I realize this could sound stupid - but do you ever stop to think how much is spent on pressboxes? I bet a pressbox represents 20% of a total stadium cost.

All pressboxes today must be disabled compliant (elevators) - which is fine - but why build a pressbox in the first place? Do the coaches/writers really need a climate controlled catbird's seat? I say let 'em sit with the rest of us.

Thats a nice place. I would like to see what happens with the attendance for the games. Thier old stadiums were never full except for the Carter-Kimball or Carter- Skyline games. They are going to feel like they are playing in a canyon if the fans don't show up to watch the games.

Real nice use of Dallas ISD tax money, close Wilmer-Hutchins and open a new stadium.

PA - I think WH was it's own school district - kind of a no man's land really - but I'm not sure. WH has had money troubles for decades.

Looks very nice.
I heard that the first game played there will be Saturday night, Sept. 10. Arlington Lamar -vs- Carter Cowboys.
I for one will be there.

That looks very nice, but I must disagree with the pressbox statement. I think that it should be as nice as a school could afford. Ours in Lufkin looks like a 2a school. We are a 5a school with the smallest and really just plain jane of any I have seen. We are going to have turf, a new pratice field and a jumbotron scoreboard and still that dinky pressbox.

I think state-of-the-art press boxes are a complete waste of money. Think about it...how often are they used? Maybe twenty times a year?! I believe in a nice press box to accomodate the folks that use it, but some of the ones I saw this year were so big and so lavish. What a waste of money.

Well I have a different opinion about pressboxes... I was in the Garland pressbox literaly every day of the week filming practice, and filming every varsity game... I enjoyed the new pressbox... anything is better than the old green one with the little metal platform jutting out from the side :P

You'll be hard pressed to find anything about sports on DISD website.

To bad they put the track in. Puts the seats to far back. (check it out) How many times will you get 10k fans at a track meet?

Go to www.dallasisd.org. Go to the top where it says "news" then click on "bond prgram." That will bring up the bond page. On the left of that page, click on "New Facilities." You will see the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex... just click on that and you'll get all the info.

Of course, I can also just give you the link...

They probably put a track in because there are some pretty good track being ran in the DISD.

Especially when Carter goes to state every year in track!!

Plus the area draws large track crowds.

I hope those seats have backs on them in the upper deck. It looks like it.
