What's your take? It is one of the biggest issues between the owners and players to hash out during this CBA. Today during a press conference, the commish said many of the fans he's spoken to said we want to do away with two, boring preseason games and have two competitve regular season games added. In essence, I see this as having a 20 game grind because that's two preseason games in which the main players will have to compete. So, no "off" game for during preseason for starters or potential starters.
Adding two games would be entertainment we want, but it's also very, very hard on the players. Safety of the players is such a huge issue, and we already have an increase of significant injuries each and every year (I don't have a stat on this, but I hear it from many NFL Network and ESPN analysts). Owners believe the added two games will bring in the revenue that both sides want; which makes alot of sense because stadiums will virtually all sell more tickets for regular season games vs preseason.
I would like to see the added two games, but to me it's very important that they add a second "bye" week to each teams' schedule. This will help the wear and tear alot of all starters and first backups and give us the two more regular season games. This would give us more entertainment, more revenue for everyone (owners, players, and stadium staff), and the second "bye" week for physical recuperation. Without that added week off, I don't want two more weeks of regular season games.
As far as adding two more wild card teams on each side...I see good and bad in that and am currently undecided.
