Who are your steals of the draft?

Two I really like:

Joseph Addai- RB, LSU (Houston Sharpstown product)
Leon Williams- LB, Miami

Read a nice article on Manning in the MRT this morning. Looks like he could be a sleeper big time.

Here's a pretty good story from the Abilene paper about Manning...

He's one helluva athlete.

Gerald Riggs Jr. (5'11 1/2 235 lbs) 4.5 40yd. 225 x 23 times. 670 squat. Power! Power! Power! I hear they asked him, in his interview, what he loved about football, he said one word," Contact!" He loves it. And I do recognize he was injured nearly half of his senior season, but if he stays healthy he can be an awsome sleeper, and within the next few years he'll be a solid rb, if not an elite. This kid is nowhere near his potential, and could end up being a much beter pro rb, than a collegiate. He reminds me of a Jamal Anderson, but with a much more physical mentality. (Potential Jerome Bettis, as he can add another 10 to 12 pounds, easily.)

PLUS, HE PLAYED RB IN THE SEC! NUFF' SAID!

(Lets remember, Priest Holmes wasn't drafted, either!)

The genetic pool is definitely working in Riggs Jr.'s favor.

This is easy for me... REGGIE BUSH!! Since he is the best overall guy in the draft.

Reggie Bush was a steal. He fits in better in NO than he would have in Houston. I would also nominate the following steals...

Winston Justice in round 2
LenDale White in round 2
Leonard Pope in round 3
Max Jean-Gilles in round 4
Darnell Bing in round 4
Jon Scott in round 5
Mike Hass in round 6
Zach Strief in round 7
Rod Wright in round 7

Yeah I have to agree with Leonard Pope, Winston Justice, LenDale White, Darnell Bing, and Jon Scott as some of the notable steals in this draft.

No bigger steal the Reggie McNeal in the 6th round. Since the Bengals are intent on turning him into a receiver, I think he'll be the next Randy Moss. Great speed and leaping ability.

oh wow that's bold...

To sound like a homer, I've gotta say Eric Winston at the top of the third, and even maybe even Demeco Ryans a bit

Eric Winston was a good pick as well as Demeco Ryans. I think the Texans did a good job focusing on the defense in this draft.

When he is better than Bert Emanuel, Antwan Randle El, or Hines Ward( other college QBs who excelled in the pros) I will start to compare him to Moss.

Steals:
1) Anyone from USC including Leinart.
2) Addai from LSU
3) Reggie McNeal
4) Jay Cutler

I don't consider Manning a steal - he was taken 2nd round from ACU - most folks have never heard of him. He could be special, but I can't call it a steal.

How in the world can you call Jay Culter a steal? Most considered him a mid-first round talent and he went a couple spots higher than he was ranked. Cutler is a stretch long before he is a steal.

I won't hold it against you if you'r still boycotting ESPN JT - but, have you been hiding under a rock for 3 months? Many, many analysts listed Cutler as the best qb in the draft including Ron Jaworski and a host of others. Denver traded UP to get him at 11. Mid-first rounder? Show me one legit. analyst that had him sliding to 16 or 20.

I really like Greg Blue, Safety out of Georiga I think he went to the Eagles in the 5th round or 6th.

Mel Kiper. He had Cutler at #21 on his board hence the reason Kiper kept calling him overrated.

Here is a left field one, David Thomas for New England, he would fit in well with the Patriots offense & be an excellent 3rd down receiver for them.

New England got two steals IMO. Thomas is one. Not only is he an outstanding pass catching TE who will fit perfectly in New England's offense, but he has the added worth of being a deep snapper. He showed off his long snapping skills at Texas' pro day and really impressed. That is probably why he was drafted that high.

The other steal I think is Garrett Mills from Tulsa. He played TE in college and was his team's leading receiver with well over 1000 yards, but he is actually projected as a FB in the pros. New England will probably use hims as an H-Back putting him on the line, split out or in the backfield. He goes about 6'2 230 with 4.6 speed and amazing hands. He put on a receiving clinic against Mobilhoma this past season (13 catches for 152 yards). He practiced and played as a FB in the Senior Bowl as well as his pro day and was very impressive all along the way. I think he'll be a Chris Cooley type guy that can catch 70+ passes a year. In the Pats' offense, he will be huge.

only problem is, there are about 8 other TEs on the Patriots roster ;)
