On this board. Otherwise I don't know much about the Abilene program. Start writing more about your program and encourage other Abileners to contribute to this board.
I do know that women don't treat you mean in Abilene.

Watched them play Odessa Hi in 1954 (I guess "across the st." means Odessa, too).
Pretty proud but disappointed in the last min. watching them play SLC in '04 (the Eagles prob. didn't have enough recent experience playing in a "big game").
Totally humiliated watching in Waco fm. the beginning of the game until the end in '05.
Ab. has rebuilt their prog. in the last decade (partly @ Ab. Cooper's expense w/ the re-drawing of boundary lines). The Eagles usually field a pretty good team nowadays; I knew that the '05 team was a shell of the '04 team; we're hoping for a better showing this season.

The great Abeline teams of the 50's got national exposure and put Texas high school football on the map for the first time

Right, g-owl60, those Chuck Moser Abilene teams (54, 55, & 56) were really impressive. I think you had to actually see it to really understand how impressive they were (even the warmups were impressive). It was like watching a well-trained & led special military unit. I guess SLC comes to mind among today's teams that exude that kind of aura.
I don't think any team, though, today has the kind of team discipline & individual discipline that Moser's players had--maybe its a bygone product of that era.

I grew up in San Angelo, and around Coleman/Santa Anna/Brownwood before moving to Southlake. Would here about them on the news out there and on the radio.

I just know that Abilene usually loses to SLC one week after Denton Ryan loses to them and one week before we lose to them.

Heard about the Abilene-Waco rivlaries..........
But, saw them up close at the Alamodome in 2003. Waco won 20-10...and didn't make the playoffs that year.
