Odell Thurman - LB - Bengals
Odell Thurman should benefit from Cincinnati's signing of Sam Adams.
Already one of the best young linebackers in football, Thurman should have more room to pursue the football behind the Bengals' fortified D-line. Apr. 10

Peerless Price - WR - Bills
Bills signed WR Peerless Price to a four-year contract reportedly worth more than $10 million.
Originally reported as a one-year deal, this is another embarrassing deal handed out by GM Marv Levy. Price wasn't going to get more than the minimum elsewhere and Buffalo already has signed similar players in Josh Reed and Andre' Davis. Roscoe Parrish is also on the roster. We suspect they won't all make the team, but Davis and Price look like the co-favorites to start opposite Lee Evans. Apr. 10

Jimmy Smith considered retirement this offseason.
Still getting it done at 37, Smith showed no difficulty getting open last season. He dropped plenty of passes, though, and figures to give up some production in 2006 to Jacksonville's younger wideouts. Apr. 10

Fred Taylor is not participating in the team's offseason training program.

Coach Nick Saban testified on behalf of Ricky Williams Tuesday.
The coach has supported his back ever since Williams tested positive. No timetable has been set for a decision, but Williams' lawyer said he was "optimistic" about the impending outcome and had offered "compelling evidence" that would "undermine the integrity" of the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

However, there have been recent reports he won't be able to play at all this year. The Chargers are reportedly shopping LB Donnie Edwards.

Richard Seymour - DL - Patriots
Richard Seymour and the Patriots have agreed on a contract extension.
Expect Seymour to be among the highest paid defensive players in football. The contract has been sent to league office for review, but may not be official until August because the league doesn't allow contracts to be re-done twice in a year and Seymour got a pay bump last August.

Rashaun Woods - WR - Chargers
Chargers acquired WR Rashaun Woods from the 49ers to CB Sammy Davis.
The disappointing 2004 first-round wideout barely made the 49ers roster in his second year before getting hurt. This is probably a deal of convenience that includes two players on the roster bubble. Perhaps the Chargers can revive Woods, but he'll have to fight just to make the team.

Richard Seymour - DL - Patriots
Richard Seymour will receive a first-year bonus of roughly $12 million and combined guaranteed money of $19 million in his contract.
It was a win-win for both sides. Seymour got a smaller bonus, but more money in the first four years of his contract than Jevon Kearse. The Patriots didn't have to break any records and can use their extra cap space on Seymour this offseason. As long as he's healthy, he should finish this deal.

James Harrison - LB - Steelers
Steelers signed LB James Harrison to a four-year, $5.5 million contract.
Harrison is a classic example of why the Pittsburgh front office is so good. He was an undrafted player who developed for three seasons on the practice squad before filling in beautifully as a replacement starter last season. He wasn't a free agent for two more seasons, but now they have him locked up at a cheap price. He will probably be a starter before the deal is up

Jeremi Johnson - RB - Bengals
Bengals re-signed FB Jeremi Johnson to a one-year, $721,000 contract.

Aaron Gibson - T - Bills
Aaron Gibson lined up as the Bills starting right tackle in practice last week.
Gibson, a 1999 first-round pick by the Lions, may have the best shot of a slew of retread veteran linemen Buffalo signed this offseason at making the team. Incumbent starter Jason Peters hasn't practiced. Jun. 4

Chris Henry - WR - Bengals
Sirius NFL Radio reports Bengals WR Chris Henry has been arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence.
Henry reportedly failed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with OVI. Already going on trial for a felony gun charge August 21 and recovering from a knee injury, the second-year wideout is doing his best Lawrence Phillips impression. Oh, Henry also pled guilty to marijuana possession in March too. The Bengals should discipline Henry before the league does. With a lesser player, Henry would probably be cut. Jun. 4

Darren Sproles - RB - Chargers
Darren Sproles practiced at running back late last week.
Sproles, naturally a tailback, worked almost exclusively with the wide receivers at the Chargers' first round of OTAs. Coach Marty Schottenheimer says he'll keep Sproles rotating between both groups as offseason workouts progress. Jun. 4 -

Steve McNair - QB - Titans
The Titans' first team workout since Steve McNair's arbitration ruling is Monday.
An arbiter ruled McNair, who had been banned from the Titans practice facility, must be allowed to return. "I don't know if Mac's coming in or not, but he'd certainly be welcome," GM Ike Reese said Sunday. Reese and agent Bus Cook are expected to meet soon to discuss restructuring McNair's deal. Jun. 5

Ty Law - DB -ex Jet
The Chargers are reportedly interested in free agent CB Ty Law.
"His agent called before the draft and we discussed it," Bolts GM A.J. Smith said last week. "We have interest." The Chargers have $14 million in cap space, third most only behind New England and Philadelphia, as well as possibly the greatest need for a corner among all the teams said to be interested. Jun. 5

Jamal Lewis - RB - Ravens
RB Jamal Lewis will report to the Ravens' practice facility Monday.
Lewis recently completed 500 hours of community service as punishment for last year's federal drug plea bargain. Coming off a career-worst season, the former 2,000-yard rusher has Mike Anderson added this offseason to backfield. Jun. 5

Ed Reed - DB - Ravens
Coach Brian Billick is confident Ed Reed won't hit the 2007 free agent market.
"There have been very few people we value that leave this organization. Ed Reed would be right at the top of that list. It would be unimaginable to me that (a contract extension) wouldn't get done in one form or fashion." Jun. 5

Johnathan Sullivan - DL - Patriots
FoxSports.com reports the Patriots acquired DT Johnathan Sullivan for WR Bethel Johnson.
The #6 pick of the 2003 draft will be a stern test for Bill Belichick's ability to maximize talent. A former teammate of Richard Seymour at Georgia, Sullivan will compete for a roster spot at tackle behind Vince Wilfork. It's a no-risk move for the Patriots, who had no plans to use Johnson. Jun. 5

Steve McNair - QB - Titans
Steve McNair isn't expected to visit the Titans facility Monday.
Per an arbiter's ruling, he's eligible to return but must first pass a physical. The Titans' reasoning for withholding McNair, who failed a physical because of a torn pec after last season, was that he could get hurt and hold the team liable for his $23.46 million cap number. Titans trainers are currently on vacation. Jun. 5

Chad Johnson - WR - Bengals
Chad Johnson was taken out of practice on a cart Friday with an apparent groin injury.
The Cincinnati Enquirer says he fell hard, and is probably taking an MRI. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis predictably downplayed the injury, "He goes down quite a bit, but he usually pops back up... He tweaked a muscle. He's fine." With minicamp ending Saturday, the Bengals aren't required to update Johnson's condition before training camp.

Titans WR Tyrone Calico strained his calf at Titans practice Friday.
One gets the sense that Calico has to stay healthy and perform well this training camp just to keep his roster spot.
