For the same reason most teams from south Dallas County are not, and will not be, in this discussion. Look at the records of the teams from that area, save Desoto last year, and you will see that they do a great deal with the kids they have. That pitcher, even being there, is a credit to the program.

I suppose I understand the reality. It was actually our first true winning season in 6 or 7 years. Now I believe we will be back to the usual sub 500 stuff. Our coaches do a good job getting that. Lost some really good players. This isn't Desoto of old.

SOC: 0 wins
Carter: 4 wins
Lancaster: 0 wins
Dunc: 4 wins

The reality is, also, that none of those teams must play us, Legacy, South Grand Prairie, or Midlothian. Those teams could not survive in this district. Yeah we crushed them once but it was nothing they did. We were just on fire that night. Cedar Hill competes with these teams and should not be able to do so in my opinion. In actuality they out-perform Midlothian which is ridiculous.

I would say friendly with some chippiness thrown in... Baseball has lost some of its steam at Marcus the last couple of years. But I know that when we play Flo Mo the stands will be full. Both teams return a number of Seniors. I think Flo Mo will be a little stronger though...

I agree with MDM. It is friendly with a healthy dose of competitiveness. The kids from Flower Mound and Marcus all grow up together, play pee wee and select league sports together and the biggie go to church together. They compete like heck on the fields but go to each others houses after.

Irony here! I spoke with an old coach today who said that the year Ryan Smith graduated the all-district outfield Smith was a part of was one of the best he can remember: 1) The aforementioned Ryan Smith--Marcus 2) Daniel Ortmeyer(sp)--Lewisville and 3) Jeremy Fathery--Grand Prairie

Smith, as spoken about went on to play at UCLA. Ortmeyer(sp) went on to play with the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies. Here is the irony. Fathery went on to play college ball and is now the head baseball coach at the previously mentioned overachieving, Cedar Hill! I found this very coincidental. I am sorry if you do not.

Funny, here in Mansfield it is perceived this way because the players talk trash to one another in a crowded setting or behind the backs and then when approached at the batting cages or the movies it is all friendly. Basically, like the women in a Bachelor episode.

Does some of that go on here? Sure but overall it is community first. Have no doubt the boys and girls from FM want very badly to beat Marcus and the same is true on the Marcus side. I am thankful it is not a hated rival but a competitive one.

Oops I had bad information on Sunday. We went 4-1 at The Woodlands tournament. From the FMHS Jaguar page:

The varsity finished the weekend with an overall record of 4-1. We won the 2012 Woodlands Tournament by beating the #3 ranked in the state twice and the #5 ranked team with a come from behind win 10-9 in the last game on Saturday. Overall the team played great and they represented FMHS well this weekend.

Our JV baseball team played in the Denton High school varsity tournament. This tournament had 4A-5A varsity teams in it and our JV went 5-0 and won the tournament.

Our 9th grade team hosted their tournament this past weekend and went 4-0 including a 1-0 win over Marcusí 9th grade team. They also won the tournament.

So overall the three teams combined for a 13-1 record and three tournament championships.
