Somebody is going to have to explain this logic to me...
Texans general manager Charley Casserly won't be around to see how his '06 draft picks pan out. Casserly is expected to get his walking papers from owner Bob McNair shortly after the draft. Sources say he already has put his Houston home on the market and probably will wind up with a football operations job in the NFL office in New York. Former Broncos, Giants and Falcons coach Dan Reeves was hired by McNair last year as a consultant. He won't replace Casserly, but will have a good deal of influence into choosing his successor. The two leading candidates, sources say, are Falcons vice president of player personnel Ronnie Hill and Broncos director of pro scouting Rick Smith.

Don't think it really matters, Kubiak has most of the input this year on the team anyhow. If they let him go now it's not like a replacement could be hired quickly. If anything, it's so there is a GM in place for the draft, for negotiations and what not.
Like I said, most of the input for picks is coming from the coaching staff. So really this is irrelevant

Yeah, I doubt any of the draft picks this year will be Casserly's. McNair and Kubiak have all of the pull based on Casserly's situation in my opinion. I first heard Casserly was on his way out about a month ago.

Texans could quite possibly be the worst franchise in the history of pro football. Do they ever know what they are doing?

I hope that he is out the door soon.

Doesn't matter to me...ok yes it does. Even though I am a Cowboy's fan, I can't stand to see Houston struggling like this. Mario Williams will be good for the Texans defense...but what about the OFFENSIVE LINE? Has the Texans done anything worthwhile to help this situation or are they still going to rely on Tony Bosselli to come back (sarcastic remark)?
I want the Texans to be good. Show that greedy ******* Bud Adams who took the Oilers from Houston that the city is better off without him.
Will the Texans make the playoffs in a few years? I hope so.

I have not latched on to the Texans yet so it really doesn't matter a huge deal but let me say this - WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS!!! I'm sure Williams is a good player but it's not even about that at this point. What they need is exposure, marketing, FANS!!! Can you imagine the marketing impact if they had taken Vince?? They would have done millions off of that alone. Even Bush would have been a marketing dream. Williams? Hmmm. Where is the logic. I know they need defensive linemen badly but they are SO bad that it doesn't make a difference at this point - it's going to take years to build them up. I can hear the boos already. What a shame. And Casserly looks like the biggest dweeb I have ever seen - he shouldn't be allowed to be on TV.

AZTiger you are a homer!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone in the NFL is making fun of the stupid move the Texans just pulled off. What makes you think Williams is going to all the great.
He comes from the ACC. They never had a player taken first in the draft. He will get double team in the NFL and you will never hear from williams again.

Props to the Houston brass so far in the 1st round. They have shown that they have the balls, and a plan! A plan is where it`s at, not making millions, and still getting your butts wipped! That is saying it`s ok to lose, but as long as we have corp. boxes selling for big bucks it`s a cool. But as the season goes on and your 0-10 that does`nt sell friggin nothing, but getting another #1 pick!
It`s not about anything, but winning a Super Bowl! Screw all that pomp!

McNair has been had by the carpetbagger Casserly.
This is the worse thing that could have happen.
I could have lived with Bush.
Nothing personal against Mario.
This organization is just not making the right decisions.
The only thing they have done right is to correct a wrong when they hired Gary Kubiak as coach.

Not much of a fan, if that runs you! Have fun with a team that just dissed Mc Nair, after he gave up his body for them!

He should be on his way out now after he passed on Bush. What an idiot but he addressed a need by taking Willams.

Their only "plan" they have is to see if Carr can break his own record for falling on his BACK or running straight for the sidelines so as not to hurt his pretty little face!! They won't be any better this year. In this day and age, it is about marketing your team whether we oldtimers want to admit it or not. Gone are the days of Johnny U and Gale Sayers - I think I make about as much as those guys made back in the day. These days it is about civic pride and along with that comes major marketing of your hometown teams. All we looked like today were a bunch of boobs. I think we need defense too but at this point in the game, we needed a powerful punch and we didn't get it - The Texans are the laughing stock right now - read the message boards.

I've got to vehemently disagree with you, but I've argued this so much the past 24 hours, I'm going to spare you ;)
