, but didn't. instead he took the load and hauled it to the promised land. all you hosers and shade tree sports psychologists need to glance in the mirror periodically and see if there's a teenager in there who has flaws and weaknesses just like the rest of the populace, yet proceeded to win more games in 2 years than any 5a qb has ever won, on bigger stages, with more pressure and more vocal detractors. will he be successful at mizzou? time will tell. will they go 47-1 under his reins? i doubt it. will he get used to losing and thus disintegrate into a sobbing mass of blubber. not likely. will the hacks on here still be typing out valuable opinions based on some unfathomable ability to look into peoples eyes through a tv screen and pass judgement on that person's depth of character. indubitably. until the last nail is hammered into his coffin, i'm sure we'll keep being flushed upon by mr wizard.

man, this thread blew up real quick. chase daniel was by far the better looking qb to me. much better arm and accuracy and athletic ability no matter what the stats were for this pointless all star game. he will be a success in college. he reminds me a lot of drew tate with his skills and his competitive attitude. we all know what drew tate has done so far and we heard all of his critics on his size and attitude. i was impressed with his sideline interview and i was impressed with his competiveness. it seems somebody is always trying to run down slc athletes and i think a lot of that is jealousy. i am not a slc fan at all as everybody knows and slc has broken my panther's heart twice in the state semis in close games in 2002 and 2004 but i respect them tremendously. hey lpfan i believe you about the ktre news stories on javorski and jermichael but i have never personally heard it mentioned. jermichael 40 time has been low as 4.5 that is not slow at all for a 6'5 220 pounder. he does not have world class speed but he is not slow. i bet he is much faster then michael irvin was and that is who he kind of reminds me of. jermichael leaping ability is absolutely amazing!! he can just flat get up. i watched him play basketball a few times and he is the quickest jumper i have every personally seen live.
on the jamall charles thing. first of all, i have been interviewed on tv many times when i was 18 and 19 and i would be a little concerned if i sounded like that and i would work on it. does it mean he is not a good guy?? no!! he can learn to develop better verbal skills as he gets more comfortable. i have to admit he does give off the perception of being a thug. reggie did not sound great in interviews his freshmen year either. he has improved his talking skill's tremendously since then. a lot of it has to do with being nervous and not being used to doing interviews. i know, it is taboo to judge or talk bad about an 18 year old kid in this politically correct world but i am sorry folks people do judge how you speak and look. that is just a fact!! who said ricky sounds bad when talking?? ricky williams is very well spoken even though his actions are odd. either way, you do not have to be a genius to get into college and you do not have to be a genius to be a great athlete. we all have our strengths and weaknesses and it is easier to judge then to be judged. in fact, texas is at the bottom when it comes to graduating athletes.
hey wide, you know i always got your back just like back in the days but getting into personal spats on the net is not worth it. i have had my share by the way!! lol you are very opinionated like me so you are always going to have some that disagree with you. i used to would want to track them down when they got personal but now i just make my point and let them make their point and move on. lol i just agree to disagree while giving them a few shots along the way and let it go. ;)

You guys can make fun of me all you want for saying this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I can look at people's eyes and how they carry themselves and tell a lot about their character. . . . He looks good as long as he's winning, but he doesn't have the demeanor to win a lot of games from behind or pull through when times are tough. . . . All I needed to do was see pictures of him in Texas Football last year. With his demeanor, he's better suited to play LB than QB. . . . It works the same way with women. You can always look at a woman and see if she has a real temper/controlling problem.
Make fun of you? OK. I'm in.
Some folks would call you a bigot for thinking you can judge a person's character just by looking into their eyes.
Perhaps we should ask the SV or Lufkin or Denton Ryan or Abilene fans about how Chase Daniel responds in very tough games or how he responds when his team falls behind. He showed (on the field) how he responds.
Your post is an insult to SV, Lufkin, Ryan, Abilene, etc. when you say that Chase doesn't have the character to win tough games. It took an incredible performance to beat those outstanding teams.
You think SLC's run to the title was a cakewalk? achieved by quarterback with flawed character? Hardly.
I'd say it was Chase Daniel's passion that contributed to the success rather than the opposite that you foolishly conclude.

AMEN....
Chase is arrogant, and at times a hot head. Those qualities under the right circumstances and practiced self control are proven assets of leadership. This kid, as well as several other student athletes in his class, have lessons in life coming their way. However, without these traits, his ability to one day lead a team in a bigger game than HS football would be seriously in doubt. He has confidence in his abilities, and with growth and some valuble life lessons, I have to think he will rise to the occassion.
At least to the best of my knowledge he's not thug, out making babies, selling drugs and robbing c-stores destroying his opportunities, as happens all too often with student athletes who have such high expectations to make it BIG.
GOOD LUCK CHASE

not having the ability to read minds , sense auras or devine peoples character through a tv screen, i went back and reviewed a few things i can do through a tv screen. chase's fault-finders point to several miscues, and they are of course accurate in naming them as miscues. i'm hear to tell you, and i may be as qualified to state these facts as anyone except chase and the slc coaches, the interception and both the fumbles occurred while chase was attempting to perform acts for which he had either never or rarely practiced, or will never do again. the first fumble req'd him to catch a carom off the rb's pads- not likely ever practiced. the second was during an under-center snap-rarely practiced or done and not likely ever done at mizzou either. the int involved a misread between a qb and a rec who have been practicing together all of 4 days- never before done in a meaningful game, and never to be done again. if practice does indeed make perfect, i wonder if the corollary might be true also, that novelty begets mistakes.

There was one comment of Lonnie's about Chase that might have hit home for a few Dragons--about his temperament being well-suited for playing LB. There were likely a few Dragon O-linemen over the past several years (from 8th grade through 12th) who would have enjoyed facing Chase across the line for a change, rather than listening to him yell at their butts from the backfield--a skill he never lacked.

i don't know many who would deny that during his years at slc, they might have wanted to kick his tail, but that comes with the territory, and families are like that, yeah they are. again, i doubt many "let's all just get along" guys play in 3 straight state championship games. some times it truly does require an arsonist to get a fire started.

There were more than a few safeties who had to try & tackle Daniel, thinking they were hitting a linebacker...only to have him pull away with his speed...I don't think Coach Dodge would want any part of Chase apologizing for his competitiveness....& we're sure going to miss it around here..he's a rare talent

I think chase Daniel will be very good at Missouri. It's only an All-Star game so some kids click and some kids dont. I think in the Texas Coaches All-Star game they literally have like 3 practices. Chase Daniel also had a handful of solid plays and had the nice touchdown pass (called back on holding). He hit a couple of nice slants and seem passes. He'll be fine.
Second... his attitude. I'll take a QB anyday on my team that has that "lets get it done attitude." Some people might call that Team LEADERSHIP. As long has he's not yelling and screaming at Coaches or other players on the sideline. I've seen a few SLC games and never have I seen C. Daniels throwing attitudes around at anyone.
Last... the part about the Women is totally Classic. very funny !!! :) I'm not sure how its being used to compare football players but's its funny.

I'd like to add something else to the Chase Daniel thread. I agree to the max that you want a competitive guy at QB and you have to have a certain cockiness to play the position. I'll watch to see how he plays at Missouri, but right now I think he'll be closer to the next Ryan Leaf than he will be to the next Troy Aikman. Chase deserves a lot of credit for winning a bunch of games, but all of you guys have to wonder how he'll adjust to not winning every game. He might do fine, but I have my doubts that the QB with the LB mentality will be a great college QB.
Whether you intended it or not, the honest assessment of some of the Dallas-area people helped validate some of what I said I saw in Chase. He has very good talent and I wasn't trying to hate on him. I just never got around to saying what I said a few days ago during the season last year. I could've said it when I bought Texas Football in 2004. If it makes you guys feel better, maybe I'll find somebody else to pick on, so you don't think it's a SLC thing! :D I've posted a lot of things on this board and never said that about a player before, so you should figure I'm being honest.

I've always been a church-goer and prayed for wisdom about 20 years ago. I'm not perfect in all my analyses, but one thing I have had over the years is the ability to discern stuff. It manifests itself in knowing a person's character and knowing when people are lying. That's what led to the first Chase post I made. One of the things that has always been funny to me is the fact that bad people who change their lives for good, still have eyes that say, "I'm a bad person". I don't think that ever goes away. Yes, I'm a big proponent to the statement, "eyes are the window to the soul."

When I was writing that, I was thinking we better get back on topic pretty soon or the thread will be locked! :) I didn't get to see the game, so I don't have any great analysis about what took place.
There is one thought that has always gone through my mind in these games and it's, "Why do they play All-Star games within a few months of the start of the season and risk injury?" The colleges have to be on pins and needles for 3 hours.
