1. Seguin
2. Westlake
3. San Marcos
4. Bowie
Seguin is legit. They have a solid core returning and great coaching. They are an up and coming program that could hang with the likes of Schertz Clemens and Converse Judson. Seguin runs thru district undefeated and takes the 25-5A title back to the promised land of Lake McQueeny.
Westlake is Westlake and that means good. Damn good. Not familiar with names, but you can rest easy knowing that the only district loss Westlake will have will be to Seguin.
San Marcos is a team that can produce backs likes no other. Can't recall his name but I heard there is a solid RB that will be wearing that purple this year and should go for close to 1000 yards and help the Rattlers score a playoff spot.
Bowie is my pick for 4th because each year they have size. I think there size and defense will get them a playoff spot over Bastrop.

Seguin will rise to the top this year. Their defense will be second to nobody and their offense will be much improved. I think they will be a serious R4 contender!

I don't know bubbacoach. Seguin's D will be as good as anyone's next year and if they can jump start the offense they will be a force to reckon with! I believe that it is the Mats time to shine and make a heck of a run in the playoffs this year.

my predictions: and im being realistic here
1. westlake- hard to argue them not being the champ ..got a ton of talent and some D1 college players on this team..QB Foles is really good
2. bowie- i could see seguin in this spot but i have a gut feeling bowie will be tough to beat...always had a great defense..
3. seguin- matadors will be really good this year...they are gonna be fast too...could possibly make noise in the playoffsthis year
4. san marcos or bastrop- i know some of my fellow rattler fans may not like this prediction but we are gonna have a down year but the upside is we are always competitive down year or not...bastrop has always been a tough team for us to beat except the last time we played them

I don't know Bowie's schedule next year, but I can make some guesses based on last year's.
Last year we had 3 home games and 4 away games in district. The 4 away games were Westlake, Bastrop, Crockett and Anderson. Our home games were Hays, Akins and Austin High.
If we alternate, we should for sure get Westlake, Bastrop and Anderson at home. For sure away games with Austin and Akins. I'm guessing we'll split Seguin and San Marcos. If we get Seguin at home, I'll like our chances a little more. Either way, that'd still be 3 potential playoff teams playing us on our field. We share the field with Akins, so that won't really be an away game either.

Last years home/away schedule probably won't matter at all since the UIL realigned this year. Think about it a minute, it's the UIL, do they ever do anything that makes a damn bit of sense? About the only thing you can count on is that the second year of each realignment you will play the same schedule except the home/away will swap ends.

Westlake could run away with this district if their defense improves and it should. They return most of thier D-line (minus Patrick Massey to Colo. St.) and ILB Bron Hager also returns (son of UT all-american Brit). They will have to improve most in the secondary, where they could lose all-district CB Brad Ballew to the offense, where he will have to play WR. Offensively, they will be very, very good.
I have a lot of faith in Seguin. Coach Carson has done a great job instilling some pride into that program and they will have one of the best defenses in Region IV.
San Marcos has the tradition and system in place to continue to do well enough in this district to make the playoffs.
My sleeper in this district is Austin High. They will control the ball on offense and return a very good LB corps. Coach Vincent came over from RR Westwood two year ago, where he had beaten Westlake, and has really got their numbers up and spirits high.
Bastrop might slip in in front of San Marcos or Austin. They have the speed and playoff experience to compete every week.
Bowie, Anderson, and Akins will come up the rear. I think Anderson will be the best of this group because of the youth they played with last year. Bowie will surprise some people with how bad they might end up and I would look for a coaching change in '07. Akins will be a non-factor, though they return two very good RBs.

That's true, and it really is a dis-service to that community. You would think those parents would make a little more noise considering the amount of talent they've had, with a lack of success. AISD is wack!

I hate to say it, but playing games at the AISD stadiums isn't really like playing other teams at home (like Bastrop, San Marcos, Sequin). The attendance on the home side at Burger for one of our games there was so poor last fall that I actually started counting the number of fans on that side. And unfortunately, of the few who were there, several left after halftime.
I think it would really help the AISD teams if at least the parents of the participants (team, band, drill team) would attend the games and stay for the whole game. There were fewer fans in the stands right before that game started than there were students in the band. I think it helps the AISD teams not to play in the stadiums where there are a lot of home field fans, but they don't get very much of a home field advantage from having a lot of their own fans cheering them on.

Austin High usually supports the Maroons well at House Park and Anderson had more there last year than I expected. Crockett was the worst, but who can blame them when you have look like a UPS employee if you want to dress up the the school colors? Bowie is pretty disappointing too. They are the biggest school in AISD and don't support too well. Akins just doesn't have a fan base being the newest schook in AISD, and it doesn't help that they put a bad product on the field either.
The problem lies mostly with AISD athletics facilities. While everyone else improving and upgrading they continually fall to pieces. There is no leadership or vision within the Athletic Dept. there.
Question for you Rattler fans: When they build the new high school are what are the plans for athletic facilities there? Are they still going play varsity gams at Bobcat?

nope we will still play at Bobcat..a stadium wasnt part of the bond package we voted on a couple of years back...i wish we did had our own stadium that way the school district could draw some more revenue possibly..i dont know what or how much they get from bobcat stadium but i belive if im correct they rent the stadium for like a dollar a year but in the playoffs i think they pay full price...not for sure on that

I think Walker's cousin will be able to start at RB if he stays academically eligible. He is his second cousin...Take heart..he is on the WALKER side of the family, which is a good thing . And then Walker's little bro will probably come up as a dual threat at CB and RB in two years. In the meantime, remeber Alvin Canady, the Rattlers all-time leading rusher? Well his little bro should make varsity this year and he can flat out play. So the Rattlers will be fine for several years

Last year I went to a game where New Braunfels played Bowie at Burger Center and they bought a huge crowd. Burger center's home side was close to full and I was impressed with the fan attendance. Maybe when you went, the Bowie fans didnt show up for fear of losing.. who knows.
