Hey guys i had heard a comment made by coach Aymond about the 2005 ns offense being the best he has ever had but its funny to me because they dont have a whole lot of headliners like bobby reid and dejleon farr. Let me know what you think. Also what do u think our chances are for a rematch with westfield and how do u think it will end up?

That has to be the worst user name I have seen on this or any forum. I thought the guy named "Iamtigerwoods" was bad. I assure you, whoever Aymond is...as good as he may be...he isn't God.

1st of all, Aymond isnt god lol. 2nd Westfield is way to talented this year to lose in the early rounds of the playoffs.

That is a funny user name! I got to tell ya, not to sure the Head Coach would like you using his name like that, then again he might love it!

First off my thread wasnt on my user name and i really dont care what you think about it. The reasoning behind it is that if you ever have been to north shore high school its funny because its like hes god everyone praises him. so uh id really apppreciate it if you kept your rude comments to yourself. oh yeah and your user name isnt exactly the best either

i like NS..great team, great tradition--will always be in the hunt for the title...against Westfield?? i don't think so....too talented of a team returning. Westfield is my pick for D1 state champ this season.....and, change your user name knucklehead!! that's nothing to play about...it would almost seem like you are a "scout teamer"?? oh wait, you are--my bad..............

Bleed earned his spot as a HOF'er. But, let's all stay away from message board status smack...you gotta admit that's pretty weak.

Back on topic...
I've heard similar things coming out of North Shore. They have always scored points down there, so if they're saying this is the best offense yet...wow. The Mustang D looks solid with a strong nucleus returning, so we expect them to be very good again. How far they go will depend on the leadership of this group. Everything else is there to have a deep playoff run. The main difference between other NS teams and that 2003 group was the experience, obviously, and the tremendous leadership and determination of the senior captains.

While Northshore has always been good on the offensive side of the ball. Anyone that has watched them for any amount of time knows it has always been the defense that has propelled them to the places they went. As far as not having the names such as Reid or Farr around anymore. They have always found a way to replace their top stars with new ones. They may not always be of the same caliber but they can more than handle the job.

And as KT says the difference between the 03' team and any of the other good NS team is that they refused to accept anything other than a state title that year. As most will remeber alot of that team were sophmores who witnessed the heartbreaking loss to IKE in the dome. SO after that loss they came together like no othe rteam had in NS history and said next year no one would stop them. And well we all know how that turned out.

On the username now I do not know Coach Aymond personally though from having brothers who did play for him and just the general talk I have always heard of him I don't think he would be all that flatered by your user name. While he is a good coach he nor any other coach is God.

i know ns runs the vast majority of the time but what kind of offense do they run??

They run alot of Ace and one back two reciever sets. Though one of the common misceptions people tend to make is that they are really only a running team. While the run is indeed the main focus of the offense. Its really used to set up the passing game. And when they want to they have been known to go away from the run and throw the ball downfield though again its all comes back to their favorite play that being the Lead Draw.

Now I know some would say I must be crazy to tell everyone here our bread and butter play, but most teams already know what to expet when facing North Shore. Though actually stopping it or containing it has always proven to be quite a problem.

Multiple I (off set) and can mix in some shotgun every now and then. A few years ago when they had Kevin Moore at tailback (lightning on turf) they ran a lot of one-back with he and Willy Gaston. North Shore's trademark play has usually been the lead draw. The fullback is featured very little in the running game and is usually off-set from what I've seen. North Shore doesn't use the playaction pass as much as other pro style I teams I've seen like Katy and Tyler Lee. However, the Mustangs do a good job of getting people off balance with quick hitting plays (speed to burn), and not as much slight of hand. Oh yeah, their offensive lines are usually huge (about 280 avg usually) and love to hit.

I live in North Shore and I have not heard or read that Aymond said this is the "best offense ever". I only saw it here on this thread. So I will response to this comment only "assuming" that he or someone from his staff may have said it.

It would be quite an offense if true considering the 03 offense was "the best" I have ever seen in high school football.

Cain is now experienced and should handle the offense well. He is a good passer. Rutland has been moved to wide receiver - he has size and speed. Cain and Rutland in essense equal one Bobby Reid who could pass, had size and speed.

They are very well loaded at running back and the offensive line should hold up.

It will all come down to defense. After having been spoiled by the 03 def. - this group has alot to live up to.

They also had RB-Harrell Ester (Oklahoma St) on that team. He and Kevin Moore made a strong one..two punch out of the backfield. That was a very solid North Shore team.

They lost to Houston Madison in the Astrodome that year. The final score was something like 52-48 or something like that. There was something like 40,000 people in the Dome for that game. They had to open the upper section to fit all the people in. I was lucky enough to be at that game. All I can say is WOW !! :)

Texas Frog - Harold Ester is at Ok St.? Glad to hear it. I was wondering where he was at. Now we have 3 reasons to root for Ok St. - Reid, James and Ester.

I was at the Madison vs. N.S. game in the Dome. My heart has not been the same since. Got to see V. Young do his thing as a high schooler and then The Rose Bowl. If V.Young was a stock - he would be Google.

That game down to who had the ball last. N.S had the ball at mid-field toward the end of the game but could not get a 1st down. Kept making mistakes. I believe Harold Ester had a hurt ankle and could not muster the power needed to break thru their defense.

Well, I know that he signed there... Cant swear that his still on campus  ... I hope his there or at least somewhere finishing up school and playing ball. He was a workhorse at North Shore and had some bigtime skills.

Ya, that game was going to come down to who had the ball last. I remember N.S getting confused some on that last drive and it basically killed the final drive.

Also. Ester did get hurt in that game. He twisted his ankle or something like that during the 3rd qt and he didnt play really the rest of the game. Kevin Moore (North Tx) finished up.

All I can say is that game was a display of "GREAT ATHLETES" all over the place. QB-Vincent Young (Texas) and RB-Courtney Lewis (Tx A&M) were a great tandem in that Madison backfield.

Wasnt it crazy seeing about 75% of the Astrodome filled up for that game. That was the only game that night being played in the Dome and there was approx 40,000 there for that one game.

PS. He did sign with Okie St.. grades or something may of got him.

smilinTiger--i was on this board when you were playing with your Sega Genesis and going through puberty---you get my drift, rookie??? stick with the topic and don't trade licks with an "oldtimer"--OK???.............i agree with you BigDaddyCool...it doesn't matter if they know what kind of offensive set NS runs--it's containing or slowing it down that is the real trick....what kind of offensive scheme does Westfield run?? pretty similar to NS isn't it???

I'm not an NS alum, but their offense is pretty conservative in nature schematically. Containing the lanes is extremely key because of the speed North Shore usually has in the backfield. There really isn't anything fancy about the offense the Mustangs run schematically, but it is usually effective because of the players they have executing it.

This year, Allen Sims (Jr.) will be the man in the backfield. Sims averaged over 10 yards per carry in his varsity action as a sophomore last year. Also, Shore will break out a few play action passes and also look to hit their WRs for big plays when defenses get overly focused on the running game.

The QB Terrance Cain is a very efficient passer...something North Shore hadn't really seen a lot of pre-Bobby Reid. He is a decent runner, but utility player Kevin Rutland usually handled the option aspects of the offense last year, and is back this year. Rutland is a very gifted open field runner, but I think he'll spend more time at WR this year. I believe Cain had a 12 to 1 TD-INT ratio as a junior last year, so he is definitely capable of carrying the load. Reid and Cain being the exceptions, the Mustangs usually played one of their better pure athletes under center (not necessarily a "true" QB) in the past. Willy Gaston (from 2001 team) and Cedric Cormier (96 team) are the prime examples of that.

Shore passes around 10-15 times per game. They'll run about 80% of the time. Shore is known for producing big and talented O linemen. Andre Gurode and Chris Redding are two of the more well known products since Aymond took over the program in the mid 90s. North Shore had more size on their 2003 offense than I've ever seen on a high school team before.

Anyway, as a defense you'd better be fast, be good at getting off of blocks and make strong open field tackles otherwise you'll be seeing a lot of big plays and big numbers going up on the stat sheet for the Stangs.

Ok, Thanks. All I can remember is it was a track meet. The crowd at that game was very impressive. That's the largest fan attendence High school game I've ever been at. I would have to say there was at least 42,000 fans there for that game.

The next largest was the Midland Lee vs Austin westlake State title game in Austin where there was about 37,000 fans in Texas Memorial stadium.
