unless he has some unbelievable mid-life crisis, t.o. will continue to be t.o. in my opinion. and if he somehow changes, i dont think he can amend for what he did in the past.
T.O. changing drastically is a huge if.
More power to him if he does. However, I strongly doubt it.

during the press conference he didnt seem to be quite as cocky. keyshawn was the same way and look what parcells did to him. i am a huge cowboy fan and am looking forward to seeing t.o.'s great skills this upcoming season. him and bledsoe are gonna have some fun.

The Cancer can do a 180 and correct himself and I will appreciate and respect that change, but he can never wipe out his past. He can never change his what he has done. Like it or not, history will remember him more for his exploits off the field rather than his on the field accomplishments or any change that might occur.

Shouldn't we forgive to be forgiven?
I am glad he pulled the crap that he did in Philly. I haven't been too fond of Philly ever since Irvin got hurt and their sorry a$$ fans starting cheering. The fact that TO did that to them and is now in a Cowboys uniform is just icing on the cake. In all fairness I couldn't stand TO either and I would definitely be singing a different tune had he not signed with the Cowboys but he did and that's that. People will forget all the BS once he starts scoring TD's. I am sure there will still be a few of those "Holier than thou" out there and all I can say is more power to ya.

Just what in TO's illustrious history makes you think he will change his stripes? You sure are going to bat for a guy that has caused NOTHING but trouble whereever he land yet you believe that when he puts on a cowboys uniform that all should be forgiven. Give me a break. I want the cowboys to win as bad as the next fan but this ain't the right road to take. Just remember when he washes out or causes an uproar you will have to be ready to take the heat. If he becomes a model player than I will gladly eat crow. Don't see it on the menu just yet.

I just want him to help the Boys honorably. I don't know about his past, and it is not my place to judge. I will take it from here and with me he has a clean slate. I have, however seen some pretty nasty characters turn themselves around. I, for one, am in no position to throw stones at anyone. I can't say whether this is a good move or not. Non of us was sitting in that negotiating room and none of us has seen his contract (probably) so we don't really know if Parcells and the Cowboy organization has built in a choke chain or not. I will just stay positive until he makes me change my mind.

I forgave him & gave him a clean slate when he signed with Philly(man dumb mistake on my part). I am not making that same mistake twice. Look at Dale Hansen's deal he is correct on the observations, if the running game, Glenn & Whitten all produce then TO will ***** & moan because he is not getting the ball & then it will be round 3. Plus his press conference in Dallas is exactly like it was at Philly, & I'm not going to forgive a man who disrespected Jerry Rice as well.

Agnew got it right. The Cancer's slate was wiped clean and he was given a second chance when he signed with Philly. Now, the Cancer is going to have to earn his clean slate and earn his forgivness as far as I am concerned. There is an old saying that goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". The Cowboys have a contract with T.O. that will pay him if he produces, but also leaves an out for Dallas if he acts up. He has to keep his nose clean to keep getting paid.
Here's what I know. T.O. works hard on the field. He wants to win and came back to play in the Super Bowl with an injury. Maybe he did it to get paid, but he still tried to win a Super Bowl. He has not gotten arrested for anything off the field. He showboats, but it took him years to act up for the 49ers and he really let it go when they turned bad. The Eagles got T.O. for cheap and then didn't want to pay him for being who he is. I'd be mad just like him if I had the year he had in 2004 and the Eagles management said they were holding him to his deal. T.O. knew they might cut him after 2 years and those NFL contracts aren't guaranteed very often. I agree he had a deal, but I also say teams should negotiate in good faith and that means they give raises to players who deserve them, since they cut guys who aren't worth their salary. I'd get banned if I said what I think about the town and fans of Philadelphia. I hate that town and traveling through there this month did not change my opinion.

T.O. is not nearly as bad as Randy Moss. He doesn't take plays off, do drugs, squirt refs with bottles, or run over people in traffic.
T.O. got mad because he was underpaid (something Moss has never been) and he played on a bad team before he left the 49ers (Moss was acting up on potential Super Bowl teams).

Jerry is used to ego. He had Irvin and Deion. Emmitt had an ego, but he wasn't as flashy. Even Troy had an ego.
Here's my .02 about T.O. destroying Philly. If he's destroying a team saying stuff about McNabb, that means he had teammates that thought the same thing about the QB and just didn't want to say anything. If he destroys a team because he griped about money, that means he had a few teammates that agreed with him. The bottom line is that one guy doesn't destroy a team. A lone ranger stands by himself, but like feelings among numerous people destroy a team. You have to ask yourself if the same thing would've happened at some point with another guy on the team. The Eagles weren't fair in their dealings with T.O. They got a guy cheap because he had problems in SF. He played well and acted well for them and they didn't want to properly pay him. The only way he could get paid was cause problems and get out of town. The Eagles were going to keep underpaying him as long as they wanted him. You really do need to see some of this from his perspective. I don't like people destroying my team (I was happy to see him destroy Philly!:p), nor like that behavior, but I can see a little bit where T.O. was coming from.

Well stated Lonny. Philly has been notorious for not wanting to pay their players and it was exposed with the TO situation. What screwed their season was McNabb getting hurt in the opener against Atlanta along with the numerous injuries throughout the season. Let me say that I am a cowboy fan and have been for a long time. I have to say that because my comments may be a little unorthodox.
I want don't Terrell Owens to change. He is a good teammate. He always trys hard when he is on the field whether it be a game, practice, or offseason. I like his antics, he gets into the heads of the opponents. He wants to win at almost all costs. Remember he played in the superbowl with a broken leg. The Eagles are notorious for low-balling their players. They singled out Terrell Owens and his was right to be upset about them not honoring is 100th career touchdown. If McNabb had thrown his 300th career touchdown, it would have atleast flashed up on the jumbotron.

Look up the word professional as they like to call themselves. Their antics are far from professional. He has a million dollar talent with a ten cent head. Not throwing a big party and stopping the game to celebrate his 100th touchdown is no big deal. Is he the first or only player to have scored 100 touchdowns? Grow up TO and move on. Anyway, for my useless input. ;) The most reliable predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Are there exceptions to this? Sure there are. Will TO be one? No one knows, not Parcells, not Jones, probably not even TO himself. Can he redeem himself, absolutely... everyone is capable of rising above.
Personally, I'm old school. So I have been disappointed for a long time in the caliber of character of many many players. The old codes of ethics are eroding in the NFL and this guy is just a part of that errosion.
So, he may help them win the Big Dance. But if his character doesn't change and his attitude remains, no... I won't love him or admire him. (I still don't care for Deion, regardless of his contribution.) For me, results are not the only thing that define a champion.

Amen, brother. I've never been an Eagles fan, but I'm also not a fan of the organization. They should've honored his 100th TD regardless of what he did before the season. I don't give a rip what the commentators on TV say about T.O. There's no way the Eagles are a bunch of saints and one devil can come in and ruin a whole team. There are very few receivers who have caught 100 TD passes. The 49ers would've never let Rice go if he was still better than T.O. when he left. I was listening on the radio when they made a big deal about Jerry Rice catching TD's 100 and 101. #100 was something like a perfect 100 and Highway 101 was next.

I don't like what T.O. has done. Some of it might've been early immaturity. I think a lot of it has been to escape what he doesn't like. The future might not replicate the past because he might be happy in Dallas.
Man I hope you're right there, but I don't trust his history.
Sorry footballgirl, I'm not going to go for this guy, I don't care what jersey he is on, my hope is Larry Allen tears this guy a new one & hopefully ending his career with a nice little cut & not get a cent of what he wanted. I have forgiven him once & that backfired, I'm sticking with my guns on this deal. On the crying part, just watch he will do that if Barber, Glenn, Whitten & Co. produce simply because he is not getting the football.

to didnt destroy philly. he "helped" in the terrible season they had last year but he wasnt the only cause. donovan mcnabb got injured and so did brian westbrook, 2 huge offensive production leaders for the eagles. i do understand what you are saying.
McNabb getting hurt also destroyed my fantasy team(hell he was my top scorer).

His history is bad, but you also have to take the whole story into account. Writers have their own biases and none of us know the whole story behind him. T.O. will get the ball because he's the best guy they have on offense.

That is true. I absolutely have to go with Lonny on that one.

The only thing IMO Jerry Rice and TO have in common is that they are both receivers. Jerry Rice is the kind of player we all respect on and off the field. I don't remember any stupid stunts after Jerry scored a touchdown. If TO wasn't so much of a showboat they probably would have done more. BOO HOO for him:rolleyes: Time to grow up and act like a man and a professional and you will be treated that way.

They better fix the offensive line or he won't get his opportunities if they keep that good for nothing line in tact like that.
Plus Jones needs to go for Vanderjagt since he is now available.

I never was a Rice fan. I did respect his game.

This is my analysis on TO. TO is what the NFL does NOT want. He is their worst nightmare. He is..... an NBA star.
Think about it. The NBA, far more than the NFL, is star and personality driven. The NFL is the most watched league in the country, yet even its top stars do not have the same wattage as the big NBA guys. Kobe, Shaq, AI, "King" LeBron, "Like Mike", Magic, Sir Charles etc, etc. These guys are more than just athletes, they are bigger than the league, they are their own brand. All of them, even the retired ones, command more endorsement and are better recognized than any of the top NFL players, save possibly Peyton Manning and yes, TO. The MVP of the Super Bowl, Hines Ward, could walk down the streets in many towns in the USA and not be recognized.
The NFL doesn't want that. It wants to sell a product, not a star. It wants fans cheering for teams, not players. The NFL has a formula for success, and it doesn't involve TO becoming bigger than the league. But TO sees that opportunity, and wants it. The man is a relentless self promoter. The league frowns on giving too much individual recognition and hype, so TO does it for himself. He wants TO to be a household name, he wants to sell himself after retirement.
I don't think he believes half the stuff he does. It is all an act, and an act I don't appreciate too much.

Terrell Owens and Randy Moss are nothing alike. Moss admitted to taking plays off while on the field. Owens has never done that in a game or practice.

Couldn't have been. Roy Williams was still playing for the dirt burglars when the Cancer planted the ball on the star.
Sorry, that was George Teague. I remember seeing #31 so I was thinking Williams. Roy Williams was the one that gave him the leg injury in 2004.

T.O. changing drastically is a huge if.
More power to him if he does. However, I strongly doubt it.

The cowboys have gone from a class team under the Schrams & Landry's to a classless team under Jerry "The Bandit" Jones. He has and continues to operate this team like the Raiders. If I was Parcells, I would tell Jerry Jones to stroke himself and ride-off into the sunset.
Thanks to the TO move, I have officially decided I will not watch another Cowboy game until the cancer disappears. I hope he stirs it up early, so someone can escort him out of town. He is not welcome here!!

The Cowboys were full of bad guys. Hollywood Henderson was terrible until he got his act straight. Pete Gent played for the Cowboys and that's why they made North Dallas Forty to show what that team was like. Remember Lance Rentzel and Rafael Septien. I love the Cowboys but they, like every team, are far from being saints at any moment in their history.

They'll cheer when he scores a TD. I can't wait for him to do something on the star. I bet he kisses the star at the 50-yard line when he scores his first TD at home in the regular season.

Yeah he did say at the contract signing press conference that he was going to embrace the star.

The cowboys had a few bad guys in the day. They have a ton of them now including Jerry Jones. I give the NFL another 10 years and they will have prisoners playing on Sunday. Practice/play during the day and behind bars in the evening. OOOPs, they will have to do away with sunday night and monday night football!

They'll never have prisoners playing football, but they will have guys that SHOULD be in prison playing football.
BTW, we have a lot of people on Capitol Hill that SHOULD be in prison.

1DawgFan you nailed it when you said "hypocricy at it's finest", when Jones passed Randy Moss up because of his character, then he goes on & gets a man who is much worse.
Randy Moss was a guy with potentual, he had`nt caught a pass in the NFL yet. Owens has been the # 1 wr in the league many times, and is still a top 3.He`s got a little bagage, ok a bunch of bagage! Bill Parcells is old school and will not let this guy get too far out on the limb!
If it was any of the last 3 head coaches in Dallas i`d be worried. The Tuna will handle it just like Jimmy Johnson would. Just like Antonio Bryant, see ya!

Couldn't have been. Roy Williams was still playing for the dirt burglars when the Cancer planted the ball on the star.
The Roy Williams thing was in the end Zone on one of the little Dallas stars, not the star at mid field....he did that 2 times in a row the second time roy got him....He`s thrown TD balls at all kinds of things in every stadium,he`s been in many many TD celebrations all around the league, because he knows how to score, & he knows how to get open! All you cry babys just get off the wagon, and go cheer for some other team!
If you cant be a team player (fan),then you must not like what the boss did, (JJ) he wants to win more than all of you cry babys together! If he SCREWS up,he`s gone!!!!!!Believe me Jerry is`nt stupid, this guy is on a SHORT,THIN, THREAD!
And this Tom landry turning in his grave thing is bull too. For one thing Tom is in Heaven, not in a grave,O his bones are their, but his spirit ,and soul (the real tom) are with the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords... Jesus!
