Keith Davis - DB -

Saints signed restricted free agent safety Keith Davis to a two-year offer sheet.
The deal would pay Davis a $1.2 million signing bonus and let him earn $2.1 million in 2006. He was scheduled to make $712,000 with the Cowboys. Davis is a natural strong safety who was forced to start 15 games at free safety last season. The Cowboys have seven days to match the offer. Apr. 10

Terrell Owens - WR - Cowboys

Terrell Owens has not been a regular participant in the Cowboys off-season training program.
Bill Parcells could already be getting annoyed. While T.O. will obviously be in good condition, Parcells expects players to be at the voluntary sessions for team building. "He is here when he is required to be here just like every other player on the team," publicist Kim Etheredge said. Apr. 14 -

Keith Davis - DB - Cowboys

The Cowboys matched a two-year, $3.1 million offer sheet for safety Keith Davis.
Davis signed the offer with the Saints, but the Cowboys decided to keep their projected starting free safety. Dallas may beef up the position via the draft as well. Apr. 14

The Saints reportedly included a provision in safety Keith Davis' offer sheet guaranteed a certain amount of snaps in their base defense.
Yet another 'posion pill', although not as ridiculous as the Seattle-Minnesota brouhaha.

Cowboys re-signed FB Lousake Polite to a one-year contract.
The exclusive rights free agent had no choice but to return. He should start at fullback again for Dallas.

Drew Henson - QB - Cowboys

Drew Henson completed 17-of-28 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns in a Rhein Fire loss Sunday.
It was Rhein's first loss of the season. Henson has played pretty well after a slow start in NFL Europe. Apr. 17

Marcus Coleman - DB - DAL - Apr. 18 -

Cowboys have agreed to terms on a contract with safety Marcus Coleman, formerly of the Texans.
Coleman was drafted by Bill Parcells in New York. If the Tuna can revive Aaron Glenn's career, Coleman should be no problem. With Keith Davis also retained, Dallas doesn't have a huge need at free safety in the draft.

Drew Henson - QB - Cowboys

Cowboys coach Bill Parcells gave Drew Henson a tepid endorsement based on his NFL Europe play.
Parcells went on a diatribe about not knowing the European weather well, then said, "It looked like he's made some improvement there." We're pretty confident Henson is no longer seen as the quarterback of the future in Dallas. May. 5

Terrell Owens - WR - Cowboys

Bill Parcells said he supported the acquisition of Terrell Owens.
"We make decisions collectively as an organization ... I support whatever decisions we make. I was part of it and I continue to be part of it," Parcells said. "I don't view it as a gamble. It's in my best interest that he's successful. It's in his best interest to be successful." Parcells mentioned Owens will have to adjust to a non West Coast offense. "A receiver is not going to catch 100 balls in this offense. Its just not going to happen." May. 5

Julius Jones - RB - Cowboys

Bill Parcells denied a rumor Dallas shopped RB Julius Jones on draft day.

Cowboys DE Greg Ellis will seek a trade or release if his role on the team doesn't change.
Ellis is getting paid well, but wants to play more and feels the 3-4 defense doesn't suit him. He's a situation pass rusher. He'll meet with Jerry Jones at June minicamp, but the owner has an emotial attachment to keeping the '98 first-round pick

Mike Vanderjagt - K - Cowboys

Mike Vanderjagt is likely to perform his own kickoff duties in 2006.
Bill Parcells historically hasn't used a roster spot on a specialist. "Bill (Polian) brought in a dozen guys that didn't kick off any better than I did," Vanderjagt said. "He just got in too deep and couldn't admit he was wrong."

Jason Witten - TE - Cowboys

The Cowboys would like to re-sign Jason Witten, Roy Williams, and Bradie James before training camp.
All three become free agents after the 2006 season. Williams is probably the key figure here because Dallas has replacements in hand for Witten and James should they leave.

brodsky was one of the "behind the scenes" reasons for Dallas' success in the 90's. Emmitt stood up for him at one point when they were looking elsewhere for a new RB coach. Moose also has had some good comments about the fatherly nature Joe had with that RB corps on those great Cowboy teams.

Cowboys RB Demetris Summers was late to his first day of Cowboys practice.
Not a good way to win a roster spot. "We will see how he does here. He is day-to-day. I mean that. He is day to day," coach Bill Parcells said. "I think he understands. He was late for the first day of the job so he needs to understand."

"I was hoping for a little more to tell you the truth. You look for a general something but hey, we got a camp here and we got another camp this summer and we'll go forward from there and hopefully that leads to improvement," coach Bill Parcells said. Henson's roster spot appears safe for now.

Greg Ellis-de-cowboys

After participating in the mandatory three-day mini-camp (June 2-4), Greg Ellis skipped the entire week of OTA (Organized Team Activity) practices at Valley Ranch. Ellis has spent his first eight seasons at defensive end, but the Cowboys are toying with the idea of moving him to a hybrid position that will have him play some outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme. However, the Cowboys would still use Ellis, whom head coach Bill Parcells calls one of his two best pass-rushers, at defensive end in the nickel defense, which is a four-man front. And while Ellis told reporters on Sunday he is willing to accept a new role, he just wants the Cowboys to show him more of a commitment. He fears an unproductive season could not only lead to his release from the Cowboys, but make it difficult to land another big contract. Ellis, who turns 31 in August, has four years remaining on a contract he signed early in the 2003 season, that at the time, suggested the defensive end would finish his career with the Cowboys. But now things have changed and Ellis said if a new deal is not reached, he thinks the best solution would be for him to play elsewhere.

the story is...he was returning from a family vacation and a blue 2-door car pulled along side and started shooting. Davis was hit twice.
Davis's passenger then took over and drove him to the hospital.

Davis was an undrafted FA out of Sam Houston state 2 years ago. he is a top special teams player and was looking to secure the starting safety spot opposite of Roy Williams. last year he was the 4th leading tackler for the Pokes with 68.

the first shooting occurred when Davis was picking up an aquaintance at a strip club parking lot.

Another reason why I can't stand the Eagles. It's one thing when you don't like a team, but when it has something to do with their life and you're wishing that something worse would've happened, that's just sick and repulsive. That's why the Eagles haven't won a Super Bowl, and they won't win one anytime soon. They cheered when Michael Irvin was clinging to life ON THE FIELD and now, one of them says something like this. Cowboys re-signed WR Roy Williams to a four-year, $25 million contract, with an $11 million signing bonus.
A good deal for both sides. Williams gets another big payday in four years in exchange and Dallas gets a fair market deal. Dallas has done a nice job keeping their young core players, also re-signing Jason Witten to a long-term deal last month.

I'm already sick of reading about TO. In 3 weeks - it'll be just unbearable.
Yeah just wait until the season starts then all hell will probably break loose.

Miles Austin has made the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie receiver.
So did Sam Hurd, Dallas' story of camp. Austin, a Monmouth product, beat out Terrance Copper and Skyler Green for the final receiver spot.
