It would appear as though the bitterness of some knows no bounds.
Ricky needs to go away. He's around for the wrong reasons and his staying around only perpetuates the myth that he in any way cares about anything outside of the isolated bubble in which he resides. His story is a frustrating one for those that watched him with such pride only to have to watch him throw it all away for selfish endeavors. Ricky needs help and I hope he gets it. I also hope he never plays another down of football again and is allowed to slowly drift into the world of anonymity where he belongs.

I think it is selfish of you to think that Ricky owes you anything just because he played for your favorite team. I have heard that he is a great human being and if Rickys only crime is being a free spirited individual who likes to toke it up, well, he is better than most men.

You hate Ricky because hes a pothead? good one. I hate to break it to ya kid but when you get to be 15 and 16 people start to smoke weed. Even some of your friends that go roller skating with you, its sucks but its the truth.

That’s it… That's the best you can do? That is where I said he owes me something? If you can read that into the sentence that I wrote, then I commend you for having the imagination of Walt Disney.
The meaning behind what I wrote was that Ricky built up a lot of good will among the fans. He was part of the restoration process of Longhorn football. What he did behind closed doors is known by few, but publicly, Ricky Williams was one of the finest ambassadors any school could ask for. For whatever the reason (most likely the money and fame of the NFL) Ricky changed and became more inwardly focused. While that is not in and of itself a bad thing, it came at the expense of his teammates and his team. That is not the Ricky Williams we saw obliterating the competition while wearing Burnt Orange.
Ricky doesn't owe me anything because I have given nothing to Ricky. Everything Ricky could have given to me as a fan, he did when he destroyed aggy and set college football's rushing record against them on his way to claiming the Heisman trophy. That is a day I will never forget and I am truly grateful to him for the memories of that day. No, Ricky doesn't owe me a damn thing, but I do think he owes something to The University of Texas... the University that gave so much to him.
i could care less what he does as long as the mofo is on madden 07.............he owns in that game

Try again.... I was responding to a previous post that apparently you didnt read or comprehend. I'll give ya another shot... go for it  And I hate to break it to you but in my neck of the woods people dont start to smoke weed at 15 or 16. Some dont ever smoke it at all ! I never did. Maybe in your world, but not in mine. Wheather we are "roller skating" or not:rolleyes:

I like you man, but you are off base here. I have a good friend who is a freshman at TSU and I can assure you that your neck of the woods is not as innocent as you seem to think. Just head over to Arnold or San Jacinto Hall on the weekend or follow the kids to the rivers. There is a reason TSU is considered one of the best "party schools" around and it's not because of all the good music in the jukebox at the local malt shop.

You know, I guess its who you associate yourself with. You all can have all that weed crap that you want. I never associated myself with people like that. I guess thats what makes us different. Oh yeah, and sv.... you still didnt get the post so its best you dont try to have a conversation with people like me. Cause it seems like you dont get it. JTK, I agree TSU is a big party school, but how many 15-16 year olds do we have attending our university here? Not many..... sv just didnt get the initial post and thats what was being pointed out. Not every 15-16 year old smokes weed.... and thats a fact

I get your point. Sadly, I think you and I would both be surprised with the number of 15-16 year olds who are no strangers to the goofy grass. I have never done the stuff myself, don't care to and never was around those that did, but you don't have to be getting wet outside to know that it's raining. It's a problem everywhere and no city or age group is immune to or free of the problem.

That's about one of the biggest double standard statements I have heard on this board. I have sit here for the past year and watched the Texas fans dishonor and disgrace every single A&M student you all could think of.

Well, if it extends beyond the site, then I obviously have no knowledge of it. But what I said is right. Texas fans cannot complain of "bitterness" and other crap they try to justify their bashing of A&M. Yes, Aggies bash Longhorns. Yes, Longhorns bash Aggies. But when the hypocrisy comes rolling in. It's just too much. Thank God my sister chose A&M, some of you Texas fans gives Texas a really bad name.

The fact that you would use the idiotic ramblings of a few crazy fans to in anyway represent a student body of more than 50,000 and an alumni base of some half a million speaks volumes about yourself. I can only hope your sister was smart enough to broaden the criteria of her collegiate search beyond the isolated and somewhat misguided world of an internet message board.

Lol, for one, she graduated a few years ago. And plus, where I lived at the time. I knew of no difference between Texas A&M, Texas and Texas Tech. And when I moved back here I still really couldn't tell the difference but was of course an Aggie and then I saw how quite a few Texas fans represent themselves. And no, I don't just take them off this board. Comparing some of the ones on this board to hardcore Texas boards make some of the ones here look like chumps. But the reason I am glad she is an Aggie is so that I don't have to associate myself with such fans as I have talked about. And I think thats about all there is for me to say on the subject. Other than my sister also graduated summa......

I'll give you the names of a couple dozen hardcore aggy fans that you should probably hang out with. I guarantee they will change your perspective. I don't mean to bust any bubbles, but both schools are big enough to have a pretty good sized followings of crappy fans.

You practically just supported my argument when you used the term "aggy".
But like I said, Aggies and Longhorns don't normally get along. I don't expect it. It happens though, a few of my friends are Longhorns. But I stand by my opinion that the Longhorns outnumber the Ags in terms of....distastefulness(can't find a better word at the moment).

Rebel, I have friends that smoke weed and yet I have never smoked weed, held weed, or had the urge to smoke weed. Would you like me to discontinue being their friend just because they smoke? What about my friends that drink or cuss? Should I not be friends with them? You may think none of your friends did, and you can be that naive if you want.

Shoot Reb in Slodessa I know some people who started smokin at 12 to 13.

The suits on TV and the radio said what he tested positive for was probably trace amounts of ephedrine that was in an herbal supplement he was taking. What he tested positive for was probably not what we would call an "illegal" drug since the NFL was testing Ricky upwards of 10 times a month every month according to the Miami Herald.
I believe it was Nick Saban that said Ricky started getting fatigued and wearing down towards the end of the season so he went on an herbal regiment. Unfortunately for him, he did pay enough attention to their contents and at least one of those natural supplements contained a banned substance. For that, Ricky Williams gets the Ron Artest treatment... regardless of the severity of the crime, he is going to do more time simply because of his past.

Here here. He doesn't deserve to be mentioned along with all the great NFL running backs. It saddens me, since I was at most of those games when he was at UT that he destroyed people. He was one of the most amazing players to wear burnt orange, and now he's just some weirdo.

Yeah. I tend to give respect where respect is due, including students at A&M. At the opposite end of the spectrum was wide, who showed respect for no one.
