As Favre's situation drags on, many believe he is hoping to get dealt. John Madden mentioned that he thought it would happen Tuesday on NFL Total Access. It will probably take Favre requesting a trade, which is hard to imagine.

The oft-injured third receiver would challenge Bryant Johnson for playing time and help on returns. Hakim had his best years catching passes from Kurt Warner in St. Louis.

Mike Williams has reportedly lost nine pounds off his playing weight of last season.
He played at a slow 239 pounds last season and is down to 230. He says he's hoping to get to 225. Williams also said coach Rod Marinelli looked right at Williams when he told the team not to be late or overweight. "I think everyone gets the message and those that don't will get weeded out."

Warrick Dunn received a one-year contract extension through 2008.
It sounds like this is the same restructuring ESPN reported last week. By turning future roster bonuses into a signing bonus, the Falcons save cap room. Dunn is scheduled to $3.25 million next season so he needs to keep producing or get cut.

His deal only resembles fellow LB Julian Peterson on the surface. Without factoring the enormous incentives, the deal is worth about $3.7 million per year. It rises to $5 million per year if he hits the more reasonable incentives. In short, it was a very fair deal for New York and nowhere near what Arrington was looking for. Apr. 23

They are planning to talk to Ahmed Plummer and Ty Law this week, but are reportedly only $112,000 under the salary cap. McNair currently costs $23 million against the cap and will need to be let go before Tennessee signs Vince Young.

Getting Reggie Bush signed before training camp appears unlikely.
Of Agent Joel Segal's 13 first-round picks, only four have made it to camp on time. On top of that, Segal will be looking to save face after reportedly blowing Bush's deal in Houston by asking for too much. He will want to make up some of the difference and is dealing with a stingy owner in Tom Benson.

Nate Burleson will make his Seahawks debut at mini-camp this weekend.
His injury problems from last season are a thing of the past. Jerramy Stevens and Darrell Jackson are out with injuries, as expected.

Panthers RB Eric Shelton faces an important mini-camp season following the drafting of DeAngelo Williams.
The Panthers selected the bruising running back in the second round last year. He struggled in pass protection and to understand pro concepts and was placed on IR with a minor injury. At best, now he's their short-yardage back. At worst, he won't make the roster.

Thomas Davis and Dan Morgan have two spots sewn up. Diggs will battle Adam Seward, Keith Adams, and rookie James Anderson for the vacant position. We wouldn't bet against Seward, who the Carolina coaches seem to love.

ESPN.com confirms the Texans and Dolphins are talking to New Orleans about acquiring Michael Bennett.
Negotiations are reportedly further along with Houston. It doesn't make much sense because the Texans just signed Antowain Smith. Its a clear sign they don't have much faith in Vernand Morency, another one of Domanick Davis's backups. Bennett is expendable in New Orleans because the team drafted Reggie Bush.

Jon Kitna is reportedly "separating himself" in offseason workouts from Josh McCown in the battle to be the Lions starting quarterback.
It's no surprise. Mike Martz's system requires a veteran's understanding of the game. McCown has physical tools but the biggest knock on him has been his head.

Packers agreed to terms with WR Donald Driver on a four-year, $17 million contract.
It's not Javon Walker money, but he's clearly Green Bay's No. 1 receiver for 2006. Driver, who had expressed dissatisfaction with his previous deal, caught 86 passes last season for 1221 yards and five touchdowns. He could approach WR1 numbers this year while Robert Ferguson and second-round pick Greg Jennings battle for the No. 2 role.

Packers WR Cory Rodgers was arrested in a bar fight in his college town of Fort Wort.
Police said the fight started after Rodgers, 23, refused to sign autographs and buy drinks for people in the bar. Up to 50-60 people were reportedly in the fight, and some used pool cues and beer bottles as weapons. Rodgers, a fourth-round pick in April, reportedly fired two gunshots into the air. May. 26

Chris Simms plans to run more after talking with Rich Gannon this offseason.

49ers personnel director Scot McLoughan says his team is interested in Virginia LB Ahmad Brooks.
Coach Al Groh said when Brooks reported to UVA spring practice, the senior linebacker was so out of shape he vomited seven times. McLoughan believes Brooks has that rare combination of size and speed that could be an asset at any linebacker position.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports CB Al Harris has been skipping offseason workouts to demonstrate he's dissatisfied with his contract.
Harris was not present for the Packers first two minicamps and won't attend upcoming team activities. His agent told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ten days ago that Harris had been tending to a personal matter, but multiple reports link the veteran cornerback's absence to a contract dispute

The Associated Press reports the FBI has opened an investigation into the marketing firm that recruited Reggie Bush while at USC.
Bush's lawyer David Cornwell said FBI agents interviewed him about "potential federal crimes" last week. Bush will meet with the FBI soon. Bush has thus far declined to be interviewed by NCAA and Pac-10 investigators.

Coach John Fox was effusive in his praise of DeAngelo Williams's minicamp work.

Sean Taylor will accept a plea deal that will ensure he avoids jail time. Felony charges will be dismissed in his assault/firearm case.
Taylor will plead no contest contest to one misdemeanor battery charge and one misdemeanor assault charge. He's certain to get a fine from the league, and a league suspension appears possible, although no one is commenting at this time. Taylor will be at training camp. Jun. 1

Thomas Jones and Lance Briggs were demoted to Chicago's second team during Bears minicamp Friday for skipping team's voluntary workouts.
"We have a starting rotation and that's how it is," coach Lovie Smith said. "In order to be at the top of the starting rotation, you have to be here. So that's how it is." We'd be more concerned about this "demotion" for Jones if Briggs wasn't also being sat down for ... Leon Joe. Smith is making a point and while Jones isn't helping his case vs. Cedric Benson, it's June and the battle for the team's starting job hasn't really started.

Lance Briggs was running with the second team at Bears minicamp Friday.
Coach Lovie Smith is slapping Briggs on the wrist for missing voluntary workouts. The Pro Bowler will be back with the starting unit well before meaningful football takes place.

Cedric Benson ran with the first team at Bears minicamp Friday.

The Saints excused LB Courtney Watson from minicamp this week in anticipation of a release or trade.

Giants WR Jamaar Taylor has reportedly decided to retire.
Taylor has endured several leg injuries since his days at Texas A&M and after being drafted in the 2004 sixth round. He considered retiring last season.

RB Deuce McAllister was able to test his knee last week at minicamp.

Colby Bockwoldt has moved back to weak-side linebacker.
