The 49ers are trying to limit the contact Frank Gore takes during training camp.
Gore had shoulder surgery this off-season. While Kevan Barlow has taken more first-team snaps, 49ers coach Mike Nolan says the starting job is "wide open". Considering Gore's success last year, it's hard to imagine him not carrying the load if healthy.
